Judging by the typing style, it reads more like someone who doesn't quite grasp the English language, plus cash app is a very common tool for scammers to use. My theory is it's some guy who's either learning English or has barely learned it in India or simalia. (a couple of countries where scammers are most common.)

I have noticed a majority of these are aimed towards artists. It amazes me that so many ungrateful people actually exist who truly feel artists somehow shouldnt be compensated for their hard work. "Exposure" doesn't pay the bills.

For some people it may seem like there's a gaping empty space in their home/life, and they need to fill it ASAP to normalize things. It doesn't mean the new pet is a "replacement" for the deceased one. I had two senior cats pass within a year of each other and both times got a new kitten within a month. It just didn't feel right only having one cat in the house. In the end, we all react to loss differently because we're all different people.

@@mischarowe Nah, this is how you catch them out. You offer to help, but not in a way that puts money straight into their hand, right then and there. You find out _very_ quickly whether they really need help or not. Easy example (warning: lots of typing. Anyone who struggles with reading more than a few lines of text, I recommend you give up now) - there are quite a few homeless people in and around the city where I work. They don't cause many problems, for the most part - there are several services and charities available to help them, or even help them to help themselves (I work for one of them), but their presence has made it all too obvious to the city's population of addicts that there are a lot of generous people eager to help out a homie down on their luck. This means that anyone out shopping tends to encounter an awful lot of scruffy, young men and women sitting against the fronts of buildings, tucked up in sleeping bags, trying hard to look cold and pathetic as they hold their hands out. It works out pretty well for them too - one of the cleverer ones hit on the idea of acquiring a cute and friendly dog to draw in the suckers. He came in to our charity shop one time to ask if we could swap out some of the piles of change he'd been given into notes - he'd scored nearly a hundred pounds in one day, just sitting on his arse with his hand out (he tended to be given a lot of dog food as well, but that just got abandoned wherever it was that he'd been begging). Whenever I happen upon someone begging for my money, I'll apologise and say that I don't have any cash on me, just my bank card, and offer to buy them lunch, or some sandwiches or something for later if they're really actually stuck. The ones who just want drug money will angrily turn down the food and just keep asking for cash. One even suggested once that he accompany me to an ATM . . .

To be fair, a lot of people (myself included) sleep past 8am or whenever school starts if they don't have work making them get up earlier than their natural sleep cycle (for example, when I was in college and could set my own schedule, I slept in late, worked late, and worked better that way because I'm naturally more alert at 9-11pm than at 9-11am since my body's natural sleep cycle is like 3am-11am or 4am-noon). By itself, that might just be a sign that the CB's a night person rather than a morning person---after all, if your work has a flexible schedule (such as job-hunting), it's the amount of work that matters, not whether that work takes place in the day or in the evening. That said, the fact that the CB was making excuses for "not being able to" seek employment is not a good sign.
