As a bassist my first man and incredible song writer made me pick up the bass won battle of the bands , with an $80 bass and a old bass man fender , we played original music me and rip guitarist I wrote the bass line he played Gutar and sang .

Fun fact: Les Claypool, the bassist, tried out to be in Metallica when their first bassist passed away. They told Les he was way too good for their band.

My friend in high school had this whole concert on pay per view on a big screen tv. His living room was a mosh pit that weekend. Had Woodstock on round the clock.

I was somewhere in that mass of people in this vid (admittedly towards the side and back, as some people were intentionally muddy and moshing, throwing mud, and all that). By Sunday that mud was more than ankle deep. My youngest brother stayed home and taped the whole thing, but unfortunately a friend "borrowed" the tapes and I never got to see them.

I got to see Primus open for Rush in Nuremberg Germany back in ‘91 I think it was. Best concert I’ve ever been to. Les Claypool and Geddy Lee in one night? Oh hell yeah.

J S Hansen early on I went straight to six and bypassed the five strings, now when I play a five I feel like I’m missing out. Still play a four string J when I play Jazz on gigs when the upright is practical

I LOVE the enthusiasm!! 😁 and I love people who show love for the bass! Not a lot of people appreciate it. It gets overlooked, people tend to pay attention to singers or guitarist, and even drummers. Most people don't realize that the bass is the skeleton of the song. Without it everything would fall flat. It holds everything up. BackBeat. I love it!! I was in that crowd. And at that time, Primus had a pretty well-known song in the charts called "My Name Is Mud". And considering the fact that it had been raining for days, and mud was a problem there, that was not a good mix. Even before they played, Les Claypool told the crowd, I don't even want to open up this can of worms. And then he warned everybody, keep the mud to yourself you mud hippies. Because there were a lot of people picking up chunks of mud and throwing everywhere. So you can just imagine how it was after my name is mud came on. I had a good time there, I'd never go to another one again, but for historical reasons I am glad I was there.

I still remember the day i discovered primus..i went to the record shop to by Nirvana's never mind album but they were out....i said to myself im buting something anyway...and i saw PRIMUS SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE...thought name sounded amazing so i bought it!....i went the nenxt weekend and sold all my guitar gear and traded up for bass gear!....40 years later i have no regrets and primus is still a huge influence for me!

Your intro makes me think about two French songs, "Vacances, j'oublie tout" by Elegance, and "Sable fin, cocotiers, bananaze" by Raoul Petite". Pretty sure you'd appreciate their cool carefree vibe. Oh, and thanks for reminding me these summer tunes.

You need to search for Primus Ozzfest 1999. Same song, but they bring Buckethead out during the song. Buckethead and the bass player, Les Claypool and the drummer here have done a lot of collaborating with each other. You should also look for some of the collaboration between Buckethead and bassist Bootsy Collins. EDIT: Sorry, this isn't Brain (drummer) in this video.

Primus Sucks! Gotta check out more Primus dude they are funky as fuck! John the Fisherman, too many puppies, lacquer head, shake hands with beef, shit I could name Primus songs all day. Every damn song is jam packed with funky unfathomable bass lines, psychedelic/metal guitar shreds and an extremely underrated drummer. An extremely talented band.

Met primus at a meet and greet at Coney 🏝 amphitheater. les was great respectful, tho he was burnt out from 3 years of touring. Took a picture w-him only Q&A rapped with Tim and lar . 4 train stops to Coney Island 🏝. Had some shrooms , wild show great seats !!! Yo Brooklyn
