Springfield, MO here! and new sub! I bought the Baitcaster combo from bass pro at the start of this year. it frustrated me at first, but after getting it dialed it, its been a wonderful combo for the money!

I was at Bass Pro last night and picked up the baitcast combo. There, it was ten dollars cheaper than the Blackmax. I’ve had the Blackmax reel for a few years now, so the Bill Dance one definitely has a lot to live up to!! Thanks for doing the video as I was skeptical because of the price.

New to the channel. Good video. I have a the bill dance baitcaster combo. It was my first baitcaster. My friend has the black Maxx and he can't stand it. As I loved the quantum. It's a great learning combo set up. The only issue I have with it is the release button sticks open and don't lock back upon first pull of retrieve. I have a few others now but have moved on to the lews mach2 combo. I absolutely love it. But would recommend the quantum to anyone that's just starting out with a baitcaster. For $70 you rest can't go wrong.

@@kcbassguys3806 I would suggest it. Its the pole I use regularly. It's a little more advanced but not much. Being a 7'3" pole you can cast a mile with it, sometimes accuracy isn't the best. But overall I enjoy it and would recommend it. But I would like to know how it stands up against similar rod and reel set ups. As I am always open for new opinions and information.

If anything I would’ve liked to see more shots of the lure hitting the water as u threw long-mid-short range casts...just to get an idea of how far it went and how much control and accuracy you were able to manage with the rod at different distances and areas with cover..I just purchased the bill dance a while ago for my first baitcaster and I really appreciate u doing this test video!

Good call. Hard to pull off with a chest GoPro though... it makes everything look farther away than it really is. 🤷‍♂️ we’ll try to get that shot going forward.

What line would be best to use on the bill dance bait caster reel ?

I got of these from bass pro shop but it seems that it’s not working, it’s a bait caster btw. I don’t know weather it’s the line I have or if it’s the rod, each time I press the button to release it doesn’t cast. I need help and I am new to bait casters

Sounds like the tensioner knob next to the handle is super tight. Should be orange if it’s the same as the one as in this video. Try turning that to the left or back toward you if you’re holding the rod tip out in front of you. Tie a lure on and loosen that up until it just barely falls. Then you should be in business. 👍

Adjust your brake settings and tighten them. It will limit your backlash and slowly loosen the brake setting as you get better and more comfortable with it. Hope this works for you. Good luck!!! Tight lines!!!

I've had the same issue. It either doesn't cast far enough or it will backlash.

Lol it’s you not the Rod bud baitcaster all about settings I adjust mine everytime I switch lures also make sure your settings are on brakes you can control

What's the dial on the opposite side of reel handle with numbers do?

It’s a spool tensioner. Higher number = higher tension

Do you know if it’s made for saltwater or freshwater?

You can use them in saltwater though as long as you thoroughly wash them in fresh water afterwards

Hey guys new subscriber here. Great review of the Quantum Bill Dance Combo's. I have never owned one, but I do have a few of the AG Blackmax combos. I know if I was in the market for another low cost baitcaster combo for bass fishing I might check one out.Looks nice and cool wherever you guys are. I live in Texas and it's well into the blazing hot time of summer here.God bless.
