Making this part was a nightmare honestly. The concepts are cool and all but the level design is so bad that you can fall off the map easily in so many places. There are a lot of bugs. That's my excuse to explain why you can see me struggling in a lot of places. And the nail to coffin is that, at the end of this area, just before library, (26:43) that loading trigger causes the emulator to crash semi-consistently. That explains why there is a discontinuity in the video there. I tried my best to maintain the video continuity. I made this in 3 segments (4 technically including the splice at the last load trigger). Thus the first 2 split points at 6:22, 15:05 are smooth(ish) but the last one at 26:43 was not because it was unplanned. I hope you enjoyed the video.
Some parts of these levels are ok, and I could see sense in them being added in any remake (like the gates blocking your way at the start of the garden tower, forcing you to solve a puzzle, and the end section where your outside on those ledges), but most bits of them as you've said yourself are just pointless filler and were deservedly cut for that reason. It is interesting to see them though and how adding certain sections in the pc & console versions could have fleshed out the fortress a bit more (like at 8:31 in this video, the machine noises in the background make it sound like this area might be the runoff/sewer for all the water after it's finished passing through the mechanical tower above).
Memories. This was probably my first video game ever when it comes to these types of games (outside of super mario and circus). I remember the woman who sold it to me claiming this game was not for my age. I started playing it and i was eventually stucked in many places. THIS ONE DAMN PLACE WAS NIGHTMARE. I think it took me 3+ months to get out of this chamber of doom. I didn't have internet back then, so guides couldn't help me and, as a kid, i couldn't really understand some things like hidden ledges. When i did it i was relieved like i achieved something beyond me. This level and the underground river were the biggest pain in the ass in video games. Right now i am 23 years old, watching this video and i have no idea how i managed back then. When i bought the PS2 version, i was like "where are these levels have gone". Turns out it was a PSP exclusive add on. To be honest, any person who went throught this game found WW to be a walk in the park. But i loved and apprieciated the complexity of these extra rooms. I wish we could see them again in a future remake.
I don't know why this came to my recommendation but I did play POP: Revelations a couple of months back on Android using emulator! I played Warrior Within on PC while I was a kid and I was so damn shocked(or should I say mad😂) when I came across these BONUS levels in the PSP version! All of these levels were a pain in the ass! But I completed this Statue Chamber in my 1st run though, thanks to the Sand Wraith... The real pain in the ass was the Stairs Chamber where I wasted 2 freakin' hours just because I couldn't find the fallen celling in the water! Still it's good to see something new after playing this game again after so long, a masterpiece back then! Thanks for the video though, brings back memories eh... I'm glad it came to my recommendations! ♥️
I remember playing this part 10 years ago on my PSP and i got frustrated by not knowing how to pass the statue and by that time there wasn't any youtube answer.
They added all these bonus levels in the PSP version after one year of Warrior Within's release on other platforms. These levels could have got more treatment on the level design side, but they were still fun. Adds a lot of content to this game honestly. Really hope these levels are playable in the remake, if we get one.
The cherry on top is that the respawns are so fucked in this section (they're an instant fall to your death) forcing you to load from a save. At least on original hardware.
Who do those giant statues represent? Could it be the four elements: air, water, earth and fire? Or perhaps the woman with big breasts represents the Empress of Time and the other three statues her demigod siblings who may have been intended to play a role in the game - some helping their sister, some helping the prince. Or maybe they were to show up in the next game seeking to avenge their sister's death and the statue chamber was just supposed to tease what's coming. Some of these concepts may have made it into The Forgotten Sands where there's a watery female jinn aiding the prince and a horned, fiery male jinn who's the main antagonist. Now compare with the 2nd and the 4th statue... While all this is speculation, one thing is clear: These statues are too distinctive to have just been designed randomly.
@GMPranav Hello, Yes you are correct. The statues are not random. They represent the various persian gods and goddesses. The one with exposed breats is Zam who created the scorpion sword. The one with a water bowl on her shoulder is the water goddess Anahita (reminds me of Aquarius symbolism). The Devilish looking statue is fire god Atar. The last one is the wind god Vayu-Vata. Pretty impressive how they added persian mythology to this. It really increase the lore of this game. Also if you look at the warrior within manual (you will find a pdf online), you can see that a lot of fighting combos are name after persian gods as well. They really put a lot of thought into this.
