I’m in Fort Worth Texas USA and in my heart this is a route I should take. I have an appointment with my orthopedic doctor in two days. I’m going to present this video as well as a print out of the LIFTMOR study. Prayers he gives his blessing. (I already have a personal trainer who can keep me in good form, spot me, and keep me on task) 🤞
How did it go? I’m a physical therapist and personal trainer and highly advocate for strength training. Many healthcare providers including physicians aren’t knowledgeable on this and perceive it as dangerous. To that I say having weak muscles and brittle bones is dangerous. I hope your physician was receptive!
I can understand your concern. trial participants started with bodyweight or very low weight, and worked on improving form with guidance from the professionals before they started lifting heavier. This is called progressive overload. I believe there was only one “adverse incident” during the trial, low back strain that resolved in a week. I’m a physical therapist and personal trainer; low back pain that resolves in a week is very minor. Having weak muscles and brittle bones is the greater threat to quality of life and life itself.
