I had a boss years ago (I was her personal assistant) who was reform Jew. (Sweetest lady, stereotypical Jewish grandma.) I lived (and still do) in San Antonio, TX, so around the holidays, tamales are everything. The office building we were in hosted a big Christmas buffet the Friday before Christmas and she insisted (in spite of the fact I was trying very hard to stay on a diet, I mentioned she was a stereotypical Jewish grandma, right) I go get something. Agreed. Just not 100% While most bacon sold is pork bacon, you can also get bacon that comes from other animals. I've actually had duck bacon before, which to me tasted pretty much like regular bacon 😅, which was still good, but nothing special. Plus most Jewish delis sell beef bacon, which is quite delicious also, but to me just tastes like pastrami. And of course there's also turkey bacon. My point being bacon is not always pork. But most people assume you mean pork when you ask for bacon, unless stated otherwise. But in this case the Karen got exactly what she asked for. The picture on social media was just the icing on the amazing cake known as KARMA. Also, I know there's a chance no one will read this, but on the off chance that anyone does. Ah, it reminds me of the story I was told by a history professor. There used to be (and still are) people born so priviliged and blinkered they did not know the meat served to them came from once living animals. Because the words for the meats (venison from deer, pork from pigs, beef from cows, etc) were different, they could not connect the meal to the animal. Granted, these were mostly the kinds of priviliged rich people who did not, themselves, hunt for sport.

I had one gentleman who didn't know that salami was made from pork. To be fair, he wasn't a native speaker, and I also didn't know his faith until he mentioned it in passing and I felt gut-punched. But the poor guy was absolutely horrified that the meat he absolutely loved from the deli was, in fact, forbidden by his religion. At least his "sin" was pure accident, not entitled snobbery. I don't know what he had to do to cleanse any taint from the unclean meat though.
@@Silverserri There are beef and kosher salamis. They aren’t as common, but are there. For the most part common salamis are made with pork. Just don’t buy beef bacon, it is just a poor grade of pastrami at a price higher than a good grade of pastrami. Actually, I haven’t seen it sold for years.

I saw a Commander who's wife got him busted down to 2nd lieutenant after she went on a drunken joyride on base. She caused about $50,000 of damages when she took out a guard shack and rammed into a aircraft tow vehicle. She was fleeing from base security, and was screaming threats of how her husband would court martial them when they arrested her. When the base command court martial'd him his career was destroyed. He resigned his commission and divorced her, but he got custody of their two sons.

Story one: one story i read stands out of a karen ruining her family’s life by wearing her husband’s and eldest daughter’s rank wherever she went , she basically got both of them discarded due to her disgusting behavior, and then lied to her husband’s family to get both of them in trouble just for laughs, it didn’t end well for her when he divorced her and left her with nothing
First story: I was raised in the military have spent the better part of the past 50 years in and around the military and I can confirm that the service member (enlisted or officer) is in fact responsible for the actions of their dependents. This means that if their spouse or children are causing trouble they can face a non-judicial punishment for not maintaining good order and discipline. If they are stationed outside the United States, the family can be kicked out of the country and usually if that happens, the service member has to remain where they are so the family is sent home without them. In extreme cases, the member is kicked out but there is so much more that goes with that, up to and including incarceration with bread and water rations, reduction in rank and pay and a dishonorable discharge. The US Military has the ability to really mess up the lives of their people if they need to and yes, all of this can come from the actions of you spouse and kids. Many of those who grow up in the military environment who choose not to serve never quite understand why their parents were so strict growing up. Well, this is why. Kids do stupid stuff all the time in the US with little to no consequences but in the military where your parents can and will be held accountable for the actions of their kids, they are going to be strict because they dont wont their career and life messed up because of them. As for the statement the colonel made about Karen wearing her husbands rank, that is a very real thing. I have lost count of the number of times I herd the statement "You know who my husband is?" from would be Karens. The military really frowns on this and the spouse is typically notified quickly that it is happening so they can curb it because it could easily lead to disciplinary measures being taken. I've watch Flag Officers (Admirals/Generals) divorce their spouse over it. Its that serious.
