So, being a total nerd I actually went to Honda's website and looked up the specified load limits for a Civic Sedan. Assuming this is the 11th (current) generation, this is what they had to say: "The maximum load for your vehicle is 850 lbs (385 kg). See the Tire and Loading Information label attached to the driver’s doorjamb. This figure includes the total weight of all occupants, cargo, and accessories, and the tongue load if you are towing a trailer." (NOTE: The "doorjamb" is the sticker located inside the door, which includes this detail. I know not everyone looks at every inch of their car, but it's kinda hard to never notice.) 12 bags at 80lbs each weighs 960lbs. So, this would exceed the maximum allowed weight of cargo ... NOT INCLUDING the person driving! And, as a side note, NO, this isn't like the maximum allowed weight on things like trampolines, where you have some room at the top. You don't. If this weight is exceeded, it will cause damage to the suspention. As the guy in the story found out ^^

If there's one thing I've learned from r/Maliciouscompliance, it's don't mess with concrete/cement people. It doesn't matter if they drive the truck, it doesn't matter if they load a car. If they have anything to do with cement or concrete, let them help you.

The big thing about people pushing AI in jobs is that they don't realize *they* are the ones that are going to be cut out and lose their jobs. Because why keep the guy who's worth a lot and pushing it when you can teach someone else that's cheaper to do it?

"The customer is always right" might be the quote vapid Karens love to use but its "the customer is always right when it comes to matters of taste". That means if the Karen wants a pickle and licorice sandwich then thats on them however that does not give them the right to scream at unfortunate teenager employee because they are too inept to understand simple things. 🙄

Story 4: My parents own a Toyota Sienna, and for a few years in a row, they've had to load multiple bags of soil and mulch at the same time, and yeah you can FEEL the difference, it was literally slowing the car down much faster on hills. Cars have weight limits, y'know, don't expect a car to handle absolutely everything you load it with

Story 2: Lying on the resume, trying to get rid of people she didn't like via BS Rule changes, literally plagiarism, this woman is immature as hell. I hope she never works at that kind of job again, because we don't need people that wrecks a team just because she doesn't like some people

