Exactly what I needed. Looked at replacement cartridge thinking, it looks nothing like the original. Your step by step showed how it would change and fit just right. Thx
I WAS GOING CRAZY! It kept leaking after I replaced the old cartridge. I never saw the washer that went inside the nut. After you demonstrated what to do, PRESTO--fixed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
OMG , I am so glad I found your video. The Pfister how-to video missed an important step, which is to take out the new washer from the new parts interior and put it into the old brass one. For some reason, when I tried to screw back in, the bottom part of the new cartridge broke apart (not sure why). Fortunately I was able to reassemble it, and it works now.
Thank you! I had similar symptoms to what you described, but in my case, the cartridge was simply too loose - although I didn't know that until seeing your video and attempting to replace the cartridge. Without your video, there is NO WAY I could have attempted this! Thank you sincerely!
Thank you! Thank you so much! Exactly what I needed to see. I have 3 sinks (6 cartridges) just like this in the house, and the leaking has begun! I watched your video while doing the work and I am so happy ;-) !!
a quick fix before pulling the cartridge is to try to smug that nut up a little... great video and thanks for sharing. I love the look of PF faucets but they seem to need a lot of attention. If you call them though they will send parts almost guaranteed. They sent me handles with new cartridges...
Great tutorial, thank you. However after I removed the set screw from the hot side, the handle still will not come off. I've tried hitting it with a hammer and used all my might, but it won't come off. Cold side came off easy just like in your video. Any ideas?
Hello, at the 4:04 time you are pulling out the old cartridge. Do you know the name of that white plastic circle thing that is holding the handle escutcheon (or chrome thing ) in place? mine is all rusted out underneath and I need to remove the bottom, clean out the rust and then put it back on, but the plastic piece didn't make it off okay, its all messedup, wont work again. I need to order a new one, but I don't know what it's even called, yet alone a part number Thanks!!!
Same problem but the carthrage I put in there broke off I took out must of it but I cannot get the new one in the well! It will not tighten up or go in!
I have had a hard time removing the bass ring from my faucet, any suggestions? Yours seems to be removed easily, mine is so tight and I cannot budge it at all to remove the cartridge.
I had similar difficulty trying to remove the brass nut with a plier or crescent wrench. I found the best solution by using a 19mm spanner (tubular wrench set $13) from amazon. It makes the job a lot easier. Try searching for "6Pcs Dual-ended Wrench Socket Plumber Back Nut Tap Spark Plug Spanner Set".
Hi, I replaced the 'hot' cartridge in pfister bathroom faucet, not because of low water pressure, because the handle was impossible to turn. I ended up replacing the cold cartridge too. Everything went back together fine, I checked for debris and cleared the water lines before installing the new cartridge. Now, there is low pressure. No leaks, water comes out fine, but the pressure is about 50% of what it was. What could be wrong?
@@chicagohandyman it worked!! Thank you. Water pressure restored. I went around the house and check them all. Water flow has improved at other sinks too. I owe ya one
Did I catch this right? You took a new cartridge that was all plastic & cannibalized the parts off it & put them onto the old brass one. But in reality this was not necessary except to maintain the brass shell' or is it just that the plastic one's don't hold up as well to be why you did not just replace it w/the whole new part.?.
That's just the way Price Pfister intended for this particular cartridge installation. If you were to take the brand new cartridge and install it in its entirety, it would not fit. A cartridge with the brass shell is no longer offered by them anymore. That's why the "cannibalization" was necessary. I was baffled the first time I did it also. It is my belief that this is being done to save on cost.
The new Price Pfister Plastic cartridge does NOT have a "threaded bottom" that allows it to be "screwed" into the line (look at the pictures). The Brass one does have threads at the bottom which are necessary to screw the cartridge back into the base. DancoDOTcom does have an exact brass replica you can buy (3G-3C or 3G-3H). However for levered handles (ones that turn 1/4 turn) it doesn't line up exactly straight like the original Price Pfister one so when off or on it won't exactly be at 6 o'clock or 3 o'clock (on the cold) it ends up being between 5 o'clock and 6 o'clock when on and between 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock when off (using a clock for reference).
I wondered why this plumber did not replace all new parts in, to me he wants to keep them or what then charged customer for whole thing and that is ripping off. Did the plumber discuss with the customer or did he just doing his own house.