@@rustyjones7908 it didn't suck as much as you might think. It was just our reality. We grew up with discipline and understood how things were. I lived on military bases a good part of the time that were rather strict but also had really good amenities. We didn't need our parents with us to go to the pool or movies or arcade or anything else the base has to offer. Yes we had rules but we also had a freedom most kids don't have. And getting to see the world was awesome. The only real downside were when my dad was on a long deployment and we didn't see him for up to a year. Other than that, I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything. I'm not saying there weren't troubled kids, especially teens, that's on the parents though and the military rarely went instantly to the extreme. Often times when we were in another country, trouble makers were sent back to stay with family before they could do real damage or the parent would request a transfer in order to save their career.

I was a young E-3 in a Pediatric Clinic. A pilot's wife came late for an appointment and immediately had an attitude, not letting me explain that we would walk her child in, but it would take a little bit. She was very loud and demanding. The doctor her child was seeing called me, said he would see them. I was miffed, but continued professionally. About an hour later her husband came in and apologized to me. The doctor was the hospital commander and never let his staff get abused.
This is a big oversimplification of it, but in the US military, servicemembers are responsible for their families' conduct to some extent. This Karen's action of "wearing her husband's rank" and bullying other servicemembers is one of the worst things for his career.

It's same in India. Daughter of an ex-Airmen here. An Assamese family living in our upstairs quarter bullied us out of jealousy (we are Bengali). The reason of their jealousy? I got more attention as a Bharatnatyam dancer more than her daughter as I was in it longer than her as well. Naturally, I was included in the cultural activities more too. Which is why they targetted us. They would dump turmeric on our clothes line, ruin my mom's garden, and make noises upstairs after 12pm on school nights. Their daughter even threw rocks at my pet kitten, Smoky. One time, the Airmen himself caused some issues too after he was caught drinking with guests over after 10pm in his quarter with kids around by an officer. Soon, a complained was filed with AFWWA, and the wife of AOC (in-charge of AFWWA) took matters into her own hands. They were kicked out of the base & sent to A&N Islands. They checked the records, and were kicked to some other base again, lol.
Story 1: "Did she threaten to knock you down to private?" So this Karen has a reputation, lol. So funny when the Colonel chewed her out. That's what you get for trying to wear your spouse's rank. It’s true about service members being liable for their spouse’s actions, and it’s the same with their kids. I grew up going to school on Air Force bases, and the kids who did really messed up things sometimes ended up costing their parents promotions.
My great uncle was sadly kicked out of the Army when his first wife went to his posting and raised hell demanding to see him. Thankfully he divorced her (not soon enough) and the woman he's now married to is an angel.
This is so awful.. I could never behave like this, in any of my husbands workplaces.. I've always bought him lunch to his work, and always baked goods for his fellow workers.. Never would I shame him, nor embarrass him, anywhere.. Same with my kids.. You can't behave like an ahole and then expect respect from others.. I can't stand people like this!! It annoys me to no end that employers schedule their employees to end their shift at closing time. Why would you do this when you know they have to CLOSE THE STORE. Employees don’t just get to leave.
In case they want the employee(s) finishing at closing time, there are 2 things that can happen. Either you start closing and setting up for the next day beforehand so that you will be ready to clock out and leave. In this case you simply won't serve customers. Otherwise, you simply clock out at closing time, don't do any cleaning/set-up and leave. In both cases the consequences will be a wake-up slap for the manager/employer, and if not, you simply are working at the wrong place.
Story 1: my dad is a Retired 30 year Chief MSgt, USAF. (He retired when I was in my mid-20s.) One of his favorite stories, from when he was a young enlisted member, was the base commander started hearing complaints about officers' wives trying to wear their husbands' ranks. He sent out a base wide order that every married officer was to have their spouses at the base movie theater on a particular morning at something like 0900. As all these women, some with their children, came in he asked them to arrange themselves by rank. His own wife and daughters were sitting right up front. (They had been there before anyone else.) After they were all sitting, he thanked them all for their time and then informed them that he had a very serious and important message for them. "YOU HAVE NO RANK! YOU BEHAVIOR WILL IMPROVE OR IT WILL AFFECT YOUR HUSBAND! DISMISSED!" He then walked out to stunned silence, followed by his wife and daughters. (They already knew what was coming.) Moral improved significantly.