@@femto02 Thank you, that's interesting. The presence of these statues in the Empress's fortress then suggests that she worshiped those gods. Perhaps they were her creators?
I liked that area, it's a diffente parkour, and I am thinking about the possible lore has to be. It's impressive how connect with the original game in the end.
Study Purpose While Ubisoft were making The Two Thrones, they probably used up the same level design from the bonus levels which were cut, in this level.
Dann I bought this one and the two thrones to replay them on pc since i´ve played revelations on psp back in the day. But when i found out these levels were´nt in the game it was so sad, even though the camera was horrible and the level design buggy the feeling from the bonus levels will forever stay with me as these weirdly open areas with harder climbs and fights than usual
So, I bought the trilogy on steam and was replaying this game. After completing it I swore there was a really annoying section with a giant statue... Turns out it was only on this version. That's really weird for me, who only played the psp versions of these games
It was not a part of the original PC/PS2/GameCube versions, they added them in the PSP version, and then PS3 versions came and they weren't there in it. The version in steam in the original pc version, so yeah.
I've seen your playthroughs from these bonus levels, I think the concepts are cool too, they could just added these levels on WW as optional or in hard mode, but well, the levels are obviously incomplete and full of bugs, by the way, I've downloaded this game yesterday but when I play it I have cleaner textures on my PPSSPP emulator and some kind of watermark, how did you get this config? Your resolution looks better than mine.
I turned on the ''disable faster effects'' option, and that got rid of the stupid mark in the middle of the screen for me. Vulkan backend produces better framerate but with this visual glitch, OpenGL has fewer glitches but has worse performance.
@@GMPranav Such an old-but-gold game. The first time I finished Warrior Within was actually on an ipod touch back in 2011, and still, it was such a fun time. Now my preferred way to play it is Steam, with widescreen patches and direct-input controller. It can even run on a shitty ultrathin laptop, at 1080p and mostly 60fps.
Are the artworks from the chests in these four new bonus levels new or are there still just 50 chests and some of them were moved there? Thanks for uploading footage of this bonus content. Personally I think the statue chamber is the most interesting one since it shows that the team wanted to explore the marid/efreet mythology even before Forgotten Sands.
There are 10 extra slots for artworks in the gallery and they do unlock new artwork (they are all from two thrones), so yeah all these are extra chests and all the original chests are intact in their place. However what's interesting is that there are only 9 chests across the 4 bonus areas. It's almost like Ubisoft forgot to assign a chest to a specific artwork. I am confident I didn't miss anything because I know someone called "BlackDaemon" who can analyse the game models and maps, and hee confirmed that there are only 59 instances of the chest texture (50 original + 9 bonus). Again, the artwork can be acquired without unlocking it from the game files. Just can't unlock that specific one in game.
@@GMPranav thanks bro i never played prince of Persia revelations but i have played warrior within i never saw this pictures but i saw them now and I think they predicted what's going to happen in POP TWO THRONES in those images maybe.
Hey man. I gotta problem. When I passed all those big statues, the game just blocked and switched off automatically on it's own. I'm playing it with psp emulator in my tablet by the way. Please do you have any solution the problem? Any answer would be appreciated! Thanks.
You meant the game crashed? Yeah that's a big problem, there isnt really a elegant solution to it. What I would suggest is to make a savestate just before the point where it happens and try to very very slowly proceed and hope it doesn't crash. If it does, just load the savestate annd try again.
If only this part and that tree bonus level was cutted. The first bonus level was good and that staircase puzzle was so annoying but it was not that bad if they would have added that one to pc it would create littlbe bit hype. But this one and that tree one was so useless. U can easily fall from any area.
try turning down all the graphics settings if you are playing on ppsspp (you can turn them back up after passing the area). You have to make sure your pc has a very minimal workload during that section.
Man I really love the Prince Of Persia franchise, the PoP Warrior Within is the best for me and on PSP the best for me is Rival Swords. But this alternative version of WW is very boring, seriously, these bonus levels made the game very boring and sickening, I really have hours that I want to quit because these phases are very exaggerated. I wasn't even going to finish it, I'm just playing out of curiosity because I love the original WW version. It should have been a little bit smaller and simpler, like Rival Swords, you didn't have to invent a lot of nonsense. I admire your patience in playing this version seriously
@@GMPranav Truth you said everything now, the concept of the bonus stages are cool but the design and some points of physics are not enough compared to the rest of the original game
