Poor Diana she didn't have a clue, prince Charles never smiles when they were together. All she wanted was to love and be loved and never got it rip Diana you were beautiful inside and out side.
They have matured since the awkward and dubious engagement interview that took place before this one. I think they both really wanted to make it work. Toward the end of her life, they were genuinely affectionate with one another at an event they attended together with their sons. I think they would have ended up good friends and shown the world how a blended family can come together amicably and still carry on with their public roles. That was probably what Diana would have wanted. Her title should never have been stripped from her after the divorce.
Charles should've been allowed to marry Camilla the first time around. Period. However, he needed to marry a "virgin" (or at the very least, not a divorcee), which is where Diana came in. However, Lady Diana admitted she was an adulteress, just as Charles was an adulterer. People in glass houses....
The Lady Interviewer is Angela Rippon..She Commentated on Harry and Megan's Wedding tonight.Princess Diana..so Lovely..I thought she was quite mature back then.
Yes, she was a real queen at heart....much of the same kind loyalty of Queen Elizabeth... In addition, she really cared about Charles himself and wanted his approval...
Diana's posture reveals how nervous she is and she can't help twiddling her fingers. A sweet, young and unworldly lady being used coldly by the Royal Family. It is very sad to watch.
She was used coldly by the Spencer family as well. She was not a commoner like Kate, she was aristocracy. Moving in the circles she moved in, she would've been "groomed" for things like this. Diana needed help and did not receive that help from her married or blood family
Indeed..shes so sweet n beautiful n her voice...i dont understand how charles did not fall in love with this woman... I seriously wanna go inside his head.. Why is he so head over heel over camilla..
Chris Mc Evoy Charles Camilla going will take down the monarchy watch out . Diana was the best thing that ever happened to him now she gone now what she realy loved him . Queen watch out for Camilla .
I'm 24 and loved her since as long as I can remember, as a kid. And now as an Adult the more I watch her videos interviews I admire her, she is such an inspiration to us all. It saddens me so much that she died so young and how she died, but at the same time she gives me hope. She said she'd rather be The Queen of People's heart and indeed she is. Diana the queen of people's heart. Theres a reason everyone, even today loves her misses her. There's a reason they used to call her People's Princess. :'(
Really overwhelming how beautiful, empathic Diana was at that time. Pure spirit. You can see it in her eyes. It was a gift of time to find someone like her in the public eye. She was very brave to take that grueling step
Traci Lynn I genuinely feel sorry for Diana Spencer but to be fair, she knew about Camilla Parker-Bowles long before the wedding day, so she shouldn't have agreed to marry the prince!
Charles - we are not allowed by tradition to see each other the night before the wedding. Actually thinking, that's great because I can see Camilla.....
Diana certainly looked worried and unsure, obviously Charles never took the time to realise just how young and uncertain she was, hence he never gave her the reassurance and support she needed and mustn't forget, he never loved her.
This interview took place the day before their wedding and she already knew that Charles and Camilla were still involved with each other. The wedding that should never have happened. He did not love her. In fact I think they only met two or three times before they got married. She was chosen because she was a virgin, of the right pedigree, and in childbearing years. Basically she was a brood mare.
This interview makes me so unhappy. Diana isn't even married to him yet and she already looks depressed. It was all just a show. No love or interest from Charles' side. He was lustful and wasn't in love with our queen.
Callum Fletcher Right. And look how happy he is now with Camilla. My heart breaks for Diana - she never deserved it whether it was an accident or planned murder. But looking at the other side of the story, I am genuinely impressed by Charles and Camilla's love story, even though they were so evil to Diana. They got married after 30 years! Such a patience! And they look very happy together which is quite nice. However, Diana was still lucky to get the spotlight becoming a princess. Even though her life was short and hard, she had an opportunity to touch many people's hearts and become famous as harsh as it sounds.
Wouldn't really term him lustful. Rather a royal chauvinist who thought he was doing his duty marrying a virgin to satisy his 'subjects' and that he cd go on with his own life like kings of old with their own concubines. That his love for Camilla lasted as it did was their destiny i guess.
Mitzi73 apparently he had met his Current wife before and wanted to marry her but his family was against it. Thus he wed Princess Diana instead. It was an arranged marriage by The Queen's mother.
@@junelong4790 Some people only come into this world to spill and perpetuate misery. The queen mother's marriage was also arranged, and I could be wrong but I really don't think that she loved her husband before marrying him _so in her mind everybody else had to endure and comply like her. So glad that those kinds of people are no more.
Its not unseal for men in their early 30s to became engaged to a teenager. 19 is young but its not a child. Some women behave like kiddies when really they are women. Deal with it she was over 18. I am disturbed that you think the age thing is the issue. The issue is he never loved her like he loved Camila and the marriage was arranged. Prince Charles was a victim too.
Seems like she's asking herself..." What am I getting myself into?" And she soon found out. It was all a sham. A sham to produce heirs to the throne. And it cost her her very life.