Pork story: I bet that Karen finally realized just how foolish she looked and was desperate for it to end. Of course she's going to feel like she's the victim somehow, as opposed to realizing that she was being obnoxious. But oh well, at least she got a healthy dose of humiliation in her life.
There was a Chief Warrant Officer 4 at the first post I was sent to after training. He was gung ho, played rugby on weekends and his catch phrase was "Too many chiefs and not enough indians." One day I was alone in the shop office when he walked in, froze, looked at me and said: "What are you doing?" and I replied "I'm an indian, talk to me." He could not say anything because I was right. Now he hated me even more than he did before.
It's true regarding service personnel. My dad was a corporal in the R.A.F and never rose above that rank because my mum refused to kowtow to the 'higher ups'. She had a message sent home via my dad regarding her behaviour. The 'higher up was the Flight Lieutenant (medical officer). So, she made an appointment to see him. Went in and told him she needed diazepam for her nerves. When he asked why she needed it, she told him that his message made her stressed, and that if he had a problem with her, he should speak to her directly and NOT send messages home via her husband. She then went on to tell him that if ANY of their conversation was reported to her husband or anyone else, she would have him up before the medical board for violating patient confidentiality. He wrote her a script for diazepan, she left, and flushed them down the loo when she got home.
I bet I know what happened with the Karen on the last story! I have some friends from Saudi Arabia who have grown up their whole lives eating BLT sandwiches and bacon cheeseburgers, but they were all made with beef bacon. Story1: yep. Any active duty service member/officer is held accountable for their "dependents" actions. Meaning they need to keep their house in order and following the rules or their career can be over.
It's more than just enlisted, it's officers too. And wearing a spouse's rank is even worse for anyone with a commission. Officers are held to a higher standard of conduct, meaning any inappropriate conduct has the potential to leave an officer stuck at their rank (leading to mandatory retirement) or demotion/discharge.
The military slang term for people like that is dependapotamus, not to be confused with the dependa which is just a shortened version of a dependant. Dependapotamus Traditionally a service-members dependent who is a "stay at home mom" that doesn't do a damn thing all day besides sitting on the couch looking remarkably similar to jabba the hut leaching off of military benefits and eating anything that gets too close. "Dude what the hell is that on your couch?" "Thats my wife!" "You need to do something with that dependapotamus."
Story 1: My (then) husband decided to go back in the military after getting his degree and being in ROTC. This meant he'd be an officer. I explained to him I supported his career choice but I would not be participating. He could be stationed wherever and our daughter and I would be "home" . 1. I'd been in the military 2. I had my own career. Prior to his first deployment I was "invited" to "tea" with all the officers wives. He gave me the lecture about officers wives thinking their husbands rank transferred to them. I opted out.
First story: In the military the person in the military is 100% responsible for their dependents, children and partner. The military has no authority over non members, so the members are the ones that get the full force of the consequences that the dependent would have.
Story 1, yep, if you’re in the military and your spouse is not…you’re responsible for their actions. I divorced my husband because he kept bouncing checks and I was getting in trouble for it.
Friend of mine is the personal assistant of a high ranking officer, and his superior too is BEYOND strict when it comes to familly members abusing the position of their family member's rank, every time someone achive a certain rank or above, he sits them down and tells them "YOU are responsible for the actions of your family members if they try to use your rank, and I will bust you down to lower than private if they do, so MAKE SURE you lecture them NOT to use YOUR rank".
re. the last story, I had something similar happen but in a light-hearted, everyone laughed at the end way. I am Canadian. I took German as a foreign language in a class in Germany. We were telling 'what I did for my vacation' stories. I was trying to talk about how I saw a moose while camping. It turns out, there is no word for moose in German. The dictionary translates it to 'Elch' but that is the word for elk, a related but different animal. I tried explaining the problem to the teacher, who kept insisting that Elch was the correct word, while I kept insisting it couldn't be because an elk is different. This was in the earliest days of public internet, and no one had cell phones so we couldn't just google and pull up images. Finally, the teacher said 'but I know German better than you' I agreed, but also noted that I knew Canadian wildlife better than him. We both paused, had a laugh and ultimately created the word 'large-Canadian-elk' to discuss moose (and yes, in German that is all one word with no hyphens). The next day, the teacher, to his credit, came in with books to confirm that an elk is an elk and a large-Canadian-elk is a moose. We all had another good laugh.

