Rachel, this is absolutely wonderful, and incredible how just this morning I woke up with my wrist hurting and realized I was coming close to a carpal tunnel with all of the yoga I have been doing, just like 15 years ago when I went crazy with hot yoga and had no instruction. This is what we need to focus on- the foundations! It is such an important part of a consistent and enjoyable yoga practice. And here I am, looking at your video with the answer! Not just for me, but for those I will get to guide into the practice, ideally avoiding all of the things I did wrong as a starting out yogini. I just have to say that as a yoga teacher-in-training student, I have found your teaching absolutely phenomenal and really humbling and supportive of what I am learning. Since finding your channel I have been seriously considering moving back to BC, just so I can tend some of your training in person. Thank you for your devotion to the art and the science of yoga, holistic wellness, and teaching! You are a gem. - Hugs, Sasha

Hi Sasha, I am so glad that this is helpful! That is wonderful! And all of us always need to go back to the foundation lol. I am actually in Colorado right now and if you are ever inspired, come and practice with me online! I’ll be teaching classes again this fall 😘💫💫

Rachel, Recently, I've encountered a sharp pain in my left wrist, likely due to incorrect wrist alignment during my Ashtanga yoga practice. Finding your video was a game-changer for me. The pain has significantly decreased, allowing me to maintain my practice of the primary series six times a week-a feat that feels nothing short of miraculous! I am immensely grateful. Your teaching style is exceptional-straightforward, clear, and delightfully humorous. Truly a remarkable discovery!

Yan ~ that is AMAZING. I am so happy to hear that you have discovered a way to move in your practice that has reduced your wrist pain ~ we love ashtanga...and it's also a style that ~ because of its consistency ~ will all too readily illuminate those little places we may be a little "off." YAY! Glad to have you here and I hope the channel is able to be a resource for your continuing practice. :)

Oh my goodness, i can't stop watching your videos! i am a retired now (just noticed the word 'tired' in retired; truth to that!) physical therapist assistant (age 76) and the only yoga i know is from watching some videos I ordered (from Coleen Saidman, and from long ago on TV Lilias and some other yoga videos) but YOU, have helped me so much to understand what I'm doing and how to do it! I love yoga so much and have been sad b/c doing sun Salutations and too many chaturanga's caused shoulder and neck pain. I knew it was poor form but didn't understand exactly how. I probably forgot more about anatomy over the years and frankly never really fully understood in my training as a PT Assistant. So yeah, i love your 'anatomy nerd alerts'.

Glad to have you here Joy! Lilias!!! Yes! an original yogi! I imagine you have a lot of experience with the body from your work as a PTA - but it's funny how sometimes that doesn't translate! It's great that you are connecting the dots in a way to make the practice yours :)

@@RachelScottYoga ... LOL. Hi again. Yes. Well, I've always disliked pushups and was more into running in my younger years but OA got to my knees and as that slowed down turned to the spin bike and then covid which threw me (and everyone in the world) in a tailspin. As i turned to jogging for cardio the knees really got bad and then back into yoga. I never thought i could do child pose again after two knee replacements but got there! Anyway, probably my PT training helped me more with doing my own knee rehab than anything else. Your verbal cues and instruction for the shoulder is so appreciated. I know you probably have been told this a million times but you are amazing.

Great tips! Perhaps rolling up the front of one's mat could mimic the wedge, kind of like doing the same thing to lift the heels in a squat/malasana.

@RachelScottYoga

Funny, right now, me too! It’s hard to say why, it could be so many things. If it’s feasible, I recommend that you hit up your doctor or physiotherapist to help figure out what it might be.