Charles is in a situation not of his choosing ! Wise up people please. How would you feel being forced to marry someone you didn’t love when the woman you’ve always loved was married to someone else. This poor man has been the punch bag for the whole royal family for years and years.
@@janel342 I absolutely understand Charles situation. My issue was he didn't treat her with any kind of sympathy. He knew she was thrown into the deep end and was nasty about it. Its like he didn't know how to be compassionate towards her. I think that lacking empathy thing was due to the got that he never got any either and treated Diana the same way he had been treated. I just can't get around the fact that he should have at least given her the help she needed instead of making the situation worse.
This is the day before their wedding. She already knew that Charles and Camilla were still involved with one another. The wedding that should never have happened. He did not love her. In fact I think they only met two or three times before they got married. She was chosen because she was a virgin, of the right pedigree, and in childbearing years. Basically she was a brood mare.
She already looks sad, and they were not even married yet. After reading Morton's book, I think she was troubled by her new life and fiance early on, shown by vomiting her food and losing weight even the day of or after they wed. So sad. They were not right for each other, but both had their personal problems.
"Theres so much to be done and I will have a problem controlling oneself" said Charles. Oh yes controlling himself with Camilla and finding time for diana
Diana was so sweet and lovely, yet switched on in a way that made her a perfect member of the royal family. This was such a different era. Can you imagine a 19-year-old girl dressed like this these days?
Even for back then she dressed too old. I was 7 years older than her, and I felt she dressed much older than me. I think she did that because she wanted to look near Charles's age. The problem was 33-year-old women did not dress that way. That was how 60-year-old women dressed. Lol! Today even 60-year-old women would not dress that old!
That's what I thought watching this. Studies show that couples who use plural personal pronouns more often ("we") tend to be more committed than couples who use the singular ("me"). His speech in this interview suggests that he wasn't very committed to Diana. (I'm a psychology major)
God, how many red flags were evident in that interview!!! Alas, stars in everyone's eyes meant that most people ignored those red flags, and only in hindsight is it screamingly evident in this interview that those two were not compatible in any sense.
If I had a time machine , I'd go back to 1981 with a book of Diana's life as she lived it, show it to her and tell her torun like hell as fast and as far away from this prat as she could get.
I got the same thought a out warning her .... Today March 2nd 2021 is the first time I have listened to several interviews (since I learned English) and I'm so upset on how much this Royal Family had been snoby towards everything coming from her.
Charles cannot stop talking about himself...I...I...I... Diana comes across in this interview as fun, down to earth, very warm, and sincere. It is terrible how the so-called royals used this teenager to get their heir and spare, knowing full well Charles was seeing Camilla.
Lorraine Tauson You are right, both of them really didnt want get married, never the less, this matter more to Charles than to Diana, she could have cancelled the wedding everytime that she want, the reason that she didnt do it because she still believe it that Charles love her and that he had ended with Camilla. Like I say before, this matter more to Charles than to Diana, because his mother, really didnt tolerate disobedience, and Charles would had lose his position in the royal family at the time. It funny because now at days his positions really dont matter much, one way or another he had screw up.
+Jena_Adam91 well I know she wasn't her entire life, what I'm trying to say is that there is no ideal woman. Dianna was indeed very beautiful and intelligent but even she had flaws... Just like everybody
I love her. She looks so miserable here bless her. I wonder what would've happened if they had called it off...She would still be alive at least. But we would never have know her.R.I.P
We would have still known her in Europe at least, since she came from one of the most prominent aristo families in the UK. So, looking the way she did, she would have always married someone high profile _she would have always been used in that fashion and would have always been a public figure, to the British public at least. Had the royal family not caught up with her first, someone else would have. She had too big a name and looked too attractive not to get a proposal from someone big in the game. Her older sisters were simply average looking. She was pretty much what in her circle they call a prized mare, and yes that is how those people talk. She herself used to say as a young girl that she knew she was going to marry someone in the public eye, she was very aware of her position and of how people perceived her.
listening to charles talk makes me feel deeply, profoundly nauseous. in all honesty, i'm surprised that diana made it through a single day without vomiting.
I agree. I would only kiss him if threatened with severe torture or death. My ancestor is the great Llywarch Hen, a counselor and poet to the court. Shame on Prince Charles for his dishonorable life.
Alas, all the warning signs were right here in this interview… They are totally out of synch from body language, to glances and replies. She looks pinched, defeated and not quite the bubbly and jolly fresh fiancé from the previous interview 5 months ago (when they announced their engagement). Her answers in this interview are mostly curt and uncertain. She perks up whenever she talks about children…otherwise poor Diana does not contribute much. Watch his face when she says it was not fun on her side to decide on her wedding guests due to the number limit imposed on her! He quickly fills in the gap when she pauses to talk about how HE went about his choices! Then compare this reply to William and Kate"s reply to a similar question in their engagement interview! I am certain this interview between his parents had William re-strategise the modus operandi when it came to Kate and his engagement and forward planning…
This interview took place the day before their wedding and she already knew that Charles and Camilla were still involved with each other. The wedding that should never have happened. I am the same age as Diana. I was just as young and naive and clueless. Just not enough life lived under our belts. I am 60 and Diana would be too. Different story at this age.
