You nailed it. I bought recently a cechc04 and tryed the delidding for the first time, crazy hiw easy it was. I used the same Tools as Used in the Video. Instand succsess.
@@bastimeier616Cechk01 phat enjoyer here. Fixed the ylod but now the cpu overheats upon activation. My only issue is that I don't have a heat gun😅 I think my hair dryer'll work
Thanks very much for this great Video man! I bought recently a cechc04 and tryed the delidding for the first time, crazy how easy it was. I used the same Tools as Used in the Video. Instand succsess. Thanks very much, my PS3 runs now like a charm.
Very good tutorial on the process. I have an A07 model coming very shortly, and I’ll be stripping it for a good clean and inspection. If this console ever fails I’ll be contacting you guys to check it out.
Not so sure now. It’s never been opened, and only has 3 days usage. I’d hate to kill it trying to do the CELL. Might need to try an old G model or 2, the ones that if you kill them it doesn’t really matter.
Hi sir ,in a ps3 slim type cech 2004a ,can I remove the termal paste under the ihs ? The console works well but it gets too hot when i play games in it . Thanks and amazing video
Hello Sir, amazing Work! I just got 2 ps3 60 gb backwardscompatible from Ebay and i want to delid both in a few days. Just waiting for parts like paste, thermal pads and stuff like that. As i saw correctly that u dont need to Glue it back just remove the old glue and put the ihs back on when applied new paste, espacially concerning about the cpu when you remove the glue around it, is there not an difference in height on the outside? I was thinking about doublesided tape but maybe it is not needed?
@@aceconsolerepairs will cleaning old thermal paste and reapplying new thermal paste every other year be enough to avoid deliding and risk damging console?
Good afternoon, i saw you use 500 degrees full air. How long are you staying on the CPU with the hot air? I noticed you stated the video was sped up for that part. Thanks
Yes,your CELL will need a delid. It’s not something you should try do if you’ve no experience with it. The safest option would be to take it to a professional
@aceconsolerepairs nice go know, I had heard it was intended for vibrations. But I will give it a shot when it's time for a delid, liquid metal seems too expensive to me and I'd still need paste regardless
Mod it and keep an eye on temps. If it's working then don't touch anything just stock spare parts for that model. If its running hotter than it should then you could delid and change paste.
I would like some advice please: My CECH-P (160GB) fat PS3 works perfectly fine for a period of time, but then shuts off with a blinking red light. What could this be - is it the dry old paste under the IHS's??
I'm about to readd thermal paste for the first time on my fat launch ps3 model. Is it enough to just clean old thermal paste and reapply new one every other year instead of risking damaging console by delidding?
I did it also for the first time. In the fristplace i only delidded the RSX, the PS3 overheated again, so i delidded also the Cell, Take your time, and use hotair, and the metal tool he is using, flat out the metal tool, and sharp it in the process, bent it a littlebit. So you make sure no other component on the board gets hurt. Not Sure, but i think his tool is also flatted out a bit, can See it in the Video. But so the tool fits perfectly between the heatspreader and the cell.
It’s a stainless steal spatula ground down with a dremel so it’s thin and sharp. If you don’t have a dremel, you can use a file or the concrete floor works well too
I have a new idea super small needle and liquid metal stick it in the little access spot in the CPU and add some the RSX is super easy to delid but the cpu is something most People should not attempt
@@aceconsolerepairs I found my old PS3 in storage. Its the backwards compatible one with 4 USB ports in the front. I'm planning on opening it up, cleaning out the dust, DELIT both the chips and apply new thermal paste. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work. PS: if my PS3 fails with YLOD I'm sending it out to you :)
