In just 3-4 hours of pressure cooker pho style (beef noodle soup) to make enough pho for a whole week for a family of 4. This save a lot of time and money for a nice quality bowl of pho. I often make pressure cooker pho and free half of it for later use and also making Bun Bo Hue (Hue Beef noodle soup) and free half of each to alternate out for a few weeks.

I thank you for this video, I will be using this as I attempt to properly make pho for the first time for my girlfriend. Her growing up in Veitnam I am sure she will be a harsh critic

Lol... your love for her that counts the most. Critic is to get better, just facts.

@@fishsaucemama I made it this week actually (Tuesday)! It came out wonderful. She was all smiles and over the course of the week has cleared out most of the leftovers (we got two bowls of broth left). I want to thank you again and next step is to perfect my technique and get better

Wow.. this wonderful to hear. Thank you for your feedback! I am glad you and gf are enjoying it. I sometimes make big patches and freeze a couple containers some later time. I do only rare and meatballs, so I have the meat rare thinly sliced and keep them portioned in the freezer for quick defrost. I hope you will perfect your Pho soon.

You're absolutely right. Every time it snows we'd buy stuff to make pho or bun bo hue for snowed in instead of bread and milk lol.

I made this today and it was excellent. My house smells like pho... Which is great. Question:. Will the soup freeze well? Do I talked the meatballs out to freeze? Thank you for aa great recipe.

Love to read this. Thanks for your feedback. I only add meatballs in a couple minutes when it's boiling. It actually freeze very well. I often make large batch and freeze half. If the meatballs already in the soup, you can freeze with the soup. Just don't cook the meatballs too long because the flavors from the meatballs will be dissipated into the soup and they will be very bland and tasteless.

This is so yummy. I make this very often. Super easy quick and delicious. Especially in the summer where I get endless supply of Thai basil.

Agreed--the bone marrow tastes awesome! I will try your method of chilling the fat to remove it--I've never been good at skimming the top of the stock. Can't seem to get the broth completely clarified.

OMG.. I finally got someone who agree with me on the bone marrow. I often hear all the eww and ughh.. 😆. I am on the crunch when it's time to cook but if you want clear broth, you have to keep the heat low simmering. the moment the soup starts to bubbling boiling is when it starts to get cloudy. Yes, when fat meets cold, it will form and can be easily strained out. so sad though because it has a lot of flavor 😀

@@fishsaucemama many good tricks, which I've only thought partially like the fat on top. I know if you leave it in the fridge it will solidify but it will waste 3-4 hours and I couldn't eat right away but I now know I can just scoop the top layer into a small bowl while enjoying the broth immediately. Brilliant! :)

Cool video! For onions I’ve usually seen them placed in the soup to cook for an hour or so for flavor. Is it not necessary with tthe pho cubes?
@fishsaucemama
@fishsaucemama 3 года назад
Onion will add sweetness to the broth, but I use pressure cooker to cook. With onion in there will smush up and the broth will be not clear. To me, it is not. I add a lot in my bowl on the side. If you do add onion, do it on the regular pot over the range with simmer heat.

Pressure cooking is not new in the US. But, it was very scary. The lid would shake and steam, it would seem like it would blow up.