The second story: This is eerily similar to what I went through with a former colleague. We were equals, but she often acted like everyone's boss and thus rubbed many people the wrong way. She was what we now refer to as a stereotypical common garden variety everyday Karen. Let's call her Sally. At bare minimum, Sally had an extremely huge opinion of herself, an even more huge fragile ego, no respect for boundaries, zero regard for the word no being a complete sentence and nothing resembling a sense of accountability. All of this only conflated her sense of self and her ability to believe whatever fell out of her mouth. After having a few run-ins with Sally, I later learned, that if her lips were moving, she was either whining about someone/something, lying or both. In this case, she claimed she was a skilled "writer” but her experience went no further than ranting on the Internet. Sally clearly loved being the center of attention, having all eyes on her and being in the spotlight. When asked to actually put her money where her mouth is and prove herself i.e. walk the walk, she was suddenly all thumbs or suspiciously quiet. I found Sally's claims quite suspicious. Despite having a four-year degree in which she majored in business and minored in drama, her writing was so bad it looked like two people had sex on a keyboard and it wrote something. When I tried to coach her and help her improve, she would be extremely resistant to any kind of criticism or gave a lame excuse like: “Do you know how long it's been since I've been out of school?” For clarity, this was a middle-aged woman, with a grown daughter and a high school-aged son. Sally's writing was beyond bad, it was almost indecipherable. She repeatedly mixed up her homonyms and homophones, let alone didn't know the difference between the two, used commas as end punctuation, often misspelled simple grade school-level words, wrote in run-on sentences consisting of only lowercase letters, consistently failed to capitalize proper nouns, etc. That's just the tip of the iceberg regarding the discrepancies with her writing skills. She couldn't even write a simple declarative sentence let alone know what one is. On the extremely rare occasion, when everything in what she had written was spelled correctly, there were usually numerous grammatical errors. When I pointed that out to her, she would spout the tired excuse of: “Well, spellcheck didn't catch it.” I shot back with the example of if she typed the but meant them, of course, spellcheck wouldn't catch it because, you know, it's a word. She refused to accept my logic and accused me of being purposefully mean to her. I reiterate this was a grown, married woman in her late forties with two nearly grown children. Not at all the attitude a professional would have. I haven't even touched upon her lack of creativity or diversity in any story she tried to ’write.’ Every one of Sally's attempts at creating a written work was deathly boring and repetitive drivel i.e. there was never anything resembling a plot, the characters were so two-dimensional they barely even qualified as caricatures, the dialogue was stilted and awkward, descriptions were often too long and full of redundancies that never got to the point, etc. I couldn't even get through the first few pages. Once I implored her to write an outline, take notes, create character bios, etc. She dismissed all of my advice stating those were all things ‘losers’ do then chuckled like an idiot as if she had said the funniest thing ever. Despite having “been at it” longer than me, being nearly 20 years older, Sally was insanely jealous of my talent as well as my ability to relate to even complete strangers. I was barely past legal drinking age when I met her and she was in her mid-forties parading around, with her nose in the air, acting like she was going to be a star in the business world. As anyone knows, having lived through these types of situations, when someone has to go down their life's resume of virtues while extolling all of the qualities we should admire in them, usually that person isn't even worth giving a passing glance. If I only knew then what I know now. Sally sort of adopted me as her "work son” claiming she wanted to show me the ropes. Even though we were in two completely different realms of the industry back then, her plan was to cross-train and expand her skills. She made it seem like it was a you scratch my back and I scratch yours, tit for tat, quid pro quo type of thing. One of many things that became apparent after listening to Sally speak for more than a few minutes: she seemed to have an itch in her mind that she wanted to fast track everything and take the elevator to success. There's no such thing. You have to take the stairs. It turned out she was notorious for using her phony charm to exploit people who had a resource she coveted, while riding their coattails, contributing the bare minimum (if anything at all) to any project she was involved in, then rushing into the spotlight to claim credit for a job well done. Her backstabbing, manipulative behavior rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, which is why she ended up clinging to me: I was the only one who didn't know what she was really like--yet. Cliff notes version: Sally stole my intellectual property, slapped her name on it, rewrote the material (badly) and then tried to pass it off as her own. Had she not been so sloppy about everything and kept her smug, bragging mouth full of tobacco-stained teeth shut, she might have gotten away with it. Two applicable sayings are: "be careful when you burn bridges” and "the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Sally might have won the battle, but when she, without even a second thought, isolated herself by napalming every relationship around her, turning every single person she knew into an enemy, she lost the war. Eventually the truth came out and Sally was left spinning in the wind, hanging over the hole that she had dug for me which turned out to be the grave for her professional career. Everyone professionally connected to her was furious that she had wasted their resources (time, effort and money) on her bad investments. When it came out that the work she had used in her business proposal pitch to everyone wasn't hers but mine, they deserted her at the drop of a hat. Her lack of integrity was apparent, but the shit show she created, proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she was nothing more than a grifter with zero skills and even less talent. Everyone turning their backs on her was the icing on the cake. Who wants to be connected to something that could be a potential source of litigation? In her woefully pathetic attempt to do damage control, she called me up flipping out. It was clear she expected me to accept her impromptu, heavily embellished tale of fiction as irrefutable truth. All I had to do was tell her that I knew everything, that she wasn't the only person I talked to and I knew she had screwed everything up by overstepping her bounds again. I even told her I had seen the e-mails. They didn't exist, but due to her intense paranoia, she believed that I had seen incontrovertible proof in black and white. Hearing that, she completely deflated. It totally derailed her entire one-woman show and she devolved into a simpering mess. Through crocodile tears, she tried hoovering, breadcrumbing and pleading to get me to not "abandon” her like everyone else. I was completely flabbergasted, that she still was trying to act like the victim in a situation she caused. I didn't waiver and responded coldly. I gave her the biggest verbal slapping I had ever given anyone in my life up to that point. She was stunned silent. I told her, in no uncertain terms, that I had all of the documentation proving that my work was my own, that everyone knew what she had done and her reputation preceded her exponentially. I said she was nothing but a lying, thieving, no-talent fraud who would have sold her own children up the river to get what she wanted. I ended the call with: “You see, Sally? I haven't trusted you for quite some time. Now I just don't like you. Get a life. One that doesn't involve me.” Aside from the death of a mutual colleague that she tried to use (as one of her spotlight moments) in her one final attempt to wheedle her way back into my life, I haven't heard from Sally since. It's been over a decade. As it is a small industry, I hear whispers. It should be of no surprise whatsoever, Sally never bounced back after her monumental screw up. She just kept running her small time hustles and cons while heading down her one-way road of self-destruction. Her career is in tatters and her life is a putrid pile of garbage. Knowing her the way I do, she'll never be able to look in the mirror and realize that she did it all to herself. Karma is, indeed, a bitch.

