Parent: *takes disabled person's wheelchair* Everybody: Wait! That's illegal! What would YOU do if an entitled mommy tried to steal your daughter's wheelchair right out from under her?

Even if she was faking a disease the wheelchair is still her property

"My client attacked a disable women because her 7 year old son is a doctor and decided she was not really handicapped"

That attitude of “if you don’t look disabled, then you aren’t” REALLY makes me angry, as someone who used to have epilepsy when I was a child, a disability that is NOT visible on the surface

"I think you're faking, so I'll commit assault and theft." How do entitled people think like that?

If someone tried to steal my kid’s wheelchair, they’d NEED a wheelchair.

That poor lawyer who had to defend her probably needed therapy after that one

Bruh the EM didn't even stop to say sorry when she pulled her off the wheelchair and hearing scream in pain it angers me to see the EM act like that. The EM needs more then 4 years.

That first story was SO frustrating. I have EDS too, and it’s _NOT_ a joke. It hurts so bad and is a daily nightmare. I’m not at the point where I need a wheelchair yet, but I do have to use a walker; and I’m only 18. People like that entitled mother make me SICK, and hearing the words “fake” and “pathetic” made me feel so sick, because I’ve heard it a thousand times before.

I can’t believe that almost nobody helps the person in the wheelchair!

If that Entitled Mother had assaulted my disabled child and tried to steal their wheelchair, I would be the one leaving the store in a police car, and she'd be leaving in a body bag.

I work in private security and I would strongly recommend that every single person learn exactly the amount of force they are legally allowed to use to stop these types of crimes.

I work at a middle school with special needs kids and I go into Mama Bear mode any time someone messes with them so you can imagine how I’d be if someone did that to my own kid.

Me: dies in a car crash Em: stop faking and give me your property

In my opinion, the #1 rule of people in wheelchairs is this: assume their life depends on that wheelchair, and leave them alone. This is a rule I think most people understand, but unfortunately some people don't.

For the record, having someone try to force me to give up my chair for them is a legitimate fear for me, same level as being harassed or stared at for it.

This has to get off my chest, I grew up with: "Do not stare at a disabled person! Do not bother the disabled person!" I only look if I notice they need something from the shelf and (for some reason) give a peaceful little bow. I seriously don't know why I bow... Few weeks ago a very old lady was before me in the line and the cassier asked her wallet, she couldn't find her card and people waited already a long time. She started to sob when the cassier said: "How are we going to solve this?" - I just gave my card, it's a pandemic and it's the least I can do, I'm in disability myself, so I gave her a small bow and wished her a nice day, while she cried saying: "There are still some people..." - The cassier knows me well and rubbed tears away - "Dangit, you are way too kind..." I told her, if this lady on a cart has to walk back to her service flat and back, she'll be much more tired - I don't know her and tbh, just help each other and she wasn't entitled at all. All I know is that I made the entire line cry, the cassier and the old lady...

also, kudos to the employee. I know it's hard when you aren't used to issues like that; but, to step in and do what they can... and also to be so forward and gentle with questions about something that might be painful to the op? awesome jobs on their parts.

If that were to happen to my child I definitely would introduce the perpetrators to whole new levels of pain that they couldn’t even imagine in their worst nightmares.

Stories like this remind me how lucky I am to have functioning limbs not just to walk and stuff but to catch humanity's mistakes like that women.

As a guy with severe rheumatoid arthritis that will only worsen as I get older, that "entire left side of my body got torn out of place" I about screamed for how bad that would've hurt...

EDS is an absolutely vile hideous and terrible condition! I am a potter and an art therapist. I have EDS clients and I have seen the pain and terrible injuries these amazing people have to go through in their lives. I had one girl dislocate her wrist by working with clay!!! Nothing I did but she tried too hard to push the clay and her wrist popped out! She had a great time but it was painful for her. She still came back (after a week or so off to let her wrist heal) she is such a beautiful human too 🥰

How are people still this indecent? How could any of these people ever do this? Sometimes I just don't understand people.

I’d consider myself a pretty chill person, but hearing about that entitled mom stealing the wheelchair totally made me blow my top, and I wasn’t even there!!! That’s insane. All Entitled parents out there: just stop.

The first story had me FURIOUS! A good friend of mine has eds as well. He's had to deal with the "its fake" bullshit from lots of people including doctors! When op started talking about all the joints that went out and how much pain she was in I was crying because I know it's happened to my friend too... I would've absolutely slapped that mother so hard!

