Drivelapse video of several Autoroutes in Quebec City (Ville de Québec) starting easterly along Autoroute 20 and then heading northerly crossing the Pierre LaPorte Bridge and then following A-73 into the northern suburbs of Quebec City. The video then turns southerly and follows A-73 back south through the city before finally traversing A-540 and A-40 towards Montreal.

Quebec City has a very European feel to me. Nice tour, thanks for the video.

Quebec City is an interesting mix of Europe and suburban Cleveland (or any other generic North American rust belt city).

Impressive freeway network for a city of its size.

Quebec City does have quite a large network for its size.

Awesome video, and the time setting of the video was just perfect. Hate it when there's no shoulder when something like that at 6:25 happens. Love how different, yet same, Quebec's freeways are compared to the rest of North America.

Thanks for the comment. I really lucked out with the light. I drove there and back from Toronto in a day, and I was expecting it to just be more clear than it was. And yeah, 6:25 was kind of annoying, but I think it looked worse on camera than it actually was.

What a very underrated video especially if it's in Canada. I like how A-40/A-73 was like being on A-15 in Laval.

thanks for the comment. I can see some resemblance between the A-40/A-73 and the freeways of Laval.

You need to do a Chicago freeways segment.

Asphalt Planet: The old Québec Bridge is my favourite bridges in Canada Also Asphalt Planet: *doesn't cross it a single time in this video* My last part of my first tour puts some details about turning the A-20 with concrete slabs. The MTQ had the opportunity to put those slabs on exit 305 with Lagueux road, but they "forgot" and just used more asphalt, I guess. You were definitely lucky with the sunset considering the rain you got just before. 😂 The approach to the city with the 2 bridges in the background is godlike, ngl. One last thing, while the widening is happening on Henry IV, we still have yet to have 21st century level public transport, except buses. A tramway is being hotly debated between the government and the mayor about its route rn.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I guess I could have crossed the old bridge, the connection is pretty easy between the freeway and Route 175, particularly southbound, but I didn't feel like leaving the freeway. I think it looks the best from the side anyways -- it's such a cool bridge. Oh well, it's too bad they didn't use more concrete on A-20, but at least there is some new concrete on A-40/73. That new road is so much better than what preceded it.

Do you plan to make more videos of Quebec City in the future? Btw, good choice of music, they are very nostalgic, perfect for a night time video

Quebec City, the provincial capital of Quebec may have restrictions due to Covid-19. What quarantine status is Quebec City and what's with "zone rouge"?
@AsphaltPlanet1
@AsphaltPlanet1 3 года назад
The Red Zone has restrictions on in-person dining as well as limits to social gathering size. I believe when this was filmed, both Montreal and Trois-Rivieres were red zones as well. A google search will probably yield more information than I can provide.

The black zone is the entire reconfinement, like the 2020 spring all schools would be closed. I know, the black zone doesn't exist, but it's possible it's happen one day

Great video! What's going on with this planned, canceled, or present expressways/routes map in Toronto? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cb/Map_of_Toronto_Expwys.gif -Gardiner Expressway: Western section existed 1971 and transfered to the city in 1997. The Gardiner Expressway was supposed to connect to Highway 2A then ends at Highway 401 beyond Lake Ave. It was planned and never built since 1971. The former eastern section was demolished in 2001. - Spadina Expressway: Was supposed to run north and south to Downtown Toronto but the construction on northern and southern secion to Downtown was canceled in 1971. The completed section is now called Allen Road. -Richview Expressway, Highway 400 extention, and Crosstown Expressway: This was proposed in 1966 but it was later deleted. So why most of these exprssways/routes are canceled, never built, construction canceled, and demolished eastern section on Gradiner Expressway?
@AsphaltPlanet1
@AsphaltPlanet1 3 года назад
Toronto's cancelled expressways will never be built. In the early 1970s, like in many cities, citizens revolted against neighborhoods being torn down in favour of freeway construction -- Toronto was no different. The oil crisis of 1972 helped to solidify those freeways cancellations. Most of the right of way has been sold off over the years now.

The Gardiner Expressway was actually transferred to Metropolitan Toronto in 1997, not 1992.
