almost 16k in, your labor should not be cheap since you're a PRO, labor wise around 7-8k maybe a bit more, you're touching now 24k..if you sell it you'll break even. I'd say keep it if you can, it is a beautiful car not done anymore and you're 100% you did an awesome job.

Some of you have misunderstood. This video isn't meant to show how much YOU will spend to purchase and rebuild an STI. It shows how much HE spent. Obviously there are a lot of things here that would be hard to replicate for the average person. 1. Finding a totaled but clean title STI for cheap (let's not pretend - it was totaled, the title just doesn't say it) 2. Having a trailer/truck to bring the car home 3. Having a nice/warm place to work on the car that isn't your slanted driveway or apartment complex parking lot 4. Having the knowledge, experience, and confidence to take on this project in general 5. Having access to the tools/people/shops needed to do this work (or support you when you hit a snag or can't do something) 6. Getting good deals on things you can't do (i.e. painting front and back bumpers for $550 - that's absurdly low.) I could go on, but you get the point.

Hell of a good job man. All that work was worth it. If you're looking to sell it, even with the wreck, you could ask a good amount. Even STIs that are highly modified are going for $30k+. This being a clean title and stock (stock is always better kids) with just body changes $20k is a very reasonable ask.

I would have aimed for spending about the same amount as the original price, but 7k+8k isn't too bad. If you can get at least 20k for it, that's a 30% return. (although that return doesn't include the cost of your labour). Overall it has turned out a great looking car.

MrSubaru what would you recommend for a full maintainance of a 2008 Forester with 198,000 miles. It used, as far as l can tell, 1/2qt oil in the last 3000mile oil change just running locally 45-55mph. I can smell a bit of antifreeze when I get to Walmart, about 20 miles l added less than a qt. maybe a pint of antifreeze at oil change.

I really want to buy a used Impreza Hatchback with either a 6-speed manual or preferably an automatic transmission. The big holdback is the cylinder head problem. Which year did they start putting in the proper head gaskets? Is there a big difference between the 2.0 and 2.5 or the turbo cars as far as reliability? I'm retired and want to avoid the major design problems.

I pulled my 09 forester motor to do head-gaskets.. I’ve resurfaced the heads and bought the “turbo model”MLS Gaskets. The block is not warped. I’ve done the correct process to put the heads back on but oil from inserting the bolts back in must’ve gotten between the gasket and head/block before torque because after fully torqued I noticed it squeezed a little of that clean oil out where the gasket is. DO I NEED to pull those off and redo the process carefully with less oil on the bolts?

I ran into an issue when doing the 2018 STi Front Bumper conversion on my 2016 STi. Now my climate control temperature is erratic. Sometimes when I have the heat at 80 and I turn it down to let's say 62, the air coming out feels as if it's still on 80. Only way to have cool air come out is if I turn temperature all the way to LO setting. I didn't hook up any fog lights when I didn't the conversion. Do you think the unplugged fog lights/harness might have thrown something electrical off that's affecting my climate control temperature? I can't think of anything else. It started after the conversion was done. Thanks

I feel that's a bit of a crazy amount to have invested to fix this up, but damn, if they're worth that much, then i guess it's not so crazy. Ecologically good to repair and keep it on the road, too. I think my takeaway is that I'm envious and wish i had the resources to throw around for a project (or projects) like this. Some of the labor seems a bit intimidating - mostly the body work - but i don't see why i also couldn't do this with my skills and tools. Are you still working in a dealership as primary income? Hello, I apologize for bringing up this question to you. I recently purchased a 2023 WRX. I got bored and started to browse around the internet. I just found out that there is a PN difference between 22-24 Base and other models. Base Model: 32000AK580 (TY751V6BCB) Premium/Limited/TR: 32000AK570 (TY751V6BCA) I have a Premium model and confirmed through the ID plates that I have the 570 (BCA). I just got curious. I sent this question to SOA, but said to contact local dealer. So far, none of the dealers here in the US is willing to answer the question. Just trying to know the specifics/differences between the 2 transmission. I was wondering if your parts department will be able to tell the differences or parts access will be able to tell the difference between the two. Thanks in advance
