I thought I had heard about Pastor Bob's story before. It's still a good one, no worries! I'm just amazed how Pastor Bob stiffed the technician over a $60 job when he had several tens of thousands at his disposal. I guess when you're that greedy, you want to steal every penny. Hmmm... a pastor who is afflicted with greed and lust - who would have thought!
Seriously lol, pretty sure I’ve heard all of his videos multiple times already 😂 I’m a heavy equipment operator with an actual working radio in my dozer, 12 hours being on a dozer, I can listen to a lot 😂
True this is a repeated story, but Reddit is rife with people stealing other people's content and reposting it for attention. There are a couple of stories that rSlash has on his videos that are repeats, but from different posters (I rewatch rSlash videos when I'm doing something) and one or two details changed.
Story 1: I bet Pastor Bob would've still had his job and reputation if just DIDN'T scam OP and the roof fixers. Though I bet he would've still gotten sued by the roof guys anyway.
The fact that the principal did nothing about the thefts, charged the students to change lock combinations and deliberately obstructed investigations by not letting anyone check the cameras, makes me seriously think he was also in the scheme... it's a shame it can't be proven and he just lost his job.
@@firesong7825 and if thats the case then there was probably some kind of black mail or something preventing him from telling everyone and stuff, that or hes just a moron who cant deal with confrontation as ya know the principal not jimmy down the hall no the literal guy who should deal with it
Could have also known/suspected the locker theft was not the locker owners' fault but saw this as a way to cash in on the student's misfortune by allowing the thefts to occur then charging said students to change the locker combo. I am seriously curious if the principle for some reason was able to make a profit off this (either through getting a cut of the price to replace the locks or via bonuses for generating "revenue"). Either way, the principle was either a greedy idiot that thought he couldn't be caught/punished or he was a regular idiot that actually thought this was the students' fault, in either case he clearly wasn't smart enough to run a school as principle.
It's going to be hell for him, trying to find another job. One background search reveals that he has intentionally obstructed a criminal investigation and been successfully sued by a class action lawsuit. Nobody will hire this moron.
2nd Story: I'm willing to bet the principal was in on it, you don't fight a warrant like that when you know there is a crime spree unless you have something to gain by blocking the investigation. He's lucky he only lost his job, he got away with it
Just a heads up for my favorite Reddit voice: the way how “class” is phrased here in the second story indicates he’s talking about the legal class action (wherein those seeking relief are referred to collectively as the “class”), not his own individual school classroom, thus no need for the x4 multiplier. Therefore, the 18k result is probably the correct one. I can’t confirm fully of course, but that’s some legalese for you.
Had a kid steal my graphing calculator middle school. I kept asking if I could have it back, he said "no, it's mine" so I again asked him if he really wanted to do that, and he denied again. So, I went to the teacher and told what was going on, he initially insisted that it was his calculator until I told the teacher that I had scratched my initials into the battery cover. Sure enough, there were my initials. I got my calculator, he got ISS.
THere's an invisible ink pen you can buy that can only be seen with a black light. I tag all of my expensive belongings with it if it's ever stolen, because cops know this trick and can help you get your stuff back. I know a graphing calculator is obviously different, but just thought I'd throw that out there :)
@@RemziCavdar hey there, it means In School Suspension. You can't be in class but you can't leave the school either. It's basically detention during school hours, you just go sit in a room with all the other troublemakers.
@@RemziCavdar In School Suspension. It's detention during school hours, you sit in a separate classroom at desks facing the wall (or at least you did 11 years ago), you eat in that classroom and if you have to use the bathroom, a teacher or monitor had to escort you to make sure you'd come back. It was basically what came before OSS (out of school suspension) on the punishment scale.
Story 2: Imagine being this much of a kleptomaniac. If Dave just DIDN'T steal so much, he wouldn't have to pay so much money and sit in prison. And if the school just DIDN'T brush aside the thefts, the principal would still have his job and the school wouldn't be paying so much money. This is why you don't steal.
