He's said PLENTY of things great. What are you talking about? If Joe Buck were to go on a rant for a huge homerun, he'd get criticized for being too dramatic. If he says a simple sentence he gets blamed for being too vanilla and mellow. Oh but let Vin Scully say something simple for what was a huge moment and people praise him for keeping it short and sweet? I don't love Joe but he's a decent announcer.

Yes, "The Machine" was the perfect nickname. I saw him play many times and he hit the ball hard more than any player I've ever seen. I remember when they showed the "heat chart" (his batting average in the various parts of the strike zone) on him on a televised game. He was hitting .600 on balls thrown down the middle!
@CROOKCOUNTY18
@CROOKCOUNTY18 Год назад
@@saverioman Barry Bonds?
@saverioman
@saverioman Год назад
@@CROOKCOUNTY18 Bonds was certainly greater, but with a qualifier. I saw him play many times (I went to Cardinals games and Pittsburgh was in our division). In Pittsburgh and his first few years in San Francisco Bonds was slender and fast, around 175, 180 pounds. He was great, but nobody would rank him as highly as Pujols during this 10 year period. Only when he blew up with 50 pounds of PED-aided muscle did he turn into Superman (he got so much bigger it was laughable). If we ignore his obvious use of PED's, then I agree that Bonds was better. That said, Albert's body never changed during his first 10-12 years and he was never accused of PED use, so I'd give him the edge. He would definitely have benefitted from PEDs...his body began to fail around his 14th year. With a little miracle medicine he could have reached 800 HRs.

+Samuel Sanchez The cardinals also dont spend BIG contracts to get players. Their farm system is one of the best, they could not come close to LA's contract, and a great way to show RESPECT to the player is to pay him the most. His career speaks for itself. Ofcourse it would be a story book dream for him to stay in STL, but its obvious why it didnt work out. LA is a great team i want to see them win a world series soon with this stacked lineup

such a class player. No showboating no nothing, just runs the bases and goes to the dugout.

Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, and Albert Pujols are the best hitters of this age. We'll never see players like them again.

Such a legend. I appreciated, for the sport, how well this guy represented baseball in the Mid-West/Central. Not every great should be a Yankee or Sox.

I still get chills watching this and any video of his amazing talent. Besides leaving St Louis for $ he is the perfect role model for kids. Pujols Foundation, positive family man, great teammate and never in paper for drugs, punching a coach, hookers or guns. The steroid talk is unfounded and he still 30/100 after many injuries. This man will end up top 5 of all time. Right now he may be top 10 all time. Total package and a humble guy.

He only had one other hit in the World Series after that game, but it was a key hit in the 9th inning of game 6. That hit helped them win.

Now had Pujols also hit a grand slam in that same game, he would have "hit for the home run cycle".
