Honestly. This was such a beautiful outcome for EVERYONE. OP has 4 wonderful parents, his adoptive parents were given the joy and privilege of having him as a son, and his birth parents were blessed to be reunited with their son and have a chance to build a relationship with him after having to make the impossible choice to give him to someone who was in a better position to raise him. I love this story so much because it just worked out so well for everyone. Obviously giving up their child at 14 wasn’t what the birth parents would have wanted, but it allowed both them and OP to be in better positions for their journeys ahead. I just love that they were reunited

Dude, RSlash... no, no no no. Don't apologize for having gotten emotional. The audio quality stayed great. Audio quality is a technical aspect. It captured your emotion perfectly and it's your emotion that honestly makes you such a good listen. The first story... I'm adopted too. My birthmother gave me up when I was a newborn due to being in a bad situation when I was born. We lost contact after I was adopted due to paperwork getting lost throughout the years. I'm now a 26 year old adult, and 26 years later we finally reconnected over the internet. After speaking with her for about six months, I went and visited her in the country of my origin. It was very emotional. We shared stories, cried, spent time with each other. Not once did I resent her. My adoptive parents raised me well, they let me know from the get go that I was adopted, they told me my birth mother made the hardest decision by giving me up, she gave me up out of love. 26 years later, and I'm so grateful we found each again.

I am so happy for you being so lucky to have parents, both adoptive and biological, who love you and did everything for you to have a good life. And you sound like a wonderful human, you absolutely deserve this love and know how to spread it around. Beautiful stories, both yours and the one in the video, they show there’s still hope for humanity. I wish you all the very best, and hope you continue bonding with your birth mom and loving both her and your adoptive parents! ❤️❤️❤️

Story 2: I think Nick Crowley covered this story, he found a few news articles that basically confirmed that this did happen, down to the time (Jan 29). The daughter just "didn't want to be alone", but that definitely didn't help things considering how psychotic she was acting.

Your first story was wonderful to hear. I'm currently taking in a 16 year old girl (I'm taking classes to become her foster mom) who is being removed from a parent that should NEVER have had children (she had 4 daughters and I have the youngest). She was a drug addict that relied on others to literally care for, love, and comfort (as well as feed clothe, etc) "her" kids. Anyway, great job presenting a wonderful story that brightened my day. Sorry so long. THANK YOU and the WONDERFUL BOY that shared a beautiful story.

I’ve heard stories about people giving up kids or being given up. And I’ve seen it portrayed in shows/on movies. In story 1, I think OP and his mom have the best story of this. She was 14 and handled the situation amazingly. Writing that letter to explain it, that was a pro move. Because usually, the kid grows up with questions and insecurities, the whole ‘why didn’t my mom love me?’ Or ‘I hate her for abandoning me!’ But she wrote the letter, so OP knew his mom didn’t hate him and understood that a 14 year old just couldn’t handle it, and knew she was open to a relationship eventually. Soooo great

Honestly, I have a similar story in my life. I'm adopted, but my parents told me from birth that I was, and said my Bio Mom and Bio Dad couldn't give me the life I deserved at the time. So they put me up for adoption and even kept in contact with them. I haven't met them yet, but I do send gifts to them(and my half siblings). They were both in college, so nothing rough about teenage pregnancies, tho. Honestly, my half siblings are scarily similar to me in my interests(Sister loves Pokémon and we had the same favorite for a while, and brother loves dnd lol).

I'm so glad the first story turned out wholesome any way you look at it. OP's parents had a kid young and couldn't provide him a good life, so they reluctantly turned him over for adoption with a note to find them someday. OP grows up in a happy, loving home and decides to find his bio parents. And the bio parents both loved and kept thinking about their son during that time. That's the sort of thing that keeps my faith in humanity alive, man!

That first story hits me hard. I never met my biological father, he and my mom had an affair while he was married. I wanted to meet him my whole life. Eventually, a few years ago, I tracked him down with some help and gave him a call. We talked on the phone a few times… but he died of a heart attack before we could meet. I wasn’t even allowed to attend the funeral. The family I grew up with was abusive… it messed me up bad. I live with so much resentment and pain towards everyone now. I’m happy beyond words for OP for having that happy ending and growing up with a good family, this story just hit me so hard…

I just wanna say that I had to fast forward through the first story. My meeting with my birth mother was not very good, I had heard she was a dog groomer. So when I was in my 20s I went to this dog grooming shop and Tucson to see if they would teach me how to be a dog groomer. When I came in there was a woman there that was so nasty and rude to me I couldn’t believe it, that I met the owner and she asked me why I wanted to get into dog grooming. So I told her that my real mother was a dog groomer and then she asked me my real mothers name so I told her. The woman that was being so rude and nasty to me was my real mother. I have to tell you it is very difficult to not start crying right then and there. I turned around and walked out the door I didn’t even go to the bus stop to catch the bus home. I walked 6 1/2 miles. I didn’t shed a tear really until I got home and then it took me about three days to get my shit together. I had always heard what a horrible woman she was and never really wanted to believe it, she was truly a horrible nasty woman and about 30 years later, I had about a three week relationship with her. During that three weeks she was so unkind and just awful to other people so I ditched her. I heard she died on Thanksgiving in 2016, I don’t really care. I realize that I am a woman without a mother and that is OK because I’m making my own way. Sorry for the long post, I guess I really did need to get that off my chest, thanks for the read 👂 my heart goes out to OP🌹

This first story is so beautiful and it hits so close to home. My story is way too long to share here. But after I found my birth mom at 49 and asked her millions of questions, she had only one: "After finding out you were alive, I only wonder if you were happy and loved". It has been 3 years and I can't believe how lucky I am to find her, but most of everything, bring her back her only son. (If it doesn't make sense, sorry, English is not my first).