I wonder if the principal was in on it. How could you be so stupid you think HUNDREDS of locker thefts are all due to 'sharing combinations'? How could you NEVER check the cameras for any of them? Even if I shared my locker combination, that doesn't mean it's okay for someone to steal from my locker!
no no no the problem is that Dave was a greedy scumbag if he had stolen a few pens and then maybe sold it for a quick buck to the people that lost their pens he would have gotten a decent amount of money and they would be no reason for anyone to suspect him but he just had to be greedy and steal a laptop and calculators (Which i guess were expensive)
@@goku-sangreen4510 Yeah, Dave and his mom were DEFINITELY greedy! 🤣🤣 And you're right. If they hadn't continued stealing and if they hadn't taken such valueable items, they might have gotten away with it!
Second story: I think the reason the school first fought back the warranty for the CCTV recordings, and them the director got mad about Dave and his mother being arrested, is that they probably didn't wanted to stop whoever was committing that spree of thefts so they could keep cashing on changing locker combinations; For me $150 to change a combination is also pretty overpriced, back in my old school we didn't had combination but keys on our lockers, but still a replacement wasn't as near as $150 bucks, not even R$150 (I'm from Brazil); Instead those idiots got a student and a employee charged with years in prison, and I feel the school paid even more than RSlash calculated, because they probably paid a even bigger extra in attorney's fees besides the one already taken from the $85 everyone got after they got taken from each restitution.
@@H-to-O Yeah, they should have calculated attorneys fees into the amount the defendants owed so that everyone would have gotten their money back. But I’d still be happy getting a little less back and knowing that those assholes got what was coming to them. That principal really should have got hit on charges though. I find it very hard to believe that he had no knowledge of what was going on, especially if there was so much surveillance footage.
I think Dave's admin mom blackmailed/bribed other higher-ups to keep silent. I imagine some of the wealthier parents sued the school for the money and egregious mishandling of the theft problem (and maybe poor treatment of the kids), so the school paid far more in damages than Rslash's calculations
because it happened around 2003-2004. 72k back then and inflated to today's currency, the school paid 112k dollars after attorney fees. I can't think how much usually schools get in funding, but it a chunk
I wonder what Dave’s plan was for all this stuff? He probably couldn’t sell it in such a tiny town, since I’m pretty sure anyone willing to buy would be the ones stolen from. Probably why there was so much evidence still piled up in his room when the nabbed him.
I love how that the community for this channel is so consistent in watching his content that a lot of us realized that rSlash already covered the first story, and are now gushing about how much we love this fact.
also i had a hat stolen from me and i typically wouldnt be to upset but it was a knitted hat that my mom had made for me cause it was cold so i was pretty friggin upset and i still dont have it, so to the a-hole who stole my book and hat go suck an egg and i hope you trip every morning you wake up
I absolutely love how the school tried to deny the problem and got absolutely owned. Maybe they should’ve listened to the students, would’ve made things a lot easier if they just took students seriously instead of trying to legally fight the police every step of the way. Really hope all the students get refunds because the school unfairly charged them £150 every single time for locker changes, because the school DESERVES that class action suit, completely ridiculous.
Locker story reminds me of my high school. When I was in 9th grade, they started issuing school locks to everyone. Had a key hole on the back so the school could go into your locker whenever they wanted to "search for contraband" Fine, whatever, I was a boring kid who never brought weapons or drugs to school. But, some classmates worked in the office, stole the master key from the desk and made copies. My stuff kept getting stolen and they were vandalizing what they didn't take. So, I got my own lock, gave the principal the combination and I used that until the day I graduated.
I had a HUGE rSlash phase months ago, and was scrolling thru comments about the 1st story. I was like "There's no way I've heard this before, it's been so long since I last watched him!" I ended up recognizing it 🤣 I'm honestly impressed that repeats aren't more common considering how many stories he covers... love the vids!!
Yea, I was also scratching my head why he felt the need to calculate it x4 because it is "4 classes in highschool" even though 2 sentences ago he ready "classaction lawsuit". O well, He just likes to try and make numbers as big as possible even if they aren't fully accurate.
