Hey guys, Here show I fixed it. new commander owner here. I tried both ignition and stem switch. Wasn't that, blower resister new, wasn't that. It turned out to be the main computer plug located directly under the battery. I noticed it got worse when it rained. So I removed the battery and the battery holder. I opened up the connector and it was filled with water. Cleaned, wrapped in a plastic bag, and now all my gauges, turn signals works perfect

Yeah I tried to explain that to the guy that made this video that it might have just been him taking the battery in and out and jiggling the connector up under the battery like some of the other idiot mechanics on RU-vid it may have not actually been the problem. I've seen people fix the other wire problem for just 3 months until they thought they had another starter issue and kept replacing starters over and over and over again when it was just the yellow wire that connects to the starter had corrosion or didn't have a good connection and every time they replace the starter and it worked for 3 months they thought that it wasn't the yellow wire and it was the starter was the problem. So I'm hoping this guy from 3 years ago that I've been arguing with can come reread this and make the conclusion that him slamming the battery down in the Jeep and just replacing it may have jiggled that connector just enough for the dash lights to stop when it's known to be a grounding negative wire issue but he argued with me over and over again and and patted himself on the back because he sent this car back to somebody and didn't drive it around himself for 3 months to watch it come back and just while it wasn't happening in front of him anymore he fixed it with a battery but us Jeep commanders know that the problem continues to come back until we figure out what it actually is not jiggle around wires and replace batteries in the area that's causing it because if you bump around in any area where the wire causing the problem is it'll fix itself for the time being until the person that paid all the money for it to get fixed drives it around and hits a couple of bumps and then the problem starts happening again after they've done bottles battery listening to the mechanic..... He doesn't seem to get that though

There's another guy on here that swears that you have to reprogram the PCM to get the Christmas dash lights to stop and he's a 25-year mechanic as well I'm on my fifth battery and still have the Christmas lights and I've owned my commander since the end of 2014. None of the batteries I've ever fixed it. You can even tell in the video when he removes the negative which is grounding the Jeep better the lights start back when he puts the ground back on the battery which grounds the car out better the Christmas lights stop but yet his mind didn't go no further than that and he is argued with me on like three different replies that he's got it figured out because he had some jump box connected and unconnected making the ground better in a video.... Just wish it was his car so he could have drove it for six more months to see it come back probably still wouldn't have come back and apologized to me though...

This is known to Jeep commanders and has been a problem you can replace all the wiring alternators and batteries that you want to it's that Chrysler dimir corporation used very faulty and cheap plastic quick connects for a lot of connection points for the interior wiring and especially to the dash and when the car is cold it'll do it more often because the contact points between these cheap plastic male and female pigtail connectors expand and contract because they're metal and plastic just like anything else does in the heat and cold and you have more trouble getting a connection whenever you first start the vehicle in the cold rather than in the summertime you will almost not see this at all in really hot weather but we'll see it quite a bit during the winter time. If you type in on RU-vid Jeep Commander Christmas lights or Jeep Commander dash going crazy you will see a shit ton of videos and every one of them don't know why it's happening I've had my car at the actual Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership here on lake keowee numerous times nobody knew what to do to it I've had my personal mechanic that I know has been working with cars for 25 years and he is stumped and still to this day it does it but it doesn't cause a problem and it only doesn't intermittently. I have found that if I open up the bottom of the kick panel on the driver side right where your knees are it just folds down on hinges and shake the wiring around in there where the harnesses All connect that it will start doing it and then stop the best thing you can do is get a small flat blade screwdriver disconnect all of the plastic pigtails pull the tabs up to where they will touch the other metal tabs in the opposing plastic pigtail connector better and have more Force pushing down on the metal connection points and put some dielectric grease inside but it has absolutely on my life I know absolutely nothing to do with the alternator or battery... You're chasing Gremlins that you're never going to find not unless you start fooling with the wiring just hope this helps

I'm not sure how this comment has anything to do with the confirmed diagnosis I showed in the video....