It's so wonderful that his bio parents were so sweet, and that they had so much hope to see him again some day. ❤ My mom was adopted, and after she found her bio mom we went to try to meet her (I was 5, and yes, she did explain it all to me). That day we met her grandmother and half-sister, plus several other extended family members. Her bio mom, however, arranged a time to meet us privately. When we (Mom took me everywhere with her) went back for that meeting, it was just with her, and they talked a long time. The sad thing was that she told my mom that it was just too hard for her, and she wasn't ready to have ongoing contact with us. She was only 15, and all of it was too hard for her. We never have met Mom's bio dad, but even though her bio mom couldn't, the rest of the family was really excited, and we've had great relationships ever since. We were always careful though, to give bio mom her space when we went to visit everyone else.

I had to give my first son up for adoption when I was 16. As soon as I turned 18, and my mom couldn’t control me anymore, I immediately got an apartment with the dad (we never broke up) and we went to court for our son back. We had proof that we had been forced to sign the papers by our parents, plenty of texts and emails about it on my laptop. We got him back when he was almost 3 and he’s 12 now. He’s got 1 little brother and 1 little sister and I can’t imagine my family being 4 instead of 5. My biggest fear was meeting my son when he was older and him thinking we didn’t want him.

This is the third time I've heard someone read this story and it always is emotional to listen too. You're not the only one who got emotional reading this story so don't judge or apologize rSlash. You are not the only one who found this story emotional and had trouble keeping your emotions back.

adoption stories really get to me, because i was adopted from birth too. there's something uniquely bittersweet about the huge amount of love to have for your child, enough to want them to have the best life possible, even if it means you can't be the one to raise them

I used to be emotionally distant from strangers, but lately it's become hard not to sympathize with these heavy stories. I am not there yet, but this story's got me close to being teary eyed.

as a momma on the other side, waiting for my babies to come looking, my god story one hit me like a ton of bricks.... so many tears... All of it is so relatable... the few things i have of theirs, the journals, keeping in contact with bio father for my kids sake... god damn it... bawling....

First story was an example of how sometimes, adopted parents don't need to fight bio parents (or vice versa) over the child. It seemed both OP and his adopted parents understood the bio parents were children themselves who lacked the skills needed to properly raise an infant, and held no ill will towards them for their choice to give up OP to parents who were better equipped for raising kids

The fact that you are sobbing means that you still have some hope for humanity which is good considering that you read Reddit stories for a living.

Kills me when rSlash has a title like "dead bodies discovered in best friend's house, not click bait!!!!" and the first story is something beautiful and cathartic. Especially as someone who grew up without a dad and spent half my childhood in foster care.

Don't worry rslash, I've been sobbing since I got my degree results this week. 2:1 (sort of equivalent to a 3.4-3.7 in the US). I've been invited to complete the second stage of the MSc application process, and working on applying for a Peer Support Worker role. Only eight years ago, I was constantly suicidal, self harming and goijg through it with PTSD. I was homeless in 2017 after escaping an abusive relationship with my mum (our relationship is much better today, as she worked on herself and realised that she wanted a relationship with me more than the control she wanted over me). I got my first job as a cleaner at a hospital, and now I want to work with others who struggle with mental health. To be able to show them that it gets better. It's incredible to think my life has changed over such a (relatively) short period of time. Excuse me while I sob again...

Damn, that even made ME tear up lol. I almost never cry unless I'm frustrated but idk. There's always something about those stories where a child receives some genuine love from their mom after years of not getting any that reduces me to a puddle of tears.

That first story hit me in the feels too, I was adopted & never met my birth parents so it hit me in a certain spot. Then we follow up that story with a story involving a corpse, fantastic, love it. That's not sarcasm, I just have weird tastes.

Reminds me of the story of my cousin. My aunt and uncle had a child when my aunt was 16 and my uncle was 17. The 2 of them gave the kid up, but then as fate would have it, the baby ended out going to the school my aunt taught at. They didn't realise it until my cousin was in 7th grade, but they straight up cried in the parking lot for 5 hours straight.

I gotta say, as an adoptee My experience meeting my birthmom was relatively the same. I just wish my birth father had been the same as well, he didn't know about me until I was 21 and adamantly refused to believe that I was his child until we met on my 21st birthday and since then he has made no effort to reach out other than wishing me a Happy Birthday a year ago and and a message at the beginning of the pandemic

I have a narcissistic abusive mother who I haven't talked to in almost 2 years. She destroyed relationships all around her, mostly in the family. This week I finally got the courage to reach out to my aunt and ask if we could speak and catch up. She's calling me next week end when my uncle will be on his fishing trip. Hearing how OP's bio parents held so much love for him that they would do the most painful thing to do for the best of their child and still hold on to the hope that he has a happy life... it also had me crying. If only all parents could love their kids like this. To seek out only the best for them and their well being. I'm so happy for them 🥰❤