***** Actually she was seeing the Prince Charming, and she was flattered that she had his atention, sadly, it was until later that she realize that she never had his atention in first place, never the less, she was already marry to him when she realize that, and the Queen wasnt any help at all, because the only thing that she cared about is that Diana give birth to the future heirs of the thrones, her happiness was irrelevant.
Oh well Charles and horse face are together now. Hopefully the Queen would pass over Charles to go directly to William. Good for monarchy not having to put up with Charles and horseface
230608grace , sorry but it’s not up to the Queen; it’s a legal matter, and there is a strict order of succession. Unless Charles dies before his mother, he will be the next monarch.
I would look worn out if I had been married to a family that worships satan, and were mean to me. There is much for you to learn about them and what they really are, she was ready to spill the beans. They killed her.
But after the divorce she began to look more relaxed again...actually I think she looked her best the last year of her life..she looked exceptionally radiant, toned, carefree & confident.
septube26 she always looked beautiful, and there is a something unique with Diana...we call it beauty, but it is something more, joy and love and generosity of spirit, maybe. She brought some Light to the world.
It's really touching and kind of sad to see how very young and how terribly sweet she is here. So sad that she died so young. Terrible for her children and terrible for her chance to fulfill her own opportunities to grow more.
This is so hideously awkward. The db wants someone else, not her. She knows it and the whole thing is a complete lie. Guest list, ya there's one person she wishes wasn't on the guest list. She's been lured into marrying someone who hasn't bothered to spend more than a few days with because he's been busy shagging and crying to CPB who's stage managed the whole thing. He told Diana she was chubby!? and between finding out he's lying to her face and telling her she's fat she's developed an eating disorder because of his gaslighting and criticism. How do they (C&C) sleep at night? The queen should have given Diana the throne and shipped Charles and Camilla off to the Shetlands to raise sheep.
Seems like she's asking herself..." What am I getting myself into?" And she soon found out. It was all a sham. A sham to produce heirs to the throne. And it cost her her very life.
He's so physically unattractrive. I'm not the daughter of an earl, I'm just a commoner from a working class family, but if I were a blueblood and he had asked me to marry him, I would not have accepted. I can't imagine being in bed with the man. Even in his youth, he wasn't attractive [and let's not even get into his real personality]. I can't imagine what a pretty and charming girl like Diana saw in him.
billydeeuk You're probably right. Alas, I'm glad that she sowed her wild oats before dying and was able to meet diverse attractive men, unlike that horrible stuffy Charles.
Rayarena A lot of the "wild oats" that she sowed were sowed whilst she was still married. She is also had VERY PUBLIC relationships with James Hewitt and Dodi Al Fyed. Not very becoming for the mother of the future King or, indeed, any person with an ounce of class.
if she didn't marry him she would still be alive that was her biggest mistake marrying in to that family that they are not who they appear to be in public RIP DIANA
This is such an awkward interview to watch. To a certain extent, the topic's chosen for discussion are very boring. Prince Charles seems very rigid and awkward in this interview and Diana seems confused and unsure which in hindsight is exactly what was happening at the time. This was a total car crash in the making!
I realize that hindsight is 20/20, & I'm very likely reading into this, but the body language here speaks volumes to me. They seem clearly uncomfortable side-by-side. If the engagement interview ( "Whatever 'in love' means ") wasn't enough of an indication to her that she needed to get the hell outta Dodge, this one should have been.
She was too good for him. She was true class, royalty, kind, beautiful. He is not good looking, seems mean, evil, cheater...she would probably be still alive if she didnt marry this guy.
If you can read the book Diana In Her Own Words, she talked about this interview and how she felt and their problem during this interview. And the "tower of strength" meaning.
The response of the people was fantastic only because Prince Charles married Diana ,people were happy for Diana's coming into the royals ,I really wished to see Prince Charles and Princess Diana had become king and queen ,Diana would had brought honor to the royals and that people would had loved the Britain's royal had Diana would had been queen , this was the unfulfilled hope of the whole world..She was a person fit for a queen...but she is the queen in the people's heart...we will remember her the way she was ...
Exactly they should never been married Totally unsuitable but she wanted it and none of us would have known her if she had not married him but at least they produced Prince William
Love this. Diana looks beautiful and despite some of the negative comments here I do think Charles had great affection for Dianaat this time. Aristocracy and Royals didn't tend to marry for love in the past. Diana had apparently only been out with him 13 times prior to their engagement so that says a lot. Thankfully William and Kate have changed that and married for love like us mere mortals do!
8:08 Reporter asks Diana if it was easy putting together the guest list. Diana says no, not on her side, there are some ppl that needed to be removed. -cough cough- maybe like Camilla
