Many people suffer from various back related issues. This can include:
low back, sacrum pain
hip pain
mid back tightness
upper back tension and pain
chronically tight back muscles
sciatica (true or false), pain going down the leg
general back weakness
In fact back related problems are one of the most common reasons for doctor visits.
As with any health issue, it is important to consult with your doctor and/or primary health care provider so you can help yourself using as many tools as possible, and find what works for you.
This simple Qigong exercise and routine can be very helpful for your back and with overall health.

Spinal Twisting is one of those Qigong movements that looks so simple, that it’s hard to believe that it would actually be helpful!
But, the gentle turning is very good for increasing blood and qi (or chi) circulation through the spine, the back muscles, and all the soft tissue and fascia throughout the back.
From a Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, this exercise helps to stimulate the:
Du meridian
Ren meridian
the Urinary bladder meridian
the spinal cord and the nerves that radiate from it
and ‘extra acupuncture points’ located around the spine
Give this routine a try and see how you feel!
The nice thing about this practice is that it is easy to fit into a busy day. You can practice this if you have been sitting for a long period, if you feel tight, or you just need to refresh your qi!
I'm Jeffrey Chand, an acupuncturist, practitioner of Traditional Chinese medicine, and Qigong instructor.
I am incredibly passionate about sharing simple Qigong practices because I have directly witnessed how helpful it can be for a variety of health issues, prevention, emotional/mental health, and even spiritual health.
The style that I try to present is simple but effective, because it is based on several Qigong traditions, clinical experience, physical therapy, traditional and modern medicine, and from working with many people from a variety of backgrounds.
This style can be practiced if you are an absolute beginner and if you already have experience in Qigong or Tai Chi.

I discovered you on You Tube, and have found a knew lease of life. I am an 80 year old widow. I have always been fit and athletic, I now have Arthritis which prevents me from doing so much. I have been following all your series and now feel so alive and energetic. The breathing exercise is fantastic my bones and muscles have woken up. I am managing a 3 mile walk a day. Thank you so much for introducing me to Qigong.

I love this as a midday break! I do yoga every morning and this is a great addition...and so easy to do because you don''t need a mat and can do it right at your workspace!

I just want to say this: I play guitar for a living and (as with most serious guitarists) my many hours of practise etc has left me with lower back pain. I have tried everything but your exercises are beginning to help me. I have practised yoga so I have developed my own routine (based on yours with added exercises). I can now bend over to do work on my house without as much pain and for a longer period of time. I just wanted to thank you.

This was really nice! My PT encouraged me to try, to get a gentle way to move my body with fibromyalgia. As a total beginner I felt it was easy to follow. My muscles got warm and my joints feel more loosened, without feeling unstable 😊 I will definitely try more of your videos and use it regularly. My back and hips feel more relaxed after😊🥳🙏

@Helena Te I just happened to come across your comment. I have been doing T'ai Chi and QiGong for the last 40 years. I hope you are still doing QiGong. If you practice daily, and meditate energy radiating from the heavens through your fingers all through your body. Over time you should start experiencing more and more energy.

I cannot express how grateful I am! Just minutes before I tried your exercises for the first time, I could not dance or get up easily from the bed, my back was very tight and painful. I did your exercises only once for like 20 min and now I can dance again! I feel the pain much less! I will do this every day from now. God bless you!

Back to this routine off and on and each time my experience is a different. Each time my body is different and require something Unique For that particular day. I think this is the beauty of this session . No right of wrong tempo.... Just a constant reminder to be present. 💖

I love this. I am just recovering from polymyalgia rheumatica (I hope) but some of my muscles are weak and also my circulation is bad. Steroids have helped but also played havoc. I am coming off them now and I think that this routine will help me to build back some strength and circulation, especially I need it for hear and vascular strength which is helped by good muscles. And your style makes me feed so chilled too. Thank you
