I just picked up mine from my FFL yesterday. It's even more beautiful in person than photos or video could do it justice. Just an amazing beautiful little rifle (pistol). The brace is very rigid with almost no wobble or play in it and locks in place very nicely and the red wood furniture really pops. Palmetto State really nailed it with their GF3 AKs, especially their AK pistols. If you're looking for a Krink clone, you're not going to get closer than this anywhere near this price range without an SBR. It's definitely a new favorite in my collection!
@@VanTheGamer07 It depends on the FFL you get it from. Anywhere from $20-$50 depending. Look around and see what the lowest rate is in your area. It was a $20 transfer fee for me. The guy who did my transfer actually has a furniture store and does FFL transfers on the side.
Until they release their actual AK74su Krink Clone, which is the correct hinged dust cover and gas tube retainer and piston length. Which is probably delayed due to the coronavirus, but you can bet I already have cash stashed away for it. www.recoilweb.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/psa-krinkov-675x262.jpg
Really good review - thankyou. I'll be in the market for one of these just as soon as i bag myself a Kalashnikov komrad... Palmetto produce and distribute some fantastic yet financially reasonable products and i hope that we all support them for doing so by purchasing from them.
I love my ps90.. but it has more tooling Marks than any gun I've owned. I give much praise to lower end companies that pay attention to this. I believe psa will be a powerhouse soon! And their 2020 selection is mind blowing. I happily think psa is about f up the gun the market in a positive way! Ie gun models prices down. Mp5 clones, long stroke piston rifles, and glock style firearms prices should drop if they do their part on qc
Beautiful! I'm super interested in seeing you post a range video with this. As someone else mentioned, the brace seems flimsy. It's too bad they didn't design it with some sort of sling attachment point.
@@CheJoffre Darn... I'm loading one up right now. well the front has a sling loop on the front sight/gas block, so nothing new there. the rear of the pistol "rear trunnion has a 1913 pic rail already on it and you could mount the rear to that if you wanted to.
It's a year later and I still want this pistol just can't catch psa when they have them I don't have the money, it's all good I do have a wasr 1063 so 762 still on deck.
Looks pretty. I dig the Russian red wood. Im still a little leary about a American ak. Thinking about getting a Arsenal or the psa im kind of going back and forth on this.
Hey Gman! Yes it is a good thing to look at things objectively. I feel that they got the GF3 right. I only have 200 rounds through mine at this time with zero problems. I am an admitted Arsenal ak owner and I do love what they bring to the table. I have noticed that they are getting harder to find as of late, but the PSA line seems to be pretty easy to find. In the end it's obviously up to you. The best way to choose that I see is to wright down the features that you want in your AK and write a list of pros and cons for both the PSA and the Arsenal. That way you have a better idea of what you really want to buy. Thanks for the comment Gman!
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy right on my brother, you just got a new subscriber for what its worth. Yea i dont consider myself a novice when it comes to the AK. I also have an Arsenal Sam7 sf, a few molot vepr's in different calibers, a mac 90, and a few Zastavas. I like the pros and cons you mentioned. The cons are basically three things. 1. What is the quallity of that pretty Russian red wood. 2. Am i going to start having screws and things backing out and breaking. 3. You mentioned that the folding stock was rubber ? Whats up with that. Doesn't rubber eventually crack and break. Let me throw in a number four. 4. It isnt tried and true. It is brand new so that kind of speaks for itself and only time will tell. Carry on my friend.
Sounds like you have a pretty good collection already! The wood is not for hard use. I installed Bakelite on mine already. I know of a few rail-top cover screws getting loose. Mine are still tight and have lok-tite from PSA on it. Yes the shooting brace is rubber. I had no issues shooting it. The only pistol brace I know of that’s not rubber is the tail hook, so if you wanted to change it out you could or just pay for a SBR tax stamp, get it engraved and put whatever stock you want on it. Yes only time will tell. Having said that I like mine so far.
Hey my brother, love the gun just bought it however mine has the SBA3 brace instead of the stock you have. I want to get a folding adapter for the brace but I like the skeleton stock too. But my question is, is adding ur stock make it a SBR then ? Or does the stock make it legal a little confused.
Hey Tony, The “triangle folding stock” on mine is a brace keeping it a pistol. PSA has that brace from time to time. Remember that you may have to change the rear trunnion depending on the one that is currently on yours. If I had the SBA3 I would likely just keep it that way. I like where the QD mount is placed on the SBA3! Thank you for the comment and if you have another question let me know!
