Thats exactly the problem. If you didnt pick the ones that make you millions. Then every point feels wasted. But then if everyone picked the make millions ones, then its oversaturated and no one makes anything.

You only make millions if you got lucky and got in there first and got the recipes and all the other good stuff. I have nine characters with their crafting professions completely maxed out in every regard and I can't make more than a few thousand gold a day at best. I literally have one of every crafting profession and none of them are in demand. I've tried advertising in town. I tried advertising and services. I tried advertising on the forums. I tried advertising literally everywhere that I can and nothing. No personal orders. The only thing they ever do, is people expecting me to supply 99% of the materials and then they're like oh, here's three pieces of mats and then like a hundred gold as a tip.

I really do hope they provide major catchup knowledge for after these expansions end, though. The current (DF) system isn’t really reasonable for old content. Make knowledge just straight up buyable or heavily increase drop rates of dragon shards, or something.

That's not entirely true. Take Season 4 start for example. Everyone who played the addon can easily be maxed out with skill. And I made 3.5 million gold with frozen spell thread r3 alone. Everyone could have done that.

@@POTATOEMPN If you have your professions maxed and nobody wants anything crafted the problem isn't your profession, the problem is that you're clearly on a DEAD SERVER. If you were on a populated server with people pushing gear and tons of people in chat, you have the REVERSE PROBLEM... I'm a max crafter on a populated server and every few seconds someone in trade says "Need a Blacksmith to make Item-X rank-5"... I instantly respond to the guy and he says "sorry, I already got 8 other BS's who whispered me"... literally, i'm not joking. Having been on a dead server, and having occasionally gone back to an old alt on a dead server, I can instantly tell the difference between an active server and a dead server by trade chat and profession requests... what you described is CLEARLY that you are on a dead server. If you want the situation to change, you either need to move to a populated server or reroll on a populated server. Staying on your current server, things will never get better. I was there once, i understand as I've seen both sides of server population and how it effects the gaming experience.

I want BOP items removed as well. I'm a crafter and when I craft something my intent is to sell it to someone else. I'm not wasting valuable resources to craft an item just to look at it and say how cute it is and that's it. I've been crafting in all MMOs that I've played and the concept that making something I can't sell to another player is okay is not okay! It's dumb and the individual who thought up this should be regulated to cleaning out toilets with his tongue so he can appreciate having a toilet bowl brush to use instead.

Yup that's pretty much the only gripe I had with DF professions too.. and the public work order thing would be great to get fixed for TWW.

Good comments. I'm thinking about knowledge points. It may be a quicker route to get where u want to be from a crafting profession than DF...but the kp may be harder to obtain ?. I busted my A** with the professions in DF and consider it the worst in wow history..all that time and gold investment and still can't achieve a top lvl product is brutal. I hope the devs have learned something going into TWW. And that's my rant for today lol.

We wouldn’t need catchup mechanics if the professions were leveled linear and not this weird operant curve of random chances and droprates. Why do we need like 6 profession-exclusive currencies and materials that are all soulbound? Reeks of lazy design

I sort of disagree. "effective crafter" doesn't mean catching up to everyone else. With the current state of the alpha one can VERY EASILY reach a point where they can R4 most items, R5 with concentration. The difference between crafters in TWW isn't whether they can R5 an item, it's how many times they can do it in a day

@@SoulSoBreezy Terrible take. Effective crafter means exactly being caught up with everyone else. If you can't make r5 consistently you are useless in DF from a crafting perspective. And if you didn't start at launch and grind professions early through the crafting orders or with your guild you are boned. The mats needed to craft the gear is outlandish. Every profession needed a way to hit max crafting and it wasn't possible if you were late, so instead people just did gathering professions. If they don't have a way to hit max crafting level without jumping through insane hoops I will just go gathering with my guys instead.

To put tertiary stats? Hmm

(1) i imagine that they will require a group at first, but eventually you'll be able to solo everything with your gear enhanced enough. (2) strongly doubt it, this is an MMO and they are not gonna omit group content entirely, that being said you get a Neck, Rings and Trinket set just by dinging 70 and completing SOME achievements, so it's not ENTIRELY locked in Group. (3) again, strongly doubt that. you wont even have access to the AH during your stay in remix, you'll probably only be able to customize to that degree when back in the present day.

Speaking for me at least, I wouldn't be supportive knowledge that could be hard farmed (and we already sort of have it with dragon shards). Encourages this unnecessary degen sort of behavior that isn't consistent with other parts of today's game.