For the locker theft story, I feel like the principal was in on it. The fact that he did nothing about it, blamed the students, and then charged them for new combinations makes things very suspicious.
i was folding laundry while listening to this and once i heard that the pastor used the communion money for dates and stuff on top of being married made my jaw DROP
Second story: lucky me then, that I never used a school locker, and even if I did have anything, the only thing of value would be my notebooks and art stuff, and that's only because they'd be full of my stories and drawings. Also, I wonder if Dave and his mom are eligible for parole. I'm just curious. If they are, I hope Dave had learned his lesson by then.
I wanna believe it was a mistake and not content recycling, but I remember that first story. Edit: I am not a stickler about it. I re-listen to his old posts all the time. I am more concerned about the crummy algorithm flagging him for duplicative content.
I feel like the principal was in on the thefts as well. Nothing about him made sense. "Oh you have evidence against one of my employees and her son? Well, I better fight the search warrant in court then."
Wow, the school thefts one. Almost everything was going wrong there! Glad that the Principle was fired (he sounded like a complete dick for playing down the thefts) and the class action lawsuit was filed. As for the dodgy pastor story: this seems to happen a lot. Why does this type of role attract a lot of over-sexed narcissists?
When you're in a position of power, especially when that position is about caring for others, people are more inclined to automatically think the best of you. Some people are also incredibly charismatic
I just love how everyone was all wait "We know the first one" but still listened to it because its you. At the same time prior to the student reveal I was expecting the Principal or one of his family was involved.
So glad the custodian was caught. A lot of people like that end up escalating to violence. The golden state killer started out with cat burglary and peeping. It’s terrifying.
2nd story: They must have had enough evidence that the mom gave her son the info to login to her school's system--why else would her son know that at all anyways. They wouldn't have been able to give her such harsh charges if she hadn't voluntarily gave this info to her son, especially since she was in charge of so many children's private information there. They were offered less time by the prosecutor. The mom & son chose to take it to trial despite the undeniable proof of the crimes which caused them to get even more time. He would have had 5 years juvy + 5 prison, which insinuates he was 13 at the time, that does still feel like a lot imo instead of the 9 years he got. The mother would have gotten 15 but ended up with 18 because the evidence was irrefutable by that point. Gives me the impression that she was in on the situation, likely was happy with the amount of jewelry & money she was looking at getting.
Also, a parent will realize what's happening if your kid got a lot of stuff out of nowhere. The mom was complicit, she knew because so much stuff needs to be stored somewhere.
@@RemziCavdar Yep. I also acknowledge that this story is possibly not real since there are no records anywhere online, though if it did happen in 2001-2002 in a small town, the news might not have been posted online, just in local newspapers. I find it hard to believe a 13 y/o would be sentenced to 5 years of juvie & 5 of prison, seems...excessive for someone that young. I'm no lawyer though. There was a similar case at a YMCA tho!
Honestly, the locker thief story makes up for skipping the first repeat story lol. I love my daily morning cup of RSlash and everyone makes mistakes, so I don’t mind at all. Love ya RSlash!
I don’t mind the repeat stories. Especially when it’s pro-Revenge. Hearing how these dumb wads get royally effed over is always satisfying and brightens my day Also when I was in high school, when we were given combination locks, they were newly given (like not even taken out of their casings new) and I fiddled with my lock so it it wouldn’t open the traditional way. Like I’d turn it several times before stopping at the first number then finished the combination the regular way. Never gave out my combo
14:00 "Class" is being used in the legal sense here, meaning the group of 218 students who were party to the class action lawsuit, not its usual school meaning of a classroom or grade level, hence why the OP put it in quotations. Your first $18k figure was correct, not the quadrupled $74k.
Ah! Today we have yet another easter egg (get it?) from RSlash! I feel this is like... a "test" for the old followers hahaha how long does it take for someone to know if RSlash covered a story already hehe
First story is exactly why you need a vestry (basically a board of lay people) and treasurer in charge of a church’s finances. I’ve served on my church’s vestry and we would definitely notice if something sketchy was going on. We actually had to replace our own roof a couple of years ago, so I’ve gotten entirely too familiar with the bidding and pricing process for that, lol.
