1 Green Pepper
2. Mofongo
*2 Plantains
*First step:
2 Tbsp Oil
2 Tbsp Sofrito
1/2 Onion
1/2 Red Pepper
1/2 Yellow Pepper
1/2 Orange Pepper
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Black Pepper
*Second Step:
1 Tbsp Oil
Shrimps
1/2 Tsp Cazon Seasoning
1/4 Tsp Salt

Cooked Seasoning (First Step)
1 Cup - Tomato Sauce
3. Arroz Con Gandules

Puerto Rico !!!! Yes!!!!! When smashing the the fried plantains you MUST add garlic and melted butter or olive oil. It makes it softer and tastier. Some people add chicharrón to it for crunchiness. Dude thank you for making PR tradition in your content!!! You have to include deserts!!! Flan, arroz con dulce!

A Puerto Rican Navy wife many years ago taught me how to make mofongo, and garlic, salt, olive oil goes in first is a must then top with the plantain. I do miss those Navy wives get together to exchange recipes! This brought back memories!

You're a puerto rican yes. But you aren't a Taino. The Tainos have been classified as extinct since the early 1800s.

When you cook the rice con guandules make sure when you add the rice put the heat on low and let the water you added dry up. Then you cover it so it won’t be wet rice.

The mofongo needs olive oil also. Otherwise it wouldn’t be dry. Less broth to the rice. The rice have to end a little dry. Not that wet. Don’t worry about the skin. I like it like that also. All depends who is going to eat it. Anyway I give you an A.

Add butter and garlic when you mash the plantains..... Don't slice the skin off the pork like that, that's why it dried out. instead, stab it alllll over and let the marinade seep in that way.. 350° is the best temp and when you remove the foil- raise the heat and squeeze lime juice. You'll have a perfectly crusted skin and trust this 🇵🇷 the skin is like the best part lol. You did an awesome job with it all, looks delicious!!

We gotchu Quick time! Don’t use so much olive oil on the pernil, use only 2 Tblspns just enough to make that nice paste. Also, you can throw a lil bit of adobo on the skin so it draws out the moisture better, and adds flavor to the skin. I use a turkey bag or aluminum foil to cover for 3/4 of the time it’s suppose to be in, and then turn up the heat uncovered for the remainder of the time. That way the skin, gets nice and crunchy. Tip: If you score the skin in squares it cooks more evenly, and easier to divide amongst ppl. Love everything you do brother! Keep it up! 🇵🇷

You know if you go all the way to the bottom of the comment section on one of Quang's videos, they are loaded with salty comments by ppl. 🤣 it's hilarious because they get so upset at whatever he does. One person said they were disappointed that Birra Birra tacos had become popular. What? 🤣

I mean do you make nasty looking foods? I can be full as heck but as soon as your video comes on I am STARVING!!🤦🏽‍♂️LOL. Quang I LOOOOVE your channel and have been dying for you to make Spanish food because I’m Dominican and half my family is Puerto Rican. For your first try I think you did really well for your take . For more authentic PR/DR food I have a few tips : 1) Sofrito : the main ingredient that makes sofrito SOFRITO, is the aji gustoso or sweet peppers. They’re tiny and can be green or multicolored . To make a batch of sofrito you use a pack of the little sweet peppers cleaned of all stem and seeds. Your green bell peppers. Garlic cloves . Cilantro and/or culantro. Oregano. 2) moro or Spanish one pot rice and beans . You want to do some oil in the pot then the same stuff you put it . Sofrito tomato paste and ham all sautéed together , then the beans . You also should do a tablespoon of chicken bouillon powder or one large cube instead . For the water / rice it’s always 2:1 ratio. For every 1 cup of rice you add 2c water plus a tiny bit more . Let it all come to a boil first then taste for seasoning. Then you add the rice and with the top of on medium high let the liquid dry up. Once that happens, gather the rice in a mound beat as you can , too it . Medium low for 20min. Then turn the rice from bottom to top . Then another 5min 3) Pernil . You wanna wash it well with water and vinegar . To season you use the sofrito , salt and pepper, chopped garlic , agrio de naranja which is the juice from what’s called a bitter Orange , olive oil , a little low sodium soy sauce or Worcestershire. And some lime juice of course. Let sit overnight . Then you cook covered in the oven at 400 for the first 35min and then knock it down to 350 for the remaining time of the 5hts but it is CRUCIAL to baste the pernil in its juices every 25-30min . To get a crispy skin . At the end take a little salted water or like and add all over the skin and broil for just 2-3 min until skin is crispy 4) For the mofongo you only want to mash until it’s rough but you’re also supposed to season the mixture with infused olive oil . You infuse the oil with the garlic and use that plus the chopped up skin from the pork and some of the drippings all mashed together . But if you’re doing shrimp mofongo then mash up with the juice from the shrimp. The base to pretty much every Spanish dish is sofrito . I would love to see you make Dominican food next and if you have any questions I’d love to help !