@@SoulSoBreezy if we can’t rapidly get to max quality early in a patch when people actually need it, then really are we providing a service to the mass of main players or just those that play alts? If the masses, who can’t afford the time to devote only to professions but need the gold to buy our products (thus forcing folks to buy WoW tokens thereby making it a pay to play game thus excluding youth thereby keeping new subs… literally ‘cutting their noses off to spite their face’ adage come true) , can’t quickly raise up their professions to compete with the few players that play solely for the economy, whilst blizzard made crucial gains, then they will have not solved the main problems the senselessly complex Dragonflight changes made… some more striking balance must be made between the economy players and the player base… just as blizzard struck a nice balance between PVE and PVP player bases…

@@benderWestlund most of these complaints come from people who aren't good at professions. It took me an entire expansion to get the grasp of it, and it really isn't that bad. I barely made any gold, probably cancelled out. Especially little compared to the mils from shadowlands legendaries. People need new stuff, especially at new seasons, and early days per week, as they do their weeklies. Otherwise its a server population issue. I think concentration will put a limit to the oversupply, and bring up demand. So you can compete. Wasting points is my only real gripe.

@@7PlayingWithFire7 most of these complaints that I cite are from people from three separate servers and multiple guilds who had, or have, extensive alt armies not as described by you (but I may have misunderstood your point), but I am heartened by the fact that you did prove my point… it took you an entire expansion to learn at least one profession and then to barely make any gold… that system is exclusionary by design, reducing competition, driving up prices, if you can even determine what they are behind the order system… it’s totally hidden unless you bark it in trade chat… which brings me to yet another point… if I want something crafted,, by a profession I don’t have (note: it takes almost an entire expansion now to be effective at a profession), I have to be on at the same time as the crafter to determine what the price will be based on whether I have to provide the mats or the crafter has to provide some or all of the mats… for the previous 15 + years, you just go up to an AH, purchase what you needed and you had it that moment, no matter what shift you were working… not now… now you have to guess what the price is, negotiate blindly for weeks perhaps or be on precisely at the times the now limited crafters are in game…. It ALL comes down to time and player has to commit both to professions or even just purchasing items in a pay to play world… the new system that Soul described goes a long way towards that by reducing points, the number of required types of mats and even getting rid of the quality system of mats (that even further complicate an already over complex system) but doesn’t quite go far enough… the profession development team DID NOT get the Dragonflight note from Blizzard… listen to the player base, stop unnecessary complexity/hazing, and limit game time to 10-12 hours a week to allow folks to play the game and craft

So frustrating. Explanations, just a couple words, please. Instead they repeat the term over and over. If you pick finesse, you will get more finesse, this means even more finesse.

Absolutely agree. Played DF at launch, then came back just before season 4. No catch up that I can find and way to convoluted to figure out.

I just started this January and I completely agree. Doesn’t help that I’ve been dragging my feet doing the main story (mostly playing plunderstorm & catching up on events) so I dont have access to crafting World Quests yet. Also, the whole crafting orders system looks cool, but either you have to know the recipes to see the orders, or it’s a dead feature this late in the exp 😂

DF launch was good that is it. If you want to play a fun and modern version world of warcraft get into Cata before launch on May 20.

Hard to say; the secondary stats on new tools are massive increases from the old tools but no telling if they're just overinflated right now

I miss the old method of 'have X mats, craft item Y' and that was it, specialization if it was there was simple like choosing goblin or gnomish engineering. It didn't need to be more than that.

kind of depends. I imagine R4s will be dirt cheap to make and people will settle on that for now then check back for a recraft. Also, if you think about it nearly all DF crafters even with not so great skill can R4 an item. Now pretend concentration is a thing. All of them can R5 guaranteed at any given point in time

Try being a Tauren. We defend Thunder Bluff from the Jailor's wraiths and it sets us up to go reunite with Cairne and his wife in the Shadowlands... and all that content was cut.

@@henrychurch6062 Yeah, but their heritage quest at least put some respect on them and what they are. Gilnean heritage was all about how terrible being a worgen is and how the affliction should never spread because it's so terrible even though it grants incredible boosts to strength, agility and speed, as well as straight up resistance to standard necromancy, and was arguably the only reason they managed to fend off the Forsaken. It's basically an insult to anybody who's a fan of the race, to say nothing of the spit in the eye that was the reclamation.

I made a good few hundred k off making shields cause I was the only psycho on the realm who was willing to spec for it at the time lol

Yeah as more items are enabled I'll be able to answer that question, lots of testing involved to simulate that behavior

Do you consider the activities towards earning sparks (weekly outdoor content) to be beyond your level?

@@SoulSoBreezy It is just gatekeeping the professions. I can't earn enough to progress in the professions in any meaningful way. You have to remember, not everyone can play as much as you all do. Leveling up the professions is a bit grueling this expansion.

Looking at the professions on my roster and DF is the one with the most recipes unlearned because the drops just didn't happen for me and the AH prices were brutal on my server. It made me miss when you just bought from the trainer.

i didnt bother with crafting but the gathering professions are pretty nice. the little knowledge boosts or w/e to give you procs for better stuff from each thing you gather is actually pretty rewarding. Guy in my guild has every profession maxed this expac and told me he's earned near gold cap just in the past year which tells me that a lot of people are like you and myself. Couldn't be bothered with the different tiers and components of crafting. Hopefully war within when the finished product is released the crafting is less daunting