You can bet, when “the customer is always right” guy came asking for my phone, I’d be petty. “Oh man, what happened to your car? Did it break something? Well…did you remember to tell it that, as the customer, you’re always right? Surely it would defy physics because you said so.”

First story: Honestly, bosses that see ChatGTP as a way to get rid of employees is a huge sign that the boss is a cheap micromamanger that would actually demand pay for people to work for him. I'm studying in computacional science and here the discussion of AI replacing people's work is constantly present, I believe that AI has to be seen as a tool to help on work, not as a legally cheap worker.

I had a manager like Dave who insisted on 8-5 (one hour lunch). I was talking to him and his boss when the clock hit 5 pm. I said, "Bye, guys, see you tomorrow." Manager's boss asked why I was going? I explained that manager demanded work end at 5 and it was now 5:01, so toodles, I'll be back tomorrow. There was a bit more flexibility in working hours.

After a decade working for corporate IT for several companies, I can tell you that the first rule of IT isn't "google it", it's CYA.

A minor point but…. The idea of many shooters firing at a single person set before a firing squad is so that only one person has a live round so no one knows who killed the victim. But that’s not the point you’re making; I get that.

Story 2's manager fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

OMG I was just talking about the topic of the first story with a co-worker the other day, just a couple weeks ago. They can't replace the people doing the actual work, and they can't really replace the top leadership. But middle management is pretty much two things: organizing data and distributing workload according to criteria. Those are basically tailor-made tasks for an AI. And on top of being more efficient, instantly delivering results and costing less, they have no biases. I'm actually surprised that it's already happening.

By the way, the ten soldier firing line wasn’t one man being shot by ten men. 9 of those men had blanks and 1 person had the live round. This is to make sure that none of the men actually feel responsible for being the executioner as no one knew who had the live round.

Here's the thing with the "customer is always right" quote. It was chopped in half. The full quote is "the customer is always right in terms of taste.". So if they want to buy something that looks completely ugly, let them do it because it's still a sale. But, stupid people are going to be stupid.

2nd Story if OP got fired for something they were told to do OP could've easily sued the company from being fired the way they were.

Wasn't a malicious compliance, and the guy was extremely reasonable about it. But I have a similar story to the concrete one. I worked at Staples, and we sold desks and shit. One day this guy comes in to buy a desk which is fine. The box stands about 5 to 6 feet tall, about four feet wide, and like four inches deep. We get it rung up, and I use the hand truck to carry it outside. Easy peasy...until we get to his car. It was a 2 door Mercedes sports car. I am not a large man. I am pretty average, but I could not fit in the man's trunk. It wasn't till we got out to his car before he looked and went, "I don't think that's gonna fit." 😂😂😂 We went back inside and ordered it for delivery

Story 3: in one job, they had a pretty bad management, which meant we were always running against the clock to finish the projects, one day i had to stay overtime until around 11 pm, so the next day i oversleep and was at work at 8:30am (my starting time was 8 am) my boss saw me late and scold me and i replied that yesterday i stayed lated more than 5 hours, he said that it didnt matter, that i had to comply with the work schedule, ok, fine by me, that day at 5:30 pm i took my things and say goodbye, everyone look at me shocked, as we were working on a project that was urgent and overtime was necessary, i just said, my schedule is 8 to 5, i stayed 30 min extra to compensate my late entry and left, the next day i make sure to be before 8am, but was standing outside the office, everyone that saw me there asked me "what are you doing?" to what i replied, waiting for the 8am, so i can start working, this went off for 2 or 3 days until my boss went to talk to me and gave me and apology. i didnt stay long at the job, the coworkers where great, but the management was awful

If there is one thing I have learned from listening to every rslash video is always ask for everything in an email. Worked great with the insurance company that was refusing to do their job!

OP of the paper trail story should have consulted with a lawyer about wrongful termination. I bet HR would have been more than willing to work out a settlement, including that idiot manager being let go ASAP. Honestly, as soon as it was brought to HR's attention, they should have automatically reversed the termination and had a chat with that stupid manager to make it clear that OP is not to be messed with.

Dealing with people in hardware sales is a pain. I worked in the paint department in Home Depot. We can only shake paint. A man (customer) asked my coworkers to shake a can of something. I luckily looked over & replied with sorry we can't shake that. The guy rudely asked why? I said, "Sir, it says it flammable on the bottom. .

