It's finally fall in Arizona, and we're getting ready to plant out all our cold-season veggies! We're looking forward to growing root veggies (like carrots, beet, and onion), leafy greens (like lettuce, kale, and spinach), and herbs (like cilantro, dill, and parsley)!
After harvesting your summer veggies, you may be left with a sad looking garden bed. Ours were a couple of inches lower than they had been in the spring, but that's perfectly normal! Every time you water, the soil will naturally condense, and over the course of the summer, the nutrients will be absorbed by the warm-season veggies. Now that it's fall, we're prepping our beds by adding in new nutrients like compost or worm castings. Our favorite soil conditioner is made by Happy Frog, and it contains all kinds of plant foods!
What is your favorite cold-season veggie to grow? What new veggie are you going to try growing this year? Let us know in the comments!
