I made infinite with someone’s own card once. I used praetors grasp and found their copy of time sieve. After my first turn with it I had a swft foot booted etali and my deck has enough ways to produce more treasures and exile cards. They just surrendered right then and there.
I built Prosper to be a fun, reasonable deck that focuses on things like Reckless Fireweaver to ping things away. But people kept focusing me out the gate. So now Prosper is for Underworld Breach shenanigans and turbo loops.
"Become the problem they *thought* you were" has unfortunately taken over a few of my decks. The pod has now learned that when i say a deck is jank, it is jank.
I built this deck after seeing the episode of you using it at the table on another channel. I call my version, "Mr. Steal-yo-girl" and his slogan is "Your win-con? I think you mean, OUR win-con."
I picked up prosper after like 2 a year hiatus and he quickly became my favorite for how funny he is when he pops off. Even when he pops off without winning you already have enough treasure to overthrow Morocco
My first commander deck...and hes's just a Simic Value engine disguised in the 'see the world burn' colors. I run him with plenty of chaos and 'lets see what your opponent's deck' does stuff. Highly recommended.
I upgraded Prosper’s precon to play as my back up deck while my cards arrived… it ended up better than my other deck. Rakdos just has such a good card pool for Prosper, treasures even trigger effects by being sacrificed and “going to the GY”.
Number one reason to run cards in other languages, if they can’t read it they won’t know, better yet if you wanna get super silly run a bunch of land destruction but in other languages they won’t know what hit them until their lands are already gone
You: I cast (read in German) "Epicenter". Me: cool what does it do? You: read what it does in german Me: what does it actually do, in English please? You: you're going to have to let the card resolve to find out... Hey where are you going. Me: To play with other players who aren't jackasses.
playing against Prosper in my experience is him gaslighting you into thinking you have the advantage only for Marionette master to be played and you get instantly vaporized by 5-10 treasure tokens
As someone's who's first commander deck was Prosper Tome bound, and is by far my favorite commander--This is accurate. It's all fun and games until the Exile deck starts playing stax cards.
This is basically how you play Simic without playing Simic, right? Get you some card advantage, get you some mana ramp, get you a big ol' nerd who reads books for a living...
In my Prosper deck, I found out about a 1/3 Red Artificer from Kaladesh that pings opponent whenever an artifact enters the battlefield field. Don’t even need to use my treasures to be a treat. He’s quite the workhorse
Prosper and every card that lets you exile cards to play later = Fun. Add in that Dwarf that lets you sac 5 treasures to Amazon out a dragon or artifact = YEE HAW!
I love that when I first played him last weekend my friends didn’t see him as a threat till I casted their most busted spells for free while also making treasures in the process 🤣🤣
So, a really fun addition to a Prosper deck that I have discovered is Street Urchin. While I don't get to use it as a background in the usual sense, the effect is just crazy enough with Prosper to run it anyways. You should be getting at LEAST one treasure per turn, and Street Urchin is able to to take that and just make Prosper able to machine gun down entire boards. It's even better if you can get Academy Manufacturer out, because then you don't even need to feed the treasures into the machine gun, you can just stuff it with food.
All i'm saying is there are quite a few fortell cards in red/black that lets you get free value thanks to prosper. And the worst is not even a foretell card, dream devourer, which gives every card without foretell, foretell. That 5 cmc card in your hand is now costs 2 to fortell, 3cmc to cast, and you get a treasure from it.
My favorite combo is to have propesper on the field, play revel in riches and then slap damnation down at the end so I can collect the treasures from all the dead creatures.
Fevered suspicion in the original precons inspired me to use him as a theft commander. Oh and don't forget about inspired statuary, literally the best card to use with him
If we're talking about tax evasion I'd love to see a video on the queen of fraudulent mana abuse herself: Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty. Because it's only fair to Simic to let them cast Eldrazi titans *and* a bunch of friends for free.
Been asking for her for a while. In arena the best so far has actually been Scholar of the Lost Trove cascading into Time Walk (from an Oracle of the Alpha), then once Scholar resolved, replayed the Time Walk from the grave
@@theanalogkidmodular I personally don't play arena. But in paper Commander the worst/best I've been able to pull off is by using scroll rack to stack my top deck and getting Ghalta, Primal Hunger > Time Stretch > Majestic Genesis > Tyranax Rex > Spitting Image > Saryth, the Viper's Fang. All of those cards, for only {G}{G} thanks to Ghalta. I felt like I needed a shower after that play...
Ezuri, The Claw of Progress deserves your attention. No one expects the army of chumps to really do anything, but then I take infinite turns and/or swing with chumps pumped up on so much steroids they'd be impotent if I didn't have 6 ways to give them trample. Everyone quickly learns they need a sniper dedicated to keeping the progress at bay which is why I never leave the house without all the bullet proof boots of hexproof. Experience has taught me that experience isn't pure jank at all, totally fair ancestral wealth
Always feels like everytime i wanna build prosper, i end up creating a monstrosity that creates way too much value, it's hilarious and terrifying at the same time. Also, would love hearing your opinion on Kros, defense contractor
He’s just that much fun! By himself he generated a lot of value and then after a few upgrades it was slow and painful but I was able to get a good number of ping wins with naiders nightblade. Then they released baldurs gate and their backgrounds. That was a mistake 😊 Oh and Nalfeshnee. Yeah copying everything you cast for me exile isn’t problem. Nope.
This man has roasted just a couple of my commanders, so I guess I'm not much of a tax evader. I very much am when I play Elminster, though. Please roast him!
As a prosper player that my playgroup kinda hates but also enjoys this is pretty accurate. I personally run about 6 or so pingers that deal damage to each opponent when an artifact enters or leaves then i like to combo it with orthion once i get huge amounts of mana and just ping people for like 30 damage per artifact. I think mirkwood bats is my favorite pinger by far cause it triggers on entering and leaving.
Along the play from exile theme, I'd love to see a Quintorius, Loremaster review. This man can play literally any nonland non creature spell in colors the turn after he's cast, I'm talking Overwhelming Splendor, Storm Herd, City of Fire, or explosive singularity. And then you throw in Red's potential to copy spells so I'm here making 60+ pegasi on turn 8, then cellar door becomes revolving door as you cycle through the same spell again and again. Or just go-wide tokens with a few anthems and doublers. Even play Hofri to get nontoken spirits back that you sac!
Prosper? More like prospering on the tears of your enemies! You amass treasure faster than the amass mechanic creates armies. You are the richest man alive and you best make sure the other players do not forget it. My recommendations for the next roast? Emmara, Soul of the Accord. 1/1 with lifelink? Haha, try 50 of them.
Honestly, Morophon would be a great one to see you cover if you haven’t already. A little bit of everything, all of the time, all in the command zone? Sign me up.
Playing Prosper has led me to one of my all-time favorite cards, Praetor’s Grasp. I’m taking your best spell and slapping you in the face with it, get shit on
Prosper doesn’t do much for his owner if he’s on *your* side of the field. I once stole an opponent’s Prosper with the red “War” saga that came in the Izzet Baldur’s Gate precon. I blocked an attack with Prosper before he went back; that player doesn’t speak to me anymore...