Second story. If HR saw this folder and knew how to do it's job, it should have taken a ~1 minute cursory glance to the contents before fully firing OP. Put OP on temporary probation before firing it. Because firing OP for how it worked, when most of the issues were direct orders from it's superior is not a good move. Plus, it means you are wasting an employee that is already trained. They did a big disservice to their own company.

Story 4: It's rare you actually see someone own up to their mistakes and not throw blame around in these stories. It's kind of refreshing.

Had a similar incident to the concrete loading one myself: A customer had purchased a buildable bed frame and I was tasked with bringing it out and to assist with loading it. The problem however, was that the box was longer than the passenger compartment of her van. Even knived in between the seats and resting on the center console, there was still a foot left to go. Rather than giving up, she doubled down, insisting that it'll fit if I just pushed harder. I refused to help, so she pushed on the box with all her might and then proceeded to crack her windshield from the inside using the furniture as a battering ram.

The Honda civic story should have made either 2 trips or 3 with about 500lb for 2 trips or 3 with 350 lb. He could have googled it and did some math

I cant comprehend the thought process of the middle manager. Where I worked before, we tried to use technology to make things easier for the people working. You then can have staff both happier and more efficient. More efficient means you can take on more work and the business is more profitable. Take on enough work, and you can hire more people. If you then manage twice the number of people efficiently, you can easily ask for a bonus, better pay, etc. Focus on efficiency, growth, and looking after those under him. Or the other option is this. Manage up. If he loves AI, and used it to automate his own work, that frees up his time to take on more responsibilities of the person above him. Then the owner can possibly look at starting another branch / location. If you are the branch manager, you get paid more then a middle manager. But no, the people he was in charge of looking after, he tries to get them fired. F that guy.

Oh, that 80lb concrete hit me hard! Last week we had brilliant stone masons putting stone on our house. They ran out of the MORTAR mix they were using. My husband was at work, I had the day off. I said ‘no worries, I’ll run up to Lowes and get more!’. Me being an absolute daft prat, didn’t take a photo of the bag. I went in my truck and purchased 4 80pound bags of concrete mix 🤦‍♀️. I weigh 85lbs. Picture me picking up those bags of solid dead weight and putting them in the back of my truck 😂. There were contractors, customers, just staring at me! They offered to help but I said ‘cheers for the offer, I’m good!’, only to get home and realise I got the wrong shite! Went back and returned those for the mortar, 60lbs thank the Lord! I had them unload and load it. I was absolutely stuffed from lifting those 80lb bags. I can’t imagine someone thinking THAT much of the concrete mix would be acceptable in a small vehicle! That’s hysterical 😂😂. I learned the difference between concrete and mortar though so that’s a massive plus. I’m a stubborn Irish lass who learned a very valuable lesson, if someone offers to help I will be answering ‘yes, please!’ And tipping them! My spleen didn’t rupture as I thought it did 🤣🤣🤣.

The saying is. The customer is always right when it comes to fashion. What that actually means is, who are you to tell a customer that wants to spend their money on something ugly that it’s ugly. To the synchronized slaughter thing: that was not to slaughter a person. It was to alleviate soldiers' consciousness because, with so many people firing, nobody knew who actually killed the victim. Usually, only one gun had an actual bullet inside, and nobody knew which for the sake of soldiers' mental well being.

The irony is that a Honda civic CAN definitely handle 12 80 pound bags of concrete. Its just that it cant handle all of that weight in the trunk. Playing men's rugby, we would regularly cram 5 people with an average weight well over 200 lbs plus all of our gear into small sedans and travel hundreds of miles across the country with no issues. Your suspension cant tell if the extra 1000 pounds is from large men or concrete, but it can certainly tell if the weight distribution is utterly fucked. Had the guy loaded all of the concrete bags in the passenger seats, he would have probably been fine

Story 3. Technically those firing squad executions were meant more for the executioner’s wellbeing rather than the spectacle/executed. Only one of the rifles on the squad was loaded with live rounds. All others were blanks. Everyone was randomly assigned a rifle and they all shot at the same time. So no one knew who actually ended up killing the person

Omg I think I had that boss from story 1. Incompetence, wilful ignorance and - when trying to explain something because you don’t yet realise that they don’t care about what is right, only being the authority - the hostile blank stare. 😅 Also had at least a bit of boss 2 but, sadly, no heroic outcomes-focused senior bosses to do away with stupidly rigid 9-5 rules in favour of productivity.