Yes, it’s true. A military service member can and more often than not IS held responsible for a spouses poor behavior, which can adversely affect their career. Because of this, it can be a social minefield on base, particularly among officers wives. Some of the more Karen-like of them do what my hubs(USN) also refers to as “wearing your husbands rank”. He despises this and as a result kept me far away from the base and base politics, despite the fact that it would’ve been very beneficial for us both socially and financially. But I worked at Starbucks, and I could code switch with the best of them. He shouldn’t have worried. I still get along with the officers wives I encounter better than he does their husbands.

I have a good friend who retired from the military. She has some great stories about her time, many enjoyable. You see, she was involved with the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA) that does Renaissance reenactments and such. One thing about her was she was well liked as I played in a video game that 2 servicemen were acquainted with her. My friend had enlisted after college, her MOS got her acknowledged by her superior officer to go back to school for an advanced degree. She stayed in the reserves. On one weekend she got promoted to Master Sergeant then the next to Captain. She had finished a medical degree so jumped the higher sargeant ranks and both lieutenant ranks. She retired as a full Colonel. Full of good stories and some bad.
2nd story: Reminds me of James Shiba from History's Mightiest Disciple. One time, he made a deal with Akisame Koetsuji, saying who's ever disciple(Kenichi or Takeda fighting each other) loses this one match, the mentor had to shave off their own mustache. When Takeda lost, James took a razor, shave like 7 small strands of hair off of his mustache, then said "There, I'm done shaving!!!!!" Then he bolted out of the Dojo before Akisame could do anything about it.
First story has some holes anyone with military experience would recognize. Example, you don't normally salute when entering an office because you're not normally wearing your cover indoors unless on official special duty.
For story one, it is very true. Your military spouse/parent is liable for all the things their civilian partner/kids actions. That is why so many dependas (what the military call spouse who rely on their military partner) are looked down on. Lots of them pull this not just with others of rank but also at the base grocery stores, base hospitals, basically any place on base they pull it.
One of my family members use to be married to a karen who tried to bully others with his rank and let her kid (his step son) steal from the commissary. Stealing from a base is the biggest NONO any kid could really do. My cousin did get knocked down in rank and divorced her almost immediately after he was demoted. Karen was lucky she got a warning.
Story 1: As prior military myself, I can 100% attest to the validity of that story. As a general sense of the stereotypes, Officers/high ranking NCO's (usually 1SG+) wives are all in the Family Readiness Group (FRG) and are ubermega Karen's, senior NCO's (SSG-SFC) creep on the new soldiers to the unit, and if a male junior enlisted gets married it's usually to a stripper or a dependapotamus. There are outliers, but those might as well be unicorns.
I heard of one instance where an officer's wife parked in a space reserved for flag officers, unaware that "flag officer" means "Rear Admiral or higher." As her husband was not any sort of Admiral, that did not go over well.
Story 1: You're on the mark. If your partner causes enough trouble, YOU will have to face the consequences in the military. It's just too much of a risk if you have someone throwing their weight around who doesn't have it. even then, in this case, the Karen sounds like, what some in military circles call, a Dependapotamus. all she has is her husbands rank to go on. she's probably done this MANY TIMES and this is the biggest time it's backfired OR her husband finally let her go
As a military brat, I can say anything you do can affect your parent’s job. Especially if you’re living overseas, we knew a family where the kid ( high school age) had burned the house down. The local gov didn’t like that so had the family moved back to America, the parents were not pleased.
