I really enjoyed the vintage educational film video. I had to laugh when that parody came in. They got the voice right though.😅

Too funny, the lab tech with the white coat cracked me up with that high tech language put me into a tail spin, luck ale I was able to pull up and dry my eyes thanks for 73DiamondReo, I will save this video and add to my play list, good job.

What makes it funnier is that it's a 250/350/400 TH transmission outline (with added bits on the front bottom). As someone who used to build racing engines and transmissions, i found it hilarious.

Just got my pump back a week or so ago and was excited about putting it on. Got it installed and then before I could even get it turned over a couple times, the starter died. Mine was a Stanadyne DBG pump for a 1968 Case 580CK 188D.

Amazing how complicated this pump is and how many separate pieces are in it considering the overall size of it. It is extremely enjoyable to watch the process and learn about it. The technician does an outstanding job of explaining everything. This is a great RU-vid channel!

Not a bad price really. Rotary pumps are generally not too bad to repair unless the head needs replaced. Then it can get expensive. The Turbo Encabulator bit is somehow perfect for this pump. 👍 Cheers

Please frame that VA poster! This is kinda special as it´s the English version and many of these went to the bin decades ago, even in Germany. Kind Regards from Bosch Country.

Possibly one of the mounting bolts can be replaced with a different bolt… external torx, hexhead Allen bolt. Might slow a pump thief, or maybe they just move on. You get the idea.

Great video. I wonder how long it took the speaker in the 'Vintage Parody' to be able to spout all the BS coherently without stuttering. An amazing conglomeration of non-sensical terms having no meaning, but sounding technical and intelligent. Thanks for sharing.

$800 was a really fair price for Frank. Now as long as Matt keeps running dirty or antique fuel, at least he can pay their [power bill as far as lighting goes. And 10/4 on the Turbo Encabulator. The IRS will send out rebuild kits with tax forms this year.

that pricing caught me off guard! i just got a quote for a rebuild of this exact pump on a backhoe like this and they said starting at $2,000 and that didnt include half the stuff yall did to it!, almost makes it worth the 12 hr drive for me. ive honestly contemplated scrapping the backhoe based off my quote but i may just do more price shopping.

You mention that the @19:15 time frame that the machine supplies a specified pressure TO THE PUMP, aren't a majority, if not all just gravity fed?, from a tank maybe a foot above the pump? I find all this very interesting and would like to understand that a little better. Thanks.

It seems to me that those rotary style pumps were made almost exclusively for the american market.. I've never seen any of those in Europe, its all Bosch row type pumps. I wonder how that came to be, especially since those rotary pumps seem less durable and more finneky on the insides.

In Germany there are lots of them. VW (and all its brands) used them in Millions of cars , beginning with the Golf MK1 diesel, to the VP44 in many different TDI Motors. My Ford Transit MK2 from 1983 also has one. Whats really rare is the type of governor, as i have only seen mechanical governors , or electronics. They are also pretty reliable. Sometimes they tend to leak , and get destroyed by trying to fix that (like in the video, and i also did it myself one time...)

Rotary pumps cost less to build. That is why you tend to find them on VW engines. Mercedes usually has an inline pump. This may have been especially important when building equipment that was never meant to be rebuilt.
@caerusdharken57

@@derbruzzler7574 I checked back on some stock photos, you're actually right, for some reason I always remembered the 1.6 Diesel to have an inline pump. I don't know about any later engines, never had a TDI so no memories there.
