In the podcast, you highlighted the significance of overtime opportunities for airline pilots and the contract pilot work available for corporate pilots. Could you elaborate on any potential challenges or trade-offs that pilots might face when deciding between these additional income opportunities and maintaining a healthy work-life balance?

When reading the pilot pay scale chart, let's say you work for 5 years as an FO and then upgrade to Captain, do you start back at year 1 or does that pickup at year 5 where you were? I'm not sure if that chart means the years at that position or total years worked at that airline. Thanks for making these videos guys.
@ProPilotPlaybook
@ProPilotPlaybook Год назад
Great question! If you upgrade year five you get 5 year captain pay. Thanks for asking.

Hi Guys, great info we really appreciate the podcast. I am getting my PPL but I am 51yo, do you think is too late for a corporate gig? I am really healthy which is a plus, now when it comes to your medical, do you need a third, second or first for corporate? Thank you for you input!
@ProPilotPlaybook
@ProPilotPlaybook Год назад
Absolutely you're not too old! You will need at least a second-class medical, first class if your captain. I have flown with many corporate pilots in their 60s. You can have a long career at 51. Please jump in. Keep us posted on your journey.

@@ProPilotPlaybook Hi guys thank you for you answer. A few days back I asked my CFI about me working towards the corporate world. My CFI is about to retired from AA and dedicate her self to a full time commitment to teach as a CFI, she is really knowledgeable when it comes to teach and advising. (35,000 plus hours) wow. Any way her answer hit my gut so hard that took me a day to shake it off, she said: " Javier you have so many problems multitasking that by the time you learn everything it is going to be too late and too old, not a good idea, not a good plan" ouch it hurts. Any way she is right I do have a problem multitasking, I soloed at 45 hours, still working on short and soft takeoffs and landings not close to cross country. Any ideas how can I overcome the multitasking 😁. Thanks for your imput. You guys are awesome 🛫

Hey I’m thinking on going to ATP flight school but do think is worth it ? Cause the program is a lot of money but it’s looks like the fastest way and also a well known flight school. I’m worried about the debt I’m gonna have.

You mentioned that international flights were more complex, what’s makes a flight complex?
@ProPilotPlaybook
@ProPilotPlaybook Год назад
Hi, thanks for the question. International flights require extra training. They are more complex because you're often times stretching the airplane to its maximum limits. You're also dealing with complex navigation over the ocean.

If you are a 5 year FO for an airline and get hired by a different airline, do you start at the new airline at the 5 year FO pay?
@ProPilotPlaybook
@ProPilotPlaybook 9 месяцев назад
No, you go back to first year pay. If you go from a regional to a major airline, though there may be less of a pay cut.

Meh I work for a regional airline, there isn't much extra pay, mostly all flying we do is straight time pay, no on time bonus, no time and a half over garuntee, open time pick up is paid at straight pay. Once and a while trips are available for an incentive but then you're working all your days off and never home. I'd say that hourly number times 1000 is accurate, don't expect much more unless you're at a major.
@ProPilotPlaybook
@ProPilotPlaybook 2 года назад
Hey William, thanks for the comment. Hopefully you're at a regional that has a "Flow-Through" program? Just remember, every step on the pilot career ladder is better than that person you know sitting under the fluorescent lights everyday that only gets to dream about the view from your office window! The good job is coming very soon, hang in there...

Funny part I’m an entrepreneurial student studying pre dentistry right now with a passion for aviation. Only reason why I’m so eager to do aviation is for happiness however I’m not sure if sticking to dentistry would work better for me as the pay is huge and reliable

the airlines will save ridiculous money when robots take over flying as pilots are a major expense.