@@L1Training because you sound like the rest of the idiots at the Chrysler dealerships telling us all the same thing when there is a whole Facebook group with thousands of thousands of people that own Jeep commanders that have heard the same shit and it's not the alternator and it's not got anything to do with your diagnosis your diagnosis is absolutely wrong that's just what it's telling the ECM. Chasing what you were saying is wrong with this Jeep Commander is just like chasing a O2 sensor problem on a early '90s car you're going to replace everything in the world and find out that it wasn't that to start with after spending thousands of dollars take it from somebody who's on a Jeep Commander for a long time and been part of a community that has been talking about the same problem for over a decade and still has not figured out why all of our not just mine everybody that owns a Jeep Commander with every platform that they offered V6 and both v8 engines have this issue and it's not the damn alternator and it has nothing to do with the AC. Until you have tried to fix all the problems that you said the diagnosis was and still continue to drive the car around yourself because you own it to watch it just do it all over again after somebody like you swore they had it figured out then you can come talk to me about the diagnosis on your computer being right I'm trying to tell you that the customer or whoever owns this damn car ended up rolling off of wherever you were fixing it from and still had the problem if it hasn't showed up yet and you haven't got a phone call about it I guarantee you it's going to happen you're going to get a phone call about the same shit still occurring after your little diagnosis. That's what it has to do with. I thoroughly explained that I am the owner of a Jeep Commander and I've heard this same shit crap diagnosis being given to me before and supposedly fixed and it wasn't the issue it's a grounding issue. And all the technicians and their little computers in the world at every place that any of our commanders have been taken cannot figure it I'm sorry did you did not like being informed that you weren't this magical guy that just figured out the electrical Jeep Commander problem out of nowhere but I'm telling you you didn't. I would love to see you join the Jeep Commander forum called Jeep Commander nation and post the same exact video and watch what happens in the comments. Before you do any of running your mouth back at me go to the Jeep Commander group on Facebook and post this video for me
@lestatdelioncourt7513

It's erratic it doesn't repeat itself and happen all the time for you to even do something to a part on the car to know if it fixed itself and it mostly happens with everybody in their Jeep Commander not just me in the dead middle of the winter time when you're not even using your air conditioner you can replace all the components that you want it's a grounding issue
@L1Training
@L1Training Год назад
@@lestatdelioncourt7513 Cool story bro, we fixed the car with the battery. The issue you are talking about is the regulator for the alternator is in the PCM. We repair those PCMs often after we diagnose them. So yes, many PCMs need replaced to fix the alternator not being controlled properly, but that was not this car. What you fail to understand is I do not use your silver bullet method of "these cars do this- and its always this part". I test and analyse every car, I use evidence and results to build a diagnosis. This was the battery, the car has been fixed. Your barking up the wrong tree. Good luck with your commander crew.
@lestatdelioncourt7513
@lestatdelioncourt7513 Год назад
@@L1Training that's amazing to me how you fixed it with the PCM when everybody on the commander for them they own this car since it came out in 05 has fixed it with fixing the shitty ground that Chrysler put in going from the motor to the battery all you have to do is either replace the battery cable or clean up the connection and reconnect it better than the shit heads from the factory did. That's why I didn't say anything at first because I wanted to see exactly what all you went through so fucking with the PCM and replacing the alternator because on these vehicles the regulator is inside of the alternator and you've either got to have it rebuilt or buy another one so that's close to $200 and something dollars right there $150 if you got a cool discount like you and then whatever you wax their ass with on fixing the PCM when it was a grounding issue going from the motor to the battery. Yikes I'd hate to be that person and I still want you to place your post and what you've had to say on the Jeep Commander for him so I can see all the crying dying laughing faces and them correcting you just as well as I have.and then have to go through the countless testimonies of how you went through hundreds of dollars of somebody else's money and went around your asshole to get to your elbow to fuck with a bunch of stuff that's only going to give a problem again because that ground was not fixed. When they call you back because the issue has reappeared please comment on this post so I can know about it and laugh with the Jeep Commander community. Again if you don't own this car you don't know how intermittently this stuff will happen I have had it stop happening for a complete year and then rear its ugly head making everything on my instrument cluster flash again and thought it was completely gone and then it be 5 minutes before it happened again and then the next time 5 months before it happens again you think you fixed it because it didn't occur again while you were handling the vehicle and while it was still in front of you. I promise you you've patted yourself on the back prematurely again how I know this is owning one as long as I have and talking to a community of people that are thousands of thousands of folks in the United States and also the people that own them in the UK so I think I might know a little bit about what I'm talking about. I'm not an idiot I have multiple computers to throw on my commander I have a rebuilt other cars I have dealt with issues like this elsewhere it seems to be a theme with Chrysler cars a lot of the problems in the 300s and other vehicles with the same engine and same setup is just the plastic pigtail connector that has little metal fins that are supposed to touch on little metal fans inside of the other connector that need electrolysis grease and bending back forward because they've been up under so much pressure between the years and bumps going down the road from driving that they've gotten settled the way that they are and there's no good connection anymore so.... The Gremlins you are chasing are in multiple places and have to do with connection issues and grounding issues all throughout the car I have had it out with the Dodge dealership before me and a lot of Jeep Commander owners just figured it out ourselves there's a whole lawsuit about it