#3: Actually, rSlash, the point of the firing lines was that only 1 person had a live round, everyone else had a blank. This was done randomly. This way, no one knows who actually made the killing shot and and it's less likely for one person to feel guilty afterwards.

Fifth story: One of the phrases that triggers me the most is "the costumer is always right" because that's both a blaitant lie and en encouragement for entitlement and stupidity. People go with the specialist because they either don't know what they are doing or are too lazy to do it, the last thing you should be doing is berate the especialist.

Well aware that cars have weight limits. My Honda CR-Z has the weight limit of the vehicle listed on a sticker inside the door; you can see the sticker when you open it. This little car has a limit (of both passenger and cargo) of a whopping 250 pounds. I knew it was gonna be a disaster the second "1000 pounds" was mentioned. LOL

Story 5: so lemme get this straight: they asked to do something that wasn't safe, you refuse to do it, because it wouldn't damage the product, they insisted, signed a waiver exempting you from any liability, you get a copy as well, and then they try every sleazy tactic in the big book of scammers to screw you out of money? To qoate James "Wow! What an asshole!"

I had a similar story instead of concrete it was stones 1st year working in the summer and these people wanted 296 things of stones but they had a small Suv that can weigh up to 1100 pounds so i was told put in half that was around 50 to 60 i said ok. I was annoyed that she is wasting my time because she had a friend that had a f150 but didn't asked him so after getting around 50 we had to wait for another 15 minutes for him to pull up. So we waited her friend gotten the f150 and her other friend gotten the rental truck and we had a forklift and a driver so we gotten all of that over with so i did more carts because I'm the only loader and the other guy had gotten fired but that is another story for another day but so during my break that lady came back piss looking for me because her car couldn't take the weight and had to stop half way from her house to unload to the pickup truck, but my lucky friend who I'm still friends with told her I had went home and couldn't find me but yeah I was just following orders getting it done and not once did she told me how much her car weigh but yeah she told him her car could weigh up to 1100 or 1500 pounds but it all came up to 6000 pounds but yeah now I always ask how much can your car weigh up to. So yeah if your getting stuff from Lowe's or Home depot do your research of the weight of your cars and how heavy the products because most of don't know a damn thing about your car.

Working as a Pro Loader at Home Depot your car has to be grossly tiny to recognize immediately that it can’t fit only 12 bags of 80lb concrete

My uni provided a free course in Azure. It sure was interesting. I guess Rslash doesnt know this but with an Azure account, you can literally work on the software for an actual friggin satellite. Although in my training course, we were taught how to make the AI trainer recognize puppies from kittens, then tasked to make it recognize whatever we asked with literally anything not that. I tried to do Predators but that was hard. Then tanks .also more than I can chew. Anyway, large parts of the training is automated in Azure, all you really need to do is steal a set of images from google photos in a sensible way for your task.

Story 2: maybe I'm missing something here, but why would this person not just go to HR or the boss above the scummy boss with their email evidence BEFORE they got fired? Why actually implement changes they KNEW were wrong by company standards instead of just asking a more senoir person if the changes this person is making is the new company policy?

For story #2, she wasn’t worried about a paper trail because you can delete e-mails. Pretty sure people like this exist as a single brain cell hive mind and anytime someone says e-mail, that triggers the escape function. No thoughts after that.

How was OP in story 2 fired after proving that nothing was their fault?

I loved my last job with the flexibility built in. It was during COVID so most of us went to remote work from home. I would get the late afternoon boost that would sometimes overlap into the evening. Or I would have to babysit a deployment that we always performed after hours. We were very efficient and everything got done on time. So if I started a little late one day or took off early, or took a break in the middle of the day my management did not care. We would always put in the 40 hours a week. Management was happy because the work got done on time and with a minimum of mistakes. We were happy because we were treated like people instead of just some cogs in the machine. I am retired now.

I used to be a loader myself. I was waiting for a customer with a washing machine, and they pulled up in a Corola, and got mad when I told them it wouldn't fit, and even madder when I refused to tie it to the roof

I’m not claiming to be a paradigm of virtue when it comes to the perfect human being, but I cannot believe hearing these stories that just exemplify avarice, laziness and overall arrogance of human beings mostly individual basis, but seems to be that at least once in everybody’s life, you’ll encounter one of these people SMH
