Great video. Always enjoy watching what you're putting out. You're very thorough and all of your video production is of great quality and concisely orchestrated manner. I have a question for you. On a VW 09M valvebody, the harness to the solenoids got some broken plastic tab and to this point, I've accidentally reversed the plug orientation. After further investigation, I realized that some valves are normally open, some normally closed, some use PWM signals, and overall, I realized by plugging it in the wrong orientation unknowingly, upon starting up the car, the car goes through a few "thump", "boom", and after that, it's stick in park no matter what the shift lever does. Engine cranks fine, but transmission doesn't seem to respond at all. I've bene at this for months now, and it wasn't until I finally addressed the harness plug that I found that I've plugged it wrong this whole time. Anyway, my question is, what sort of damage could each of the solenoids be subjected under if this is the case. All I can imagine is that the solenoids would operate under wrong shifting points/sequences, but I later did check the resistance to each solenoid, and they all pass with readings within 0.5mOhm of each other. The only foggy area I'm not so sure about are two things: 1) Can any of the solenoids be toasted under such mix up with the signal inputs? And if so, how come the resistance check reveal passing with flying colors, all are under specified ohm range? 2) Having the harness plugged wrong, I can imagine the TCM giving it firing signals to the wrong solenoids, will this doing affect the transmission's mechanical state itself? Ever since this issue, I've never been able to get the car to engage in any gear at all. It's as if the valvebody and torque converter don't even respond. In this valve body, the torque converter solenoid is the N91 SV-4, and it's PWM driven and its correct pin-out is #11 and #12 on the harness. But since the orientation is wrong, #3 and #4 are the pins plugged into it. #3 and #4 are On/Off solenoids (N92 SV-5, normally applied), By the way, N91 operating range is .2amp to 1amp, and N92 operating range is .1A to 1amp. Just by looking at the torque converter solenoid, without looking into others, I'm trying to determine if the torque converter solenoid could be faulty to cause a no-movement on the torque converter itself. It's what I'm most baffled about right now. By the way, I use VCDS scan tool (VAG-COM) and got no codes on the TCM. Sorry for the long email, but I dearly hope you can help. Thanks.

4l60e was working great one day and the very next started slipping into 3rd and won’t go into 4th. Any ideas? I don’t think it’s related but just for reference I did just finish replacing the fuel pump on the truck which included dropping the fuel tank a few days before this happened

Amazing video brother❤❤❤ From my side request is can you make assembling and dismantling videos of transmission by explaing each and every part function and also what if any part fails to work normally what problem does it cause in a transmission.

Here is a question, feel no obligation to answer, does the transmission controller "learn" from driving, or are the parameters set from the factory? Thanks again for the high quality and clarity of your videos.

Thanks for all your valuable information about the 4l60e, what would cause a 3-2 downshift to be harsh and too quick making it feel like it binds for a split second at higher rpm downshifts?

Here is a question, don't know how it happened. I have a 2004 chevy silverado 4l60e, it had a hard shift from 2-1 about 3 to 4 times not consistently. Then came home for about 10ish minutes. Jumped into the truck about 1 mile down the road I hear a load bang lost 1 and I think 3 pulled over I still have 2 and reverse. No shuttering while I was in 2. Background on the 4l60e I had it built by a known shop. upgrade Planetary Gears, 13 vain pump, wiring harness, cluches. If you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

Slipping out of 4th going from 1700 rpm’s at 65 to 2200 rpm’s back and forth several times in a 15 mile trip. Any suggestions ?

I have completely lost 2 and 4. No grinding or rattling noises. Just won’t shift into either of those gears. I know the 2/4 band can break but I would expect to hear noises. What steps could I take to verify the electrical is calling for the gears? Is it possible the 2/4 pistons on the side which tighten the band have completely failed? Other ideas?

I just had the 200 4R rebuilt in my 87 Buick Electra Estate wagon, RWD of course. It was done on a budget by a friend in South Carolina, who runs a large busy trans shop. I'm home, 1000 miles away now, and the only problem I have is it shifts really early 1 2, under 10mph, but firm, and there's no going back, because he's way too busy, and he just accommodated me as a favor. And why would I have a 2 3 flare? It flares in D or manual shift, very brief, but def a flare

I've been inside one (1) 200-4R, years ago... I'm not the best person to ask, as I can only provide general info (TV cable adjustment, etc) on that particular trans.