As a retired veterans of the US Army. Technically the soldier is not completely responsible for the actions of family members. Note I said technically. In reality if an officer or enlisted wife pulls crap it reflects negatively on the officers or enlisted's career. On top of that many senior officers wives try to "wear" their husbands rank (unfortunately some get away with it.) BUT i have been in some commands where they try this and it ends badly for the officer. As an enlisted I disliked Officers wives so I made sure to steer clear of them.

Military story: One of the biggest cardinal sins a military spouse can have is to act as if they actually have the authority of their spouse's rank. They do NOT! This can cause a world of hurt to both the actual military person and the spouse. The spouse can lose privileges at the base exchange/px or even be refused on-base privileges. The military person faces non-judicial punishment, restriction from the base except for when on duty, possible loss of pay and/or rank. And a transfer to a VERY UNdesirable duty post is possible as well. Most military personnel make it very clear to their spouses that this is not allowed, but there are always some that try to push the issue. I learned to drive and navigate in the days long before GPS using paper maps and taking note of landmarks. I rarely went wrong. My wife and I used to go out and "get lost" going down roads we hadn't been on before, just to see where they went. It wasn't too long before going down a strange road was no longer a big deal because we knew we'd eventually hit a road we did know. I’m not a military person (I have friends and relatives that were/are in the survise Meereen’s navy and army) and from what they told me this is sadly common and wife/girlfriend doesn’t know that it can be a detriment to there husband or boyfriend military career

You just know the first several replies from her, were just her yelling at her own family members that she was eating "bacon" and _not_ "pork" and to "learn the difference."
I've always had a goatee. I started working for a security company that required employees to be clean shaven. I however worked at a satellite post that wasn't customer facing so I kept my beard. Other officers complained about me but my boss gave me leeway since I didn't interact with clients. One day the position of lieutenant opened up so I applied. My boss did a 180 and handed me a razor telling me if I wanted the promotion he wanted to see hair on it. He gave me the promotion and I shaved the edges of my goatee handing back the razor with hair on it. He laughed and admitted defeat.
When it comes to story 1, I would want to shake Colonel Stone's hand and thank him for his service to this country. And also tell him that I'm glad that there are a lot of people who don't put up with entitled peoples attitudes
two points regarding the karen whose husband is in the military. The husband isn't responsible for the acts of his wife. Havings said that, the husband (major) can be chewed out for what his wife is doing. His boss the Colonel, can't demote someone for that. He can, however, give him lousy assignments, bad reviews and so on. The second point and i could be wrong about this, is that when a colonel or someone in the military has an assistant, i highly doubt the assistant salutes their boss every time they enter the room. It would become cumberson and inefficient and i highly doubt either the either one of them would want to do so more than once or twice a day. For example, for air force pilots in the pilot section of the base, no one solutes unless someone is a full colonel or above.
I had a guy tell me how vegan he was getting his little frappuccino and I told him that the caramel drizzle contained dairy. He didn’t believe me and told me I was wrong. He was such a karen
Military spouses being put in their place for wearing their husband's rank are my favorite stories. I have a few military friends and have been told that it happens a lot, often with no repercussions for the entitled spouse. Some of the wives are insufferable.
It would have been better to refuse the note: it’s not printed on paper with a company header, doesn’t fit a standardized framework, has no means for authentication, and crucially it doesn’t carry the signature of the person “requesting” overtime - where’s the request paperwork?
That's what entitled military wives like this Karen don't understand, they are an active danger to their husbands' military careers and many times those husbands are going to divorce them instantly when they realize their own livelihood and rank is on the line.
first story: when Colonel Stone said did the Karen threat you to knock you down to Private at that moment that told me this Karen it well know threat other officer around the base and heard the other office count down I laugh and also she out here ruin her husband rate and if I was her husband I would divorce her or banned her from the base cause he the one going get in trouble and then the guy did divorce her cause he said she going destroy my career did the right thing
I used to watch a RU-vidr called scrubs, until he retired his RU-vid career he used to make a 12 days of scrubs video that was his compilations of his favourite stories from that year with different themes for 12 days like one day it would be about karens the next it would be crazy high school pranks ect, ect. I think its a cool idea because it would show memories of that year in an extra long video.

