I delivered pizza part time (not my regular job of course), which was mainly "tip-driven income". However drivers were supposed to be compensated for fuel expenses by the restaurant. I began to suspect that the restaurant wasn't really contributing, but claiming they did, by doctoring the books. So I decided to test my theory. First of all, the law says that any employee who doesn't make their expected weekly wages because of low tips, that the employer must pay them the difference. I saw my paycheck came up short, plus the fact that fuel allowance wasn't being included. So the next week, I told my customers (who only used credit cards - no cash) to not tip me at all, because it wasn't going to me. The restaurant was taking it. So I made sure the customers wrote a big fat zero in the tip section of their ticket. The manager was surprised, and asked why there were no tips. I told him I instructed the customers not to tip me. I want to make sure the restaurant couldn't hide from their obligations to make up the salary difference, or their obligation to pay for my mileage. (even though they include a "delivery fee" to the price of their pizzas). The restaurant found an excuse to fire me, but I spread the word about their crooked system. In fact, I'm spreading it now, by posting this comment.

I have a story!!! It’s r/EntitledParents. I was going on a walk with my mom and my dog. My dog is a brown female standard poodle (which ranged from $300 to $4,000) named Maci. She was almost I’d say... 2 years old? Standard poodles are pretty big, almost as big as the king poodle, the biggest kind of poodle. We spent over $3,000 to get this poodle for her.” EK: “Daddy, get me the puppy NOW!” ED: “I will (EK’s name). Your mutt isn’t a service or emotional support animal. You cannot do this!” Officer: *_Cuffs ED and puts in the backseat of cop car, having him call his wife to pick up EK._* We thanked the officer and went straight home, not wanting any trouble. We took Maci to the vet to have an X-ray on her legs. Luckily, there was only some damage, but it healed in a span of 2 weeks. I hope you enjoyed this story! Right now, Maci is snuggling with me :3

Doing extra work thinking that the management will notice and consider you for promotion is a big mistake. The managers are happy to have one person do the work of two employees but not for any extra pay. I use uber a lot and I would never try and tell the driver which route to take.

HOLD UP, I was in the same exact situation as the guy in the first one, I worked at a Major, blue hardware store in my town and we were known as the unwanted child in our region. Sales were way down and the employee turn over rate was insane. We were so understaffed that they expected me to do the same things as managers when I was only paid slightly higher than minimum wage. Sooo I naturally didn’t do the things they asked past what I was payed to do. Just so happened that the regional manager and the new owner was at the store the same day, long story short me and a few coworkers were complaining about how the store is failing and the managers are not doing their jobs correctly as the RM and the owner walked past. The next few months we saw managers disappearing and new managers popping up in our store. And the store was slowly turning out a little better before I quit. If it sounds a little jumbled up sorry, If you guys want I can put the whole story up on reddit and explain the whole thing

Not sure if it's the case, but here in Argentina (and I assume in other Spanish speaking countries) "eating someone's brain" or "eating someone's head" is a very common phrase for situations like that. The poison ivy story reminds me of something that happened to me. Fortunately, my manager was a really nice lady. I had gotten sick just before Halloween one year. While I got over the cold after a few days, afterwards I broke out in watery blisters all over my face, neck and arms. I explained over the phone about what happened to me and my manager was really nice about giving me a day off to go to the doctor about my blisters. My doctor gave me some meds to help dry them up. I worked in a pharmacy, so I stopped by to get my meds and also popped in to say Hi to my manager. She took one look at me and gasped "Oh My God!" I smiled and asked about having a few more days off. I didn't think the customers would like me oozing all over the merchandise. My manager agreed and told me to go home and get better. No wonder I worked for this lady for 20 years!!