Not a problem Brother! Here is the part, it’s in stock and costs $199.99 palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ak-triangle-side-folding-brace-and-picatinny-stock-adapter-assembly.html
Switchpod thanks for that info man, I love the folding mechanism. So I looked and the one I got coming is the one with the SBA brace. There are adapters that I can buy that will allow me to fold the SBA right ? I seen a few it’s a little piece but it’s like $110 haha
I'm very curious to how strong that hinge mechanism is because it seems to be all plastic, which kind of worries me. I wonder if it'll break if you give it a good whack on the edge of a table. 🤔
Hey Blake, The folding brace hinge is mild steel, the brace is a polymer and rubber construction. Personally I'm not worried about breakage with this system. Thanks for the comment.
Great unboxing, brother. 👍🏼 I’ve been intrigued by this pistol for quite some time, and I believe you’ve nudged me towards this version. Hoping to pick one up as soon as PSA notifies me that they’re available again. Thanks!
Quick question: In lieu of the obvious & numerous QD sling options with PSA’s Magpul furniture version, do you have any personal recommendations for slinging this Red Wood AK-P model? Or are there any existing sling-points?
Switchpod - Awesome, thanks! I also found this single-point sling attachment option, as well: www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/slings-sling-swivels/tactical-sling-mounts/ak-47-74-sling-attachements-prod45023.aspx
Hey dandude2010, now you just brought up a very valid point. Does the folding triangle brace look cooler? Heck yeah it does!, but does the sda3/sda4. Offer more rigidity? Yeah it does in My opinion. These are all good things to take into account when making a purchase like this. Thank you for the comment!
Hello drcutler, I still like it, I have only been able to shoot it a few times, maybe 200 rounds at this time. It keeps getting forgotten when I go to the range unfortunately. Yes I did use loc-tite on the triangular folding brace. The brace I have isn’t the most durable compared to the M4 style braces. The loc-tite I used is blue.
Not unless you want to install (press on) a new rear sight block then you could, but if you just want to remove the railed cover and install a traditional one there is no cut in the rear sight block that this one comes with to support the front area of the dust cover. Good question Grand Theft Avocado!
Nothing more than a mistake on my part. ak-p7-4, ak-p7-5 are flashlights. saying ak-p I naturally added 7 by mistake through conditioning. Good catch and my bad.
SEXY looking AK!! Can't decide if I want wood or the Magpul furniture. I heard others that the same furniture you have can be a bit slippery? And does wood do better with heat compared to polymer? This will be my first AK. Hope to hear your inputs.
Hello Shane, Nope, the "tail" is just to reset the hammer. As the carrier travels rearward the "tail" makes contact with the hammer to reset it. both the semi-auto and full auto designs will have the same tail. Thank you for the question.
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy no I know what you are talking about and I was talking about something different. On the right side of the carrier for full auto it would have a little bit that sticks down to trip the auto sear... The ones that are milled straight with the rail make it semi auto only.
Mine still is, but that’s only because I have not run it yet. That is the one down side to that design. Loctite is going to be a friend on this one if I where to speculate.
@@CheJoffre You are absolutely correct. no one wants to worry about the firearm coming loose, but most firearms have screws in, or on them. stock AK-47/74 rifles have a grip screw, most have one screw or more for the rear stock and rear sling mounting hardware on solid stocks. not to forget the front sight elevation adjustment is also a screw it self. Loctite is a good product that can help situations like this one. Should have PSA installed loctite on them before selling them? Yes, but they also try to keep the prices down too.
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy Absolutely, even if the screw did come completely loose, the topcover wouldn't fall off in the case of the AK-P. At least not until field stripping it. I have a red-dot on mine though and wish PSA had designed it to hinge on a fixed point like an AKS-74U or M92 for example. That being said, PSA was very good with honoring their warranty. I'm a happy customer, but will wait till they fix this issue before I buy another AK-P from them.
Define “standard AK 47 Magazine” please. PSA AK 47 Magazines that fit and Magazines that don't fit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_AtguvykQQo.html
Che, Capo actually its pretty solid. I just got done shooting it today. The bottom does bend just a little but the top part of the brace is very solid. Doesn’t move at all.
Absolutely, but here is a fast run down, I plan on shooting it sometime in the future. Loctite the screws at the rear trunnion to pic adaptor, the mounting screw at the rear folding stock, the grip screw, and the dust cover to hinge screw. That should cover all the places loctite should be used on this model. Really good question @imlikeHIGHHH!
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy Blue Loctite didn't hold the topcover for me. Will have to use something stronger for it to keep. PSA sent mine back with some sort of greyish thread locker. Not sure what it is because they didn't include a note of what they had done. If you look at Brass Kicker's videos about the issue, some people commented that they've used star washers on theirs.
it comes apart the same way most of the AK 47 rifles come apart. There is many videos that show this process, I have even noted in your liked videos there are two that show the process that you have given a thumbs up to. I honestly didn't think to show it due to the overwhelming number of videos on the subject. Thank you for your support and I will take your suggestion into account.
