I know this is barely relevant to the conversation, since you only talked about it for a small part but: While I don't think its inclusion in a game is the end of the world, the problem with L cancelling for me is that it's what I like to call an input tax. It doesn't really add any depth to the game, as there's never a reason to NOT L cancel, it just punishes newer players. If there were some system that rewarded decision making on when and when not to L cancel, I'd be cool with it. But as it's implemented in Melee and PM, I think the only purpose it serves is more inputs for its own sake. For the record, I'm primarily a PM player and have been playing since 2.6
