In this week's episode of Pros vs Ams, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb of Athletic Motion Golf dive into the shoulder rotation and arm depth of the golf swing.
If you're a player who is confused or struggling with shoulder rotation and/or arm depth during your golf swing, this training is most definitely for you.
The shoulder rotation or shoulder turn in the golf swing is a detailed move that can be simplified and in today's video, you'll get a shoulder turn lesson and arm depth lesson that will greatly improve your game when implemented.
You'll also discover how to get more lead arm depth in your golf swing. And we mean getting real depth and not just fake depth in the backswing so you're better ball striking.

I just discovered this channel. Your 3D animation and explanation of shoulder prostration and retraction is eye-opening. After just a few slow motion practice swings, I could see and feel how “widening” the swing should work. I instantly had much less left arm bend in my backswing. I never understood how other players could keep their left arm straighter than me until now. I just thought that I didn’t have the flexibility.

I think the reason we don't see the right shoulder in the proper back position is because most older golfers think that the right elbow needs to be tucked which moves the joint forward like they see in Ben Hogan 5 Lessons of Golf. Sometimes what the eyes see is transformed into misconception and not actually what is really happening in the golf swing. First time I've heard someone cover this, thank you!
@AthleticMotionGolf
@AthleticMotionGolf 2 года назад
Such a great point. The “transformed into misconception” is a great way to say it. Thanks hen add in all how we all see things a bit differently and it’s inevitable that what we think happens will start deviate from what does happen. Thanks for commenting.
@CoIoneIPanic
@CoIoneIPanic Год назад
Dont stop pull hooking. You want a weak slice that 100 yards shorter and equally off line?? A pull hook swing is like an engine that starts but has bad timing. A slice is an engine that just sputters and wont start. A pull hook can be turned into a draw but a slice never turns into a fade. One simple drill (holdig a towell under the right armpit) can give a bad pull hooker the feeling of correct timing. There is more correction required of course. But tuning a slice move like that is impossible. Bottom line is the golf swing PULLS the club through the strike. Allways. Teach a slicer to pull hook is the first step in their rehabilitation. 😅😅

@@AthleticMotionGolf I don’t think I’ve even seen many golf tips or videos out there that describe the role of pronating the shoulder blade and reducing the adduction angle. It’s really insightful! I struggled a lot with way over adducting the left shoulder and getting it stuck behind. It even can cause impingement pain issues over time. I just didn’t have a good understanding of what to do to fix it. It makes a lot of sense now to think of how the shoulder blade and collar bone pivots sort of as a whole. That quickly fixed my issues once I realized this. The swing feels much easier now to time and be able to move hands fast into hitting area etc. this of course relates to the other great video about clubhead speed from a while back on here.

Trying to catch-up with your videos. I'm a visual learner - this is an excellent companion to the lead arm depth video. Seeing that shoulder protraction part is such a key concept. These 2 videos have helped me minimize the right elbow bend. Keep 'em coming!

This is gold. I ordered an online lesson from you guys where we tried to work on my steepness with the yo-yo drills, that was helpful but it still felt forced. This move now makes me feel like i have actual room to do that move without smashing into my body. Thank you very much!

I’ve watched so many amg videos and learned so much and definitely improved my swing and my ball striking but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I tend to go across at the top of my swing and why I get so steep on the down swing. I think this video just showed me why. I haven’t been turning my shoulders enough.

The timing of this upload for me is amazing, I just listened to your podcast from 2020 about lead arm depth and i thought how cool it would be if you could see a swing with the shoulders fixed to understand how the arms actually move 😮. Btw incredible illustrations.

It’s all about timing😊. We’ve actually had a lot of requests for that type of illustration. We’ve been working on this software for at 2 years now, feels good to finally be able to use it. We hope it helps!

This new visualization ability is INSANE! I'm helping my dad get back some distance and passion for the game from this better technique. He's been losing the love for the game going into his 60's just blaming age. Now he's getting some ways to "fight back" against Father time. THANK YOU!

This detailed explanation of shoulder rotation has supercharged my swing in a way I never thought possible. It was nearly instantaneous with a warmup on the range and then out to the course. It just made everything about my swing better. It's a nearly effortless improvement.
