PS4 Controller Wont Turn On In Safe Mode

Before you buy a new controller or console, watch this video.
Had an interesting thing happen this weekend. During an update to my PS4, I received error message su-30746-0 which seemingly bricked my PlayStation. With a few troubleshooting techniques, I was able to determine what the issue was.

Completely forgot bout USB in the back. Even though it was super dirty taking everything out and only using the back port. Control worked immediately but I would of never done that without your video thank you so much

This works in 2022, also a reason it may only work with some cords is the same reason some iPhone chargers don’t work unless they have a chip in the end that verify its a genuine product and ps doesn’t want a shitty cable plugged into it

I found a solution just go to Walmart and go to the playstation area and buy the 10 foot thick onn. Cable and it should work

I tried several different usb cables, and on a blog a guy said to change the hdmi port that was connected. I don't know what the relationship is, but it worked perfectly, my controller started working again in safe mode using the same cable that came with the console 8 years ago. I hope it helps

@@SageTheProfessor Yes, as I understand it, it said it was being recognized, but due to some corrupt data in the system, the video on the screen did not change, then when I changed the hdmi to another input on the tv, it sent the information to the screen that it recognized the dualshock 4

Thanks for this great video! Even with this info., I had such a hard time fixing this at first - only to find out I was using charging cables - right plug sizes, but the cables weren't able to handle data. I found an old Turtle Beach USB cable, and that worked perfectly.

Hey! Ive recently connected my PS4 controller to my pc. After done, i disconnected it. Now, it doesnt want to connect with my PS4. Ive already pressed "remove device" for the controller on my pc. Ive tried connecting my controller to my ps4 using a cable. My PS4 controller just blinks blue, and turn off. Even in safe mode. Ive tried many wires, but to no avail. Also, when I connect it to my PS4, it just turns orange for a bit, and then turn off. What can i do?

Sounds like you may have disassociated your PS4 controller when you plugged it into the PC. You will likely need to find a compatible USB cord to resync it to your PS4. You may want to consider purchasing an official cord or borrowing from a friend if you can. Best of luck!!

This worked perfectly for me, like you I tried everything and it didn't occur to me that it would be the cord itself causing all the issues, but after changing out the cord I was able to get to the safe mode menu screen

Haven't heard of the PS5 having this issue yet, but if you are unable to use your controller while in safe mode, I would recommend starting with the cords.

Sorry to hear that the cords you have around are not working. Do you have any friends or family with working systems? Could try to borrow one of their cords. If not, you may want to consider getting an official cord if you can't find one.

Am I the only one who still can’t get it to work even tho I did evelrything as instructed😥 is there anything else left to help or is it a hardware issue, it’s 2022 and I got my ps4 in 2016, it’s old so it might be time to upgrade but it seems to run swimmingly in all other areas other than in this instance.

Hey Joe, thanks for the feedback. Have you tried using the official cord or a new controller set? If you are getting the same prompts as the video, it's unlikely to be a HW issue other than finding the right cord. Have some additional troubleshooting steps you could try.