As per your story about Karen and the full bird Colonel, any service member from E-1 through O-10 general is fully responsible for their spouse or significant others and family.
Officer's wives demanding to be treated based on their husband's rank always backfired. My wife (me, a junior enlisted at the time) told a senior NCO ordering her to move her car to "Report her to her chain of command, oh wait, I am a civilian...fuck off" I had a talk with the CSM, he backed her up The flip-side: A LTC's wife managed to so alienate every wife in his command that they all refused to attend any Family Readiness Group meeting she was a part of. When asked why she wasn't part of the FRG, she lost her cool and ranted for an hour about how they were all ******************* He was passed over for promotion, repeatedly. He was an amazing leader, she ended up banned from post and hurt his career to the point that he had to retire 2 (or more) grades below what he should have I cannot express more clearly; He was amazing. A genuine leader that literally spent money out of his own pocket during OIF2 so his soldiers had SAT phone time to call family (close to $25,000) and his wife was so evil that he couldn't be promoted because they were dealing with hundreds of lawsuits I would have charged the gates of hell with a bucket of gasoline for this Officer. His wife ruined a brilliant career
I haven't seen a wife wearing the husband's rank. I have been berated for asking a woman who is not disabled if she could park in a non-disabled spot literally behind her (i was on parking duty.) I saw her parking, but didn't see a disabled placard or symbol on the license plate, so I asked her if she realized it was a disabled space. She said she had a tag on her license plate. I double checked and they had a vanity cover that was partially obscuring the "disabled veteran" section on the plate. I asked what branch she had been in. She huffed and told me it was her husband's plate. I asked if this meant that she was not disabled, and she confirmed it. So I again asked if she could park in the empty space directly behind her and leave the disabled space open for a disabled person. She got upset and started ranting about how her husband served and was wounded to get the plate -to which, I said I was appreciative and he should certainly use it... but she had told me herself she wasn't disabled and I asked that she extend that same courtesy her husband deserved to others. She refused and said that she was entitled to use the plate and the space. ...I wish I could say I gave her a ticket, or that I told her husband... sadly, this woman was just allowed to have her way...
Here in Austria people looove their titles! What I never understood was that the wives were also greeted in their husband’s titles, even they never studied for it themselves or earned it. Like “this is mrs. Dipl. Ing. Blabla” “nice to see you mrs. Direktor” “mrs. Dr. Bla bla”. Even on old gravestones you can see the engravings of titles next to women’s names. But it’s not popular anymore thank the day!
Maps guy story: does everyone just have a sister that can't use gps right? Granted, mine at least always plugged in the right destination. She just couldn't follow the directions. GPS: in a quarter mile, turn right! Sister: turns right onto the road infront of us and gets frustrated when it reroutes us
It's on her if she can't follow directions properly, especially the part that says in two furlongs (equivalency: 1/4 mile) make the turn instead of turn immediately.
I think a lot of the military centered stories Rslash does has someone or OP bring up the rule that the soldier is responsible for their family's actions and they if it gets bad with they can actually get removed from the service. Especially the Karen's that think they can wave around their spouse's rank as a threat
I had a girlfriends family came to my base to visit. The father was an ignorant civilian and was joking with the guards and said he was a general. As soon as I saw them I ripped them a new one.
Probably because Karen doesn't *want* to know. She thinks she can claim she's keeping halal by not eating pork if she doesn't consciously recognize bacon as being pork by default.
I'm not Muslim and even I know bacon is from pig. I'm also amazed how many don't know the 'slime' on spam is pork fat from softer parts of the pig- not a mystery substance.
ALL Military personal are responsible for their on base family members at all times. The Major could have been 100% been disciplined for his now Ex-Wife's actions. Civilians are Civilians no matter who they're married to.
Story 1 is fake. It doesn’t even work that way. An officer doesn’t get busted down to private. At least not in that context. The whole exchange doesn’t even make sense. Yeah this is one of those weird urban legends that don’t exist in the real world. Whoever submitted that story has never been on base at all much less in the military in real life.
