One-fourth of congregations have decided to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church over differences in opinions regarding LGBTQ issues. The church has long debated its bans on gay clergy members and same-sex marriage. Correspondent Brooke Shafer joins "NewsNation Now" with the latest, saying while conservative Methodists say they are splitting over LGBTQ issues, some religious leaders say it is actually about money and power.

Way to go Bishop…the first thing you’re concerned about is the “budget”$$$$$. Where does saving souls fit nothing the big picture? Isn’t that what the church was founded on? Same happened in the PCUSA. What’s even worse is the splits this causes in the congregations themselves. Been there, done that.

Interesting I live in Belfast Northern Ireland and the Methodists are considered amongst the most inclusive and accepting of the the many denomination we host . 😉🙏

This is a shallow reporting the top and main line of the split is the book of discipline has been our guiding principles since about 1968 when the UMC gathered the other Methodist together. Now the UMC stopped in forcing the discipline around 2015 so the 2019 annual conference it was decided to allow the churches that disagree with the book of discipline to leave but Covid-19’s cancelled the next two conferences by that time the traditional churches had to use that provision to get out with there own churches. I expect the book of discipline will be drastically changed in the next few years

you "used to be Christian"? No you weren't. Maybe you went to church with your family once upon a time, but you've never been Christian or else you would be still be now.
