I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video from.Northwest Florida where it was 1989 the last time it snowed. I did grow up with snowy winters. Snow plows made life possible for us in the winters.

Thank you! Wish I was in Florida right now, not only for warmer weather but you don't have the restrictions we have still. Getting pretty tired of that. Thanks for commenting!

True!! We are living free down here. We will be building a new house this year as our home was severely damaged by Hurricane Michael. It will be bigger to accommodate guests! You have an open invitation. We are 20 minutes from the World's Most Beautiful Beaches!!!

You sure got a lot of snow. We had a green Christmas here in Ontario and only a skiff of snow today.

The snow is good, but the crazy cold we have had for the last week is brutal.

I agree with the comment about people not being prepared for “Country” life. I grew up on a farm but moved to the “City” for work many years ago. Back then, acreages had about a 3 year turnaround. Water was the big deal then. Now, most areas outside Saskatoon have access to city water. Snow and lack of the ability to do repairs are very true obstacles for a lot of people.

Yes, it's surprising how many people would rather have to haul city water, than have a well. Our well gives us unlimited water, and it is good water too.

good advise. you also need to know how to fix things even in a plain old house with only a half acre

You are a good storyteller ..I really like the one about the "rich" neighbor, so if you have snowplow stories feel free, I'd love to hear them & any others. Thank you & Happy New year! 😁🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦

Thank you! Maybe the next time I plow snow I'll roll the camera and tell stories lol.

Next time you're in the city just drop in and have this discussion with Alex, he is going to need this insight for their new place (I recon you two wouldn't stop if you got started talking about old cars and car quirks 👍🏻)

Lol, ya I might stop by the store in the next couple of weeks and see him. We have talked cars a few times.

I lived on my own land most of my life and totally agree: grass& snow is a lot of work. Also: you learn to quickly not to be afraid of power tools 😁. And yes, I've seen many city slickers reconsider after a couple of years. To be honest: I hit a fence post or two. Four. And a gate.Thanks for your lovely snowy adventure! 😁🇳🇱

Good for you Ellie, it takes a certain breed to live acreage life for sure. My wife was scared to death of the impact drill until she used it a couple times lol. About hitting stuff, I just remembered the time I drove the bug over the retaining wall lol that was scary haha!

What a thoughtful video! Thank you for putting this out there! I hope this video reaches people that could use this knowledge! I second the plow truck vs snowblower/quad/tractor/non cab vehicle. The air can be dead still and when I get the snowblower out to clean up, the wind comes out of nowhere and blows snow all in my face and down my jacket. I now wear my snowmobile goggles and on cold days, I wear a scarf, but I haven't figured out a trick for warm days preventing snow going down my jacket.

I know what you mean. It was my Dad that used a snowblower for many years and he got tired of freezing for hours out there. Now he is finished plowing in less than 20 minutes. A word of caution about the scarf, a neckwarmer will not get wrapped around the auger like a scarf would.
@tashav4686
@tashav4686 2 года назад
@@ParklandFilms Oh! Neck warmer! I'll have to try that on the next warm day! Wearing it, I mean, I do not need help breaking things, I do a fantastic job of that on my own :) my neighborhood fights for the parts store stock of shear pins in the winter.

I bet that neighbor is Josh. Windrows probably come from cutting hay. Who doesn't like riding in the snow plow?? I did the pro/con plowing my own and decided purchase price, maintenance, etc. wasn't worth it to ME when I had a person who would plow it for me before I went to work at 6AM after doing my chores. Back then I was paying about $300 a season.
@ParklandFilms
@ParklandFilms 2 года назад
It's not Josh, he lives across the highway from me so I don't make it a habit of driving the plow too far from my place. Good deal on getting your snow plowed, 300 bucks isn't too bad. Truth be told, once the plow was built I only put one tank of gas in it per season. Haven't had to do any repairs for a few years, knock on wood lol.

Another good video. Snow, the reason I don’t live in Alaska anymore. No snow in Phoenix Arizona, so don’t need to plow snow LOL. Great idea using the Bug. Would love to hear some of your other stories!!

Why are you not best friends with Alex @curiosityinc !!!!!!!!!!! I just moved to the country, north of Peterborough, ON. It’s under one acre so we bought a used snow blower (john deere) and it’s solid and seems to do a good job! I’m really glad we didn’t shell out $1500 on a new/plastic model!

Alex and I live a fair distance apart, I should really pop into the store one of these days, I haven't seen him since the Potters house reno! Good job on the snowblower, the old ones are definitely better than the new ones.
