Out in the yard on a beautiful property, practicing pistol presentation, with good music playing in the background. This is the real American dream our ancestors envisioned for us all.

When my wife and I watch TV, I practice my dry fire. If it's something I haven't seen I pick a character and draw every time they come on screen. This helps with my reaction time and speed. And It doesn't take away from me spending time with my family.

Love this... Truth for so many things in life.... "When it comes to dry fire we want to perform the appropriate amount of meaningful repetitions until we get engraved skills into our hard drive that we can access on a subconscious level".

If you don’t have a timer they have RU-vid videos from USPSA with a target and beeps for 1.5, 1.3, 1, .8, etc. for par times. I used that for months until I finally got my own timer.

In my basement, there is a small status light on a power strip on a cabinet that I aim at. It's just the right size that I can practice my trigger pull while aiming at the light, blocking it just and completely with my front sight. If my trigger pull is bad, I see light. Practicing this 10-20x every few days over the winter helped me tremendously as a new pistol shooter to get ready for some local competitions.

Especially with a dot, you can use really tiny targets. Somehow, we ended up with one of those little tiny size stickers from a piece of my wife's clothing on the wall. I use that little thing that's probably not even half an inch for practice. Or the dots on the fingerboard of the guitar in my guitar stand. The caps of lotion bottles sitting on a dresser. You can really see if you are pulling the dot off target on the trigger press.

The execution and crisp mythical muscle memory and that click hammer fall at the apex of that noteworthy presentation…. it just doesn't get anymore picture perfect! Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance… Semper Fi big dawg! Err! This dude abides! Makes my happy smile when I see perfection in marksmanship! I competed with against the army in a division shooting comp while I was in and I felt good about my shooting and can say without it crushing my ego to terribly that we got beat by them dawgy’s and fella get some brothers from the u.s. army in that comp.

I use the G-sight ELMS PLUS 9mm training cartridge and G-Sight app when I'm doing dry fire training. Not only am I practicing those fundamentals, I'm also getting feedback so I can adjust my focus. I can see a difference in groups when I dry fire a few days before I hit the range versus when I don't. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Thanks for this video, I recently picked up a 226 because I wanted to learn DA/SA and noticed my groups spread out the first time I took it out to the range. After watching this I started dry fire practicing the double action pull using a front blade size target. Keeping the front sight lined up on a same size target through the trigger pull really made a difference. Just tonight I had the best round of shooting @30ft I've ever done with any handgun and all shooting just in DA. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Picking a small target and backing up to front sight size is great . Got new sights on my 43 so I’m going to use this drill , maybe with a back board till I see how to adjust my hold . The slide on that gun you got is beyond slick , it sounds more like it’s gliding on the rails . Have a good day .

Once again, premium advice from a dude who has fired a gazillion rounds in practice for the real deal, and for the real deal, no doubt. I found it interesting this was the Unit's primary weapon during service in east Europe. Was it a 1911 back then? Or were you guys carrying micro pistols as well?? ....per mission requirement? Wondering which pistols you were issued with and without silencer? PAT, I hope you see this and can throw in a quick comment. I was also a cold war guy '85-'92... Army infantry. That era is fascinating, especially your mission over the wall. 🤘🤘 Thanks Pat! You are a super motivator!