My theory is that the principal are in cahoots with Dave and the mom, which is why he feigned ignorance. He's getting a cut of the money from Dave, and the reason he got so angry and defensive is because he "lost" another way to get money.
Story 2: I bet the principal was part of this and if he was he should have been charged with criminal negligence. you don't just ignore crime spree going on in the school. The thieves got what they deserve too especially the mom who the hell steals from High school students. Also $150 to change you locker combination thats highway robbery!!
The rich see an economic crisis as a garage sale and also the rich stay rich by investing and diversifying their portfolio with stock, crypto currency investment which is the wisest thing every individual need to do and it is really profitable.
You are right about that do you mind sharing with me how to get intouch with Mrs Amy Robinette. I have little to no knowledge about crypto currencies and I have seen the rise from 100 USD to over 50k USD in the last few years.
the story about things being stolen from students lockers is exactly why when I was in school I always used a lock with a key and not one with a combination alot harder for someone to open the locker if they have to pick the lock instead
Also, everyone has to realize how much larger rslash is since the first time he told the first story. A lot of us have already heard the story, but a lot of us have not as well.
This is my new favorite channel! I do deliveries for a living so having one earbud in and listening is the perfect way to make my day better! As for this post, I would have liked to hear that the guy did something to his girlfriend who cheated on him as well as what he did to pastor Bob. Anyone, man or woman that cheats on their significant other deserves to be buried in my opinion. And I’ve never even been cheated on, but I still think it is one of the lowest things a person can do to another person.
So many stories of people's kids running wild with master keys and locker combinations ... That's either criminally negligent parenting or downright malicious feigned ignorance.
I kinda feel conflicted about the last Story. I mean, I get that what the kid did Was serious, but the charges seem kinda extreme. 18 years for the mom is also kinda crazy, given the time you serve for other offences which have the perpetrator portray I much more serious threat to society.
Yeah I agree. While the kid does deserve harsh punishment, putting a minor in jail for that long is insane. The story also doesn’t mention at all if the mother provided the login info or the kid simply stole it so there isn’t enough info to say if she’s even responsible. Tbh the fact they weren’t given any plea deals makes me think it’s possible the charges were racially motivated, which is impossible to know of course.
@@josephfowler261 They must have had enough evidence that the mom gave her son the info to login to her school's system--why else would her son know that at all anyways. @@spookyteal If that is true then I agree with the mothers sentencing. Problem is the story doesn't really give any proof of that and its not beyond a reasonable doubt that the child didn't just steal the login information based on the story alone. It's obvious from the story that the prosecutors were trying to be as punitive as possible, especially since there weren't any plea deals given to either of them. Stealing that much as a child is certainly a sign of disordered behavior, and while it does not excuse the behavior, sending a child to jail for 9 years isn't going to help anything. Not to mention, there is no way that many charges would've been accumulated if the principal had nipped the theft issue in the bud to begin with. Not saying the kid is a victim, just saying that throwing a kid in jail for 9 years is going to make more harm than good.
Dont mind hearing again the first story. It was very good on both occasions :P. Also the second one gave me a feeling of fulfillment i cannot adequately describe.
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who’s been noticing the repeat stories. Not that I mind, just means we can hear those stories again in better sound quality. 👌
I love that we are all so addicted to this channel we can agree that the first story was already told, though completely understandable minding how many you’ve covered!
Hey rslash can you make sure you double check what stories you read? You’ve recently started rereading stories you’ve read. I know this because I listen to your channel almost all day while I work. Makes me sad to hear a story I’ve already heard on a new video
Fun story about graphing calculators in 2003.. I found a graphing calculator at my school and kept it. It had a game on it, a game the previous owner had designed. This game is, to this day, one of the best games I've ever played. It was called Pimp Wars Our school taught us how to design games on our calculators, but they were mostly Pong, Snake, and Frogger clones. But Pimp Wars was special. It was silly and raunchy and more complex than any other game that anyone I knew had programmed
Gotta love the last two stories because they basically had the whole "well it's not our fault these things happened to you even though we failed as the people responsible to keep your stuff safe"
