Why was the Sweeper not putting new pawns down? Could it only increase your pawn count to 2 on a space if there was already 1 there, or something else?
6:00-6:04 and a couple other times before you played the Sweeper Edit: Ooohh ok, it was only showing new pawns when you were hovering over a space you could actually play the 2-pawn Sweeper. I see. @jessecox
THIS is the content I needed from the previews! Look how far Triple Triad has lasted (20+ years). Minigames are fantastic, and FFVII (specifically this part of the Remake because of Gold Saucer) is the PERFECT time to throw in the best minigames. In the OG, Gold Saucer was a place to play minigames to get good endgame items. I hope they do the same again. TLDR; Thank you Jesse for this in depth video!
I think it was only battle arena really although a case could be made for Chocobo racing if you count doing that for KOTR and Sneak attack materia. I just hope they dont go to crazy in locking stuff behind mini games id rather play them because I enjoy them rather than feeling like it being a roadblock to get something I want. One of the big reasons I have not replayed FFVIII is because of the card game and collecting stuff for it. Did it all on my one and only playthrough and had fun but dont really want to engage with it again. Thankfully in IX I could pretty much ignore the card game in it.
@@gothard5 Totally fine to disagree and I appreciate that you are vocalizing it peacefully to create a discussion. What content are you looking for Jesse to play? I'm curious.
@@goldentorn1329 yeah, honestly the game tutorial just don’t go deep enough, it punishes the player some time, but man do I like it, I feel like they nailed the side aspects of the game in every sense! (After failed attempts on ff7remake and XVI side content).
Finally a clear description and instructions. Literally tried other guides and they were useless. Your video is the only one that properly explains. Thankyou so much x
Thank you Jessie. I literally just googled "Queen blood card game" and this video popped up. I just started the video and you seem excited so that has me pumped that it's more triple triad fun instead of Tetra Master not fun.
i LOVED blitz ball, no idea why, everyone of my friends said i was nuts :P (I also enjoyed the various card games and what not but those were generally well received by the community)
It was a bit confusing when the tutorial explained it at first. But after losing the first couple of rounds to the “crybaby”, I started to get the hang of it. It’s gonna be hard to top Gwent tho, that card game was the absolute best!
As much as I want to know more about everything else in Rebirth, I'm glad you focused on this because it's the part I'm most curious about that runs no risk of spoiling anything.
A game as big as Rebirth looks to be and this is the most Jesse video that Jesse could have possibly released about it. I have been SO curious about this minigame and hoping it was good (still so much I want to know like if there are player cards to collect like in FF8) but THANK YOU for the coverage, Jesse. This game looks AWESOME. I cant wait :)
...then why can't I place a upper left number on the card next to a row with that number? It only allows you to place one or 2 cards... it's so limiting! Arg... honestly not liking it.
I just got the game and the card game drives me nuts. But thank you for the explanation. I think I get it a little better now. Still everytime I try to understand this game, my brain seems to shut down. I will give it another go, as it seems to be something you have to do. I don`t mind minigames, but I prefer stuff like the fitnessstuff or the dancing stuff from the remake. I´m happy that you have fun with it. I hope I will have that soon, too. Thank you.
There’s actually a baritone sax “solo” at around 8:00 - more of a short breakdown than a full solo, but it’s the actual instrument being played in the live sax cam footage.
Ngl I literally started playing Genshin because I wanted to play the Geshin TCG (which is genuinely fun I must say) so hearing about this makes me curious The gameplay kinda gives me Skylanders Skystones vibe which apparently was inspired by Triple Triad go figure :P The lane power gameplay is similar to Marvel Snap too :O Ok I'm decided I'll pick this game up when it comes out on PC. Never actually played FF VII so I'll be able to experience it for the first time as well 🤩Apparently no multiplayer, but an expansion with multiplayer component would be dope 😁
I just hope it's completely optional like Gwent. As in important gear isn't locked behind playing it. I'm glad it's there for people who want it but I never want to play another card game in my life. I played collectible card games for years and came to understand that I genuinely don't enjoy playing them, I just liked collecting shit.
Thanks that helps with the basics but theres a ton more to QB and I got a bunch of questions about how a card destroys my pawn and or a card I already have placed. Ive noticed that you can be blocked out of progressing in one lane by your opponent play certain card that turn your pawns into theirs keeping you from playing on that tile. Also where can you buy more powerful cards?
Maybe im wrong but this seems so simple and easy. Ive only faught a few people and it's just putting down cards to fill in the board. No strategy. You can't even do anything once an opponents card is down.
I like the card game but the piano game is going to prevent me from 100% on this. I got almost 100 greats with only 7 misses and I was no where near an A rank on the first song.
right when i think i know what im doing i dont. i beat Thorin (i think that's his name) 26 - 0 and then i went to try the girl surrounded by the box fort in kalm and went i can do this... and got my ass handed to me.
thank you for this early explanation. I literally happen to be working on a "Fix Tetra Master" project and I had been wondering how much of Queen's Blood was going to be the Tetra Master Apology Game. It's certainly makes more sense than Tetra, but I think it seems better on paper and in gameplay video than Triple Triad also. I see a lot of devs revamp Triple Triad, but I never see anyone try to fix Tetra. They just make their own things.
No, tetra master was fundamentality unintuitive. There won't be an "apology game" for it as it were, if there was going to be it would have been in FFX, which - for me at least, Blitzball made up for and then some. What are you using to fix tetra master? Is it a usable mod? What are the main issues in the game you're addressing? Are you ostensibly just fixing the presentation or are you intrinsically changing the mechanics?
@@upon-fe2720 The mechanics are what needed the most drastic overhaul to make the INTENDED way to play (from consumer view) actually work that way. The random hidden stats affecting battles helped no one let alone the game and even instructions and resources online not helping. I am overhauling a ton to systems to make it my own game (all game design is iterative and not all based on personal views of 'improvement'). Seriously though, a lot of game borrow from Triple Triad mechanics but use Tetra Master's field (Creatures of Aether, Joustus in Shovel Knight's King Knight Campaign). But Tetra Master's mechanics are what get thrown away immediately and not even referenced.
Of course FF7 now has a card game. The later main PS1 Final Fantasies had their own card games, so why not FF7? Probably going to the next card game for the next Final Fantasy MMO since 11 had Tetra Master and 14 has Triple Triad.
Triple Triad from FF8 had me hooked! Love that mini-game, I think I'm just gonna mute the main game music when I get into this new card game and blast "shuffle or boogie" in the background, ya know.. just to get me in the zone 😎
Jesse opens with an hommage to sidegames in video games, and how he loves them, and all I can think of is Machine Strike in Horizon ;-) Love ya Jesse! Edit: Ah and it gets a mention a couple of minutes later!
seems like you "cannon rush" the npc or something. fast expansion to their frontline so that they dont have space to put down their cards. this gonna b abusable i feel.
