Price is Right pricing game "Check-Out". See how it is played. Watch as this contestant from Canada played this game with exciting results. Drew Carey hosts.
Is it just me or did anyone have their heartbeat quicken and feel their pulse rise, and your breath come out with the sound of shock when the end result was revealed? The first thought that came to my mind was 'HOLY @#$_&-+())!!!!! I can't believe it!!! That was the B E S T playing of Check-out I've ever seen. If Pauline was playing for a brand new car, I have absolutely no idea of what I would've done or how I would've reacted. I remember feeling as if my jaw had dropped to the floor. I was shocked. Years later, I still can't believe that I finally witnessed a perfect win on Check-out. I never thought that such an occurrence as this would ever happen in my own lifetime. So proud of her.
Wow!!! At first, I felt so bad for Pauline because of the conversion between Canadian and U.S. monies. However, she did phenomenal-exact amount!!!! Put most of us Americans to shame in our own country!!!
From season thirty-six of "The Price is Right" on CBS (United States), here is a clip from a mid-2008 episode where contestant Pauline does an exact win in the game Check-Out. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Wow, I've never seen this happen in this game, I did see it one time when the lady lost by $0.03 when bob barker had it. At that time, your total and the actual total could only be $0.50 above or below, it was $0.53!
that is an accomplishment for two reasons...one the fact that it's been only done twice in the 27 years checkout has been on the show...secondly because the last and only time prior to this was done was in check out was back in the late 80s...
Im from Prince Edward Island (PEI) Canada, and for those who say that Canadians are dumb think again we created price is right history on July 4th as being the only 2nd co ntest EVER to hit the exact price on the nose!!
My quote when seeing this exacta..."I can't believe it!" and I, TLE, quote Barker-sama, "in the presence of miracle" that happened on Independence Day 2008 aka ID4 08, America's 232nd birthday.
The funny thing about her guess on the olive oil, $6.49, is that that's the name of a lottery here in Canada....Lotto 6/49. It held it's 1st draw back on Saturday, June 12, 1982, and will hold it's 40th Anniversary draw on June 11, 2022. X-)
Ohh i thought the title meant she the price of each one exactly. I was watching and i was like 'why aren't they impressed'. But i didn't remember the prices she said. Then i realized it before the last item price.
If this was one of the MDS episodes, she would have one $1,000,000 plus the prize she was playing for! The Million Dollar rule was if you were 10 cents above or below the actual total of all the retail prices combined/added up of your total!
@SchwarzeWitwe2 Actually, to my knowledge, it's always been there. Bob just made people come up on the right side so the one on the left side may not have been easily seen.
This is what you call ironic. A Canadian -- who works for our government no less -- playing on the 4th of July game and she does THAT??? Makes me proud to be a Canadian.
Go Canada! It seems we know American prices better than Americans do based on this clip; she even hit the second item right on the nose, as well, I think ($2.39 for that one).
Wow! She got it right on target! I wish Bob Barker would’ve done it where she nailed it! This is the first she had done it perfectly in the post-Bob Barker era. So when was the last time that a contestant did it perfectly in “Check-Out”? But I’m not sure.
I'm glad you asked. In check-out, it's simple. You guess the price of the items given, and you can be only 2 dollars off (high or low) and still win. Grocery Game, you're trying to get between 20 and 21 bucks, and actually can pick as many as you can. Though if you run out of items...the game is over.
“Ladies and gentleman. I want to call your attention to something special. History has been made on The Price is Right To-day. Our little lady friend from Canada has gotten the total on Check Out on the nose! How about THAT!!”
I hope someday, maybe an episode exists on PlutoTV’s “Price Is Right: Bob Barker Era” channel. They have tons of episodes of the show from the first 35 years.
Drew sounds childest when he say "Right on the Nose." 5:48 I bet if Drew saw somebody get shot in the nose, he'll get excited and tell the shooter "You got him, you got him Right on the nose."
At least once, sometime in 1990 (when that one happened, the scoreboard in the middle read ".00" for the difference). I'd be curious to see his reaction too (since I've only seen screencaps of that moment myself)
I found this one, and it’s an episode from 1990 featuring the first perfect playing of “Check-Out” along with the “Yipe Stripe Fruit Stripe” gum blooper. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9t8j5YkYQU.htmlsi=3Yqk0NHC9b6E-6dD
Back in 1990, a contestant played “Check-Out” and he nailed it perfectly with a total of $6.99 and the ARP was $6.99 with a difference of $.00 and boy, he went right on the nose when Bob Barker was hosted at the time. And prior to that, came the infamous blooper where Rod Roddy was losing it while he was reading the product plugs saying “Yipe Stripe Fruit Stripe” bubble gum.
+ngn00 There was over an hour wait between when they bid on their showcases and when the prices were revealed because CBS Standards and Practices shut down the show. There are still some people at CBS who think he cheated. That episode actually was held back a couple of months from when it was originally supposed to air. I am told that CBS suppressed any excitement for that.
FireStormBaller Every story that I've read says that is what happened after the perfect bid. If you were in the audience that day, I would love to hear your side of the story.
When did the announcers stop fully explaining the products during these games? While Rich is an excellent announcer (much better than George, but not as much as rod or Johnny), I'm still annoyed that even he needed to shorten his explanations. It's not the same without hearing the products slogans.
That started before then. This is for legal reasons, that is, if the company didn't pay, or provide the product to the show, it can't be said. Think about on TV game shows a contestant isn't allowed to say exactly what company they work for, but will give a generic "I work for a major insurance company". Contestants are instructed on that per standards and Practices. That is, no free advertisements.
I wanted this woman to lose so bad. I Friggin hate that these contestants have to depend on the audience and can't make a decision on their own. Bob. Barker would have never let her take all that time to troll the audience.