I recently rebuilt a Turbo 400 using your video’s. Everything works perfect. Now I have a 4L60E in a 95 K1500 truck. All of a sudden it won’t shift into 2nd gear unless I let off of the gas. If I shift it manually, it won’t shift at all. Any thoughts on where to start? Thanks for all of your help.

Hello, great information that you give in your videos, I have a question to ask about a 4l60e transmission, the transmission in question was rebuilt with all its new kit, corvette servo and sonax accumulators without pin, the problem is that it kicks when shifting 1-2 the rest of the transmission works perfectly, do you have any suggestions about the problem, what could be causing it? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2012 Yukon. When I first start it up I get forward and reverse, let it idle for 5-8 minutes and I get neither forward or reverse. First time it happened I was driving and it started to seem like someone shifted into neutral but came back. No engine light on the dash. Next day my friend checked it with his analyzer and a P0705 code came up. He reset it now I can’t drive it….( my friend is a diesel mechanic) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am having an issue with the TCC, I think. I just rebuilt my transmission and the vehicle dies when I put in in gear. i pulled the harness out and checked resistance 23.8 ohms. there is no visible damage to the harness. I pulled the pins from the harness and jumped them with a 9v battery. if the solenoid is oriented tube up it will click. if I orient the solenoid any other direction it will not. What else could cause the torque converter to lock up, or cause this symptom? Servo/Band engagement? Bad converter? im trying to eliminate symptoms to find the fix. but Im running out of ideas, I d rather not pull the trans again unless I have too. It will drive and shift through all the gears but I have to be on the throttle as soon as I put it in gear to keep it running. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible it's just a solenoid or could be worse I'm trying not to drop the seeing I was a ASE tech but never caught on to transmission kinda my axcelis heal any help would be appreciated thanks again keep up the good work buddy

Love you're content! I am subscribed! My question is I have a 2005 4L65e transmission out of a 2005 Cadillac Escalade. Rebuilt it after watching your videos. Very informative! It doesn't have 1st or 4th. New A&B solenoids ( twice). All of the others are new as well. It does have a new aftermarket internal wiring harness. I have a Holley Terminator X Max controlling the system. Did a data log on it and the Terminator is commanding all the shift parameters. Could the internal wiring harness not be the correct one? It fit ok.How could I tell? It frustrating. Thanks in advance!

WARNING: Do what I do at your own risk. There are a number of different wiring harnesses. Easiest way is gonna be comparing the new one against the old one. Number of pigtails/connectors. Both shift solenoids need oil pressure supplied to them in order to function properly (it's called signal oil pressure). If there's a blockage in the valve-body, or separator plate, it can cut off the oil supply to the 1-2 shift solenoid...resulting in no 1st gear & no 4th gear. I'd also be looking at the separator plate and the associated gaskets. Perhaps a feed hole, in the plate, is getting cover by gasket (wrong gasket). Here's the location of the separator plate to look at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4qXqzWFKPI0.html To learn more about how the shift solenoid works, check out these videos: 4L60E Shift Solenoid - How it Works (60-Sec Preview) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JXFjMlsqirs.html 4L60E Shift Valve Shift - How it Works (60-Sec Preview) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fWPSaLeaOXI.html Hope this helps.

I had to replace my shifter solenoid and the first one that I took out after pulling the clip off, it just stayed, however the 2nd solenoid I removed actually shot out from being under tension load. When I installed the new solenoid, one was easy to install and another gave me a sweat! Is this normal? should both be under tension?

Per the video, one shift solenoid is under spring tension, and the other is not.

hello, my 4i60e was shifting hard from 2 to 3. I replaced both shift soleoids A and B. now it doesn't move forward or backward. you can see on the column shifter that it is moving through all the gears. you can hear it as well but it does not jump or move when you put it in gear. I put new fluid in and it smells burnt. Help please !
@SouthpawAutoworks
@SouthpawAutoworks 2 месяца назад
This has me thinking fluid level... Did you replace anything else (or do anything else) while the pan was off? After working on it, and getting everything out back together, did the vehicle operate normally for a road test? ...and then it lost all gears after that?
@micahparris5107
@micahparris5107 2 месяца назад
@@SouthpawAutoworks that is all that I replaced. I couldn't test drive the truck because it would not move. I could get it to move back a few inches after the truck warmed up. Then I could smell burnt fluid .
