It got down to 20 degrees last night, but the 3 inches of snow melted the day after it fell. Definitely not a white Christmas in this part of Michigan. Congratulations on the wedding!

Such a coincidence! We were next door to you on Dec 2 - and then left for Zipolite and Huatulco (we recognized your voice but decided not to disturb you). We are back for the holidays in the same suite you featured! One clarification - Villa Mexicana also offers access to Playa Coral (with no food or drink) for 50 pesos. If you want to see more of the Oaxaca coast - I have been making and posting reels set to music I hear on the streets on my IG. Good luck with your wedding planning - you picked an incredible location!

@@alex-wittman This was our second visit to Zipolite. As you probably know, it is a nude beach and attracts diverse and interesting visitors. There is a spectacular swimming bay - Playa del Amor. The sunsets are beautiful and there are excellent restaurants (Bacco - best meal on the coast). Huatulco is much drier than PE (at this time of year). The bays are gorgeous for swimming and snorkeling (calm with vivid blue water). It is spread out - it was good to have a vehicle - we visited 6 beaches and 2 miradors. There are resorts on many of the bays. I did not like the cruise ship area, Santa Cruz (no ships there but very touristy with people trying to drag us into beach bars or sell us boat rides). We stayed in La Crucecita - the town a bit inland. We loved it - a very nice walkable town with a vibrant plaza after dark. We visited three outstanding restaurants in Crucecita on three nights. Perhaps because Huatulco appeals to older snow birds - the restaurant scene is unbelievably good. I love the Oaxaca coast because it reminds me of the British Columbia and Oregon coasts - only a heck of a lot warmer!

Water cold ? We are used to the Gulf of Mexico

I'm used to swimming in Lake Michigan so not cold to me! Playa Carrizalillo is really shallow to start so the water gets pretty warm 🤓

I have been told that the water in PE is 30 degrees year round. We are a fair bit south of the G of M - and facing south (the coast runs west to east). It is the same ocean we live on in British Columbia - but not the same temp!
