Happy New Year!
This is traditionally the time of year when everyone wants to get fit and healthy. We want to get rid of the indulgences and excesses of the holiday period. This is what I'll be showing you in this post. I have a special treat which is how to use Qigong for cleansing. This exercise is in the paid programme of Space To Relax online video lessons. It's very quick and easy to perform and will take you around 2 minutes once you become familiar with the sequence of movements. Watch the video and follow along. You need to be in a standing position. Note how you feel before and after the exercise. I think you'll agree that this is a great way to use Qigong for cleansing your body and mind.

What Do I Do Next?
Learn the sequence of movements and practice this daily. This is the best way in which to maximise Qigong for cleansing the body, especially at the end of the day or anytime you feel tired.
There is another way to use Qigong for cleansing (especially after alcohol consumption) in one of my previous blogs so you might want to take a look at that too. It's called "Combatting Excess With the Ba Duan Jin" (spacetorelax.co... ).

For a long time I have suffered from restless leg syndrome and I possibly have peripheral neuropathy (according to my GP). I practise a bit of QiGong and I have felt for some time that this restlessness is an energy build up that needed to be released. So I googled my question (why did it take me so long to do this?) and found you, Janice, and this wonderful practice. This is definitely a MUST DO (and, indeed, love to do) daily practice. I shall always feel gratitude for you and your generosity and I hope, in the future, to take out membership with Space to Relax.

Hello, it's about negative Qi which have to be eliminate from up to down, along the body; if I understood right.

I plan to. I have practiced yoga for 18 years and adding Qi gong two years ago has been a blessing!

This is so helpful thanks. I'm doing this on my period, directed here from another one of your videos and it's really inspired my mood. How should I breathe in the bit where you bend and twist? It's quite fast so is it one breath per left/right movement?

Hi Kathy. Apologies for my late reply as I'm only just seeing this comment now. When you twist breathe out and when you come back to centre breathe in. It is a bit faster than you might usually breathe but think of the speed of breathing helping to drive any waste Qi down through the body in a very definite way. If it's too fast though, you can always slow it down as you don't want to be uncomfortable during this exercise. :-)