When EPs say their kids are angels, they obviously mean the kind that fell from heaven and are now demons.

and the fact that the parent agrees with her whatever year old child to steal a wheelchair just because "my legs are tired" is astounding

I don't know what's worst, the woman and the kid trying to steal the wheelchair or the fact that wheelchairs cost *700 freaking Euros*

I have dislocated both my knees (each on separate occasions!) and it is so incredibly painful I cannot even begin to think about how much pain that person may be in if practically half her body to get dislocated

As a wheelchair user myself, I can say that this sort of shit happens way too often.

I have EDS as well- it is SUPER painful so this story made me furious! I cannot believe the EM even dared to suggest her son deserved the chair let alone battered OP to steal it!

When I heard the wheelchair story every line were something happened and what she did made my jaw drop each time what kind of a human even does that

the first story broke my heart so bad i was on the verge of tears. I could just imagine the scene unfold as it was being narrated. I have never experienced or seen this kind of behaviour in my country thankfully, but have heard so many similar stories like this on the internet (occurring in other countries.) It baffles me so bad how people can be so cruel, even going as far as getting violent with a disabled person. even if they dont believe them (which i also dont get) how are they so brave to ACTUALLY get physical with a potentionally disabled person? I just don't understand if this is a mental illness or there's simply people out there who are overly entitled that they have no problem doing this and STILL put the blame on you. At first i was just mad but i really was about to cry for op. I hope they're doing better these days...

I am disabled and have heard every “free money for crips” argument there is. But, though I am not yet 50, and look healthy enough to work, i have not been able to for 20 years due to frequent hospitalizations. I have been on disability since then, and two years ago, entered a nursing home. Don’t judge what you do not understand. If you are disabled and cannot work, that is ok. I do volunteer projects at church, currently I am the online greeter for our church service during the pandemic. I also make greeting cards, the best hobby ever.

There’s probably going to be a special hell made specifically for the EM, where she feels the constant pain of dislocating joints in her legs, with a wheelchair just out of reach. In the wheelchair would be none other than a twisted version of her son, playing in the chair, and mocking her by telling her to just get up and walk, and so she’s forced to endure this pain and suffering until the end of time.

UPDATE: EM from the first story was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Ahhhhhh!!! The wheelchair stories always make my blood boil DX i was born with a genetic disease just like my now deceased little brother and we were practically raised in chairs. Now that im older i can’t travel without it, it’s like oxygen to me. I can only stand for 4 minutes now. I know people have trouble understanding if they’ve always been “okay”, but a chair is sacred and loved by the butt that sits in it. We don’t want to be treated differently, just leave us in peace. (As my little brother would say) ~small rant over~

For the first story when they say "My mom went into superprotective mode" I just imagined the wheelchair magically teleport into the mom's hand with the kid falling on the floor same with the entitled mom

I Applaud that mother for just SLAPPING the woman who tried to take her daughter’s wheelchair. I would have KNOCKED HER ASS OUT! Entitlement will never get you anywhere in life. I hope she learned that! I hope other people learn that too .

I also have EDS. I have had similar things happen to me when I've been out in my wheelchair. People seem to think it's a toy not a necessary piece of medical equipment.

I cannot even fathom walking up to a random person and declaring with confidence that I know more about their health and life than they, their doctor, their insurance company, or their family do. Let alone demanding they give up their own property for the amusement of a small child. The absolute COJONES she has to assume that she's in the right and everyone else is wrong when the consequences are so severe. Someone please give me the confidence of entitled idiots, I'd do so much good with it.

Love this. I have bJHS which is a milder form of EDS3. Basically all the pain but none of the dislocation. The amount of times I have to explain my limp or my lean, or why I need to sit in disabled seats on buses is insane, because aside from the prominent limp during a flare, I look totally ok. The really annoying thing? It causes all these extras, IBS (bowel and bladder), numbness, pins and needles, occasional paralysis, blood pressure dips, insomnia, fatigue, and all you can do is mild exercise and painkiller management and all the side effects that go with that. Thankfully, no hospital stays for me, I can still work, and flares just need tons of bed rest. I also have an amazing boss who forces me to rest when I’m being stubborn and working through the pain. I hope my fellow Zebra never experiences any of that ever again. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover people. Zebras are everywhere, you just need to look past the horses.

Update: first EM got 4 years. Kid went to live with grandparents. The family gave sincere apologies to OP.

Frankly, this person should have responded to the ADULT WOMAN'S first inquiry with "That is none of your business and you should be ashamed of yourself for asking." Would have been completely reasonable.

At the second story I heard the part of the mom saying “but my son has autism” and I’m like I have autism but I’m not even slightly shocked by any video game jumpscare
