Your a lucky fella finding such a original vehicle, l learned to drive in my late father’s 1937 right hand drive Ford V8 sedan many many years ago. Congratulations from Aotearoa (New Zealand)
I just love the turquoise colour in the interior, what a gorgeous car this will be when you are done with it. I always learn so much watching your adventures. They made cars to last back in the day and definitely safer for impact being made with sturdy bodies. What colour will you end up painting the exterior in the end it will be sharp I am sure. Thanks for another great adventure, can’t wait to see the finished product. Blessings to you always Ryan.
Actually, back then, cars weren't safer. Virtually no safety equipment like we have today. I love these old cars from my childhood, but, I will take today's safety features, anytime. Watch this starting at 1:20. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TikJC0x65X0.html
Thank you, it's a great car and gets a lot of attention. If I repaint it, I will go with the original white/green. Not a fan of green, but on this car I think it looks great.
Remarkable condition and you are lucky to find one that good. My Merc was far more rusty. You might find more rust under the drivers floor mat. Those door catches are problematic on those. Had to do major work on the right rear door of mine to get it to open and close. Drivers glass and vent windows are frequently cracked or broken on most I've seen. Looking forward to see more.
It's 4:35am and I just flew back from a week in Vegas but just had to take a few minutes to watch this episode. Yes I got into trouble and no I didn't win but boy did we have fun.😎
A lot of the Flathead Ford 8's were repurposed as power plants for irrigation sprinklers by enterprising Farmers . They were bulletproof and lasted forever
I used to have a one owner 50 Meteor I bought from my neighbor it was basically a 50 Ford with a 50 Mercury grill on it It had the flathead V8 with 3 on the tree, I drove it all over Alberta with very little problems.
Cool story! When I was a kid I grew up on a farm in northern Alberta. There was an old early 50's meteor there with a number of other abandoned cars. Played in that car for years, used to wind up the manual clock and it would work for days!
@@ParklandFilms I remember mine had an electric clock in it and you could hear it click when the points contacted and wound it up every few minutes. I got a replacement engine from Universal Mercury and installed it as the original was worn out.
Great find. That's going to be a lot of fun, unlike the Cadillac Alexander had to restore, eaten by God knows what:) Can't wit to see you cross Canada in that baby:) Cheers, Rik
Greetings from Clay County, Missouri ! First year for the Meteor Rideau; LAST year for the flat-head V-8 . Last year for the flat-head in the US was 1953. I guess you (Canada ) got the left-overs ? And those heater controls .............. I guess we know why nobody copied THAT design. :| The Rideau WAS the top model; until 1956 ................ when it became the LOWEST Good luck finding the parts for that . NOT sarcasm Sending genuine BEST of Luck Thanks again ! All the Best !! & Happy Hunting !!! 15 thumbs UP ! Gute Fahrt & PEACE
Thanks Brian!!! Yes, Canada got the Flathead for one more year. Good to know about the Rideau model, I haven't looked any of those details up yet. I love those heater controls!! Surprisingly, I found a great resource for parts, coming up in a future episode!!
Love old cars, they have style. Giving my age away when I say the last time it was licenced was the year I was born. My dream car would be a 1967 Chevrolet Impala (●'◡'●).
