I want her to go up in front of a judge/magistrate and lawyers and say "I've been charging my child daily 'parenting fees' ever since he was 13 and now he's moved out, he won't pay them." I broke my tooth while I was in Istanbul. It wasn't 'bad' but it was a matter of not slicing my tongue or cheek before I could get to my own dentist so I was asking around. A few people directed me to an emergency dental office but warned me that it was pretty expensive. I would be able to claim it on insurance later so he pretty much built me a whole new tooth ... it cost $100. I joke that I'm going to go back there if I need another tooth repaired.

As someone who struggles with executive dysfunction and likes to draw in my free time, I can relate to this snail on multiple levels. Because yes, there are a lot of things that neurotypical people consider "easy" that I also have to spend an enormous amount of time on just convincing myself to do. Drawing a straight line is also surprisingly difficult when you don't take help from some kind of tool (ruler/book/box/something else with a long straight edge) and even then it can be fiddly to get it to be exactly horizontal and not some form of diagonal. As you can probably tell, I also have a bit of a problem with keeping my sentences short. 😹
@davloe
@davloe 11 месяцев назад
@@novaluna9691 I feel you on the "keeping sentences short" bit😅 I gave up drawing as a teenager, mainly because I didn't believe in being able to get as good as I wanted to be, but also because I lacked the patience to get there. Nice to see that someone else continued with this amazing hobby despite their executive function issues❤️
@novaluna9691
@novaluna9691 11 месяцев назад
@@davloe Yeah art does require some level of patience. One of the main reasons I tend to stick to more cartoony/stylized stuff is that I find it easier and quicker to get a (at least somewhat) decent result, than if I were to try to draw something realistic. It also gives me more leeway to go: "Oh, that slightly wonky bit? No, no it is totally meant to look like that." All of this being said I could never have art as anything but a hobby. My imagination is way too fickle for me to have any kind of consistency in how productive I am. I also try to keep comparisons of my drawings between my own pieces, rather than comparing it to other artists I admire, given that they probably have a lot more practice and experience than I do. I also know that the stuff that they show is typically just the stuff that they themselves are really proud of, and that is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what they have created. I watch a lot of art videos here on RU-vid, and one thing that seems to be consistent across pretty much every artist I do watch is periods of self-doubt and them being their own worst critic, which are things I myself have experienced countless times as well. The only reason I would ever stop however, would be if I didn't enjoy it anymore, because I do it for fun, and to relax.

That couple did not just randomly find a duck shaped tomato in their garden. I think they intentionally grew it that way. That doesn't just happen randomly. Fun fact: There's actually a practice in Japan where they grow fruits inside of molds so that the fruit will actually take the shape of the mold as it grows. This is how you get square watermelons, you just grow the watermelon in a box so it grows square. This looks like that, because it is perfectly in the shape of a rubber duck. I could believe this was random if it wasn't perfectly symmetrical and just looked like that from one specific angle but this just is the shape of a rubber duck which makes me think they grew the tomato inside of a rubber duck. Also, a lot of movies and TV shows tend to portray alien invasions as a bad thing because that's what we have done through out history is just invade and conquer foreign nations. But I honestly feel like any alien civilization advanced enough to have traveled through space would also have advanced as a society enough to where they no longer see the value in war and would only help our civilization grow. Or take one look at us, mark our planet as a danger zone and that's likely why we haven't made contact with other planets yet is cause they just know it's not safe to travel here. What is an unrealistic fantasy that I have? Growing up completely intact with a girl who is also fully intact who loves me as much as I love her and growing old together never knowing what pain feels like. It would also be great to grow up in a world where basic needs you need to function as a human being are just provided to you for free and the only things you actually have to work for are luxuries you can live without.

The unrealistic fantasy hit too hard bro
@Daelyah
@Daelyah 10 месяцев назад
No damn way they didn't grow that tomato inside a rubber duck. Also, I definitely feel the "unrealistic fantasy" conclusion. Tack on to it having only people who appreciate and care for you are the ones telling you that they want to visit; that they love you, and want to be there for you. And the people prone to BSing, or loving only when convenient for them, never approach. My sisters and I had to block a relative tonight who claimed they wanted to visit, in September, but they only give a shit about us when it's convenient for them, and we're tired of their games after all these years. They also tried to sneak my address from my baby sister, earlier, but I pretty much made it clear to my sister I was done with them; hence, why we all ultimately chose to block that person. I never forgot how that person tried to guilt me into forgiving the egg donor for abandoning us, so that she could pursue her own happiness. And the anger I felt, that day, has been festering for years. It's a relief to finally cut them off for good, but I still have a ways to go on healing from the rest of the abandonment issues.

after my older sister died we got a mailed letter for her from the bank basically saying she needed to pay her credit card before X date or she'd have to pay an even bigger amount. my mom called the bank to let them know she was dead and they said they'd make sure to close her account and take care of that. over the following months I think we got at least 5 other letters from the bank addressed to her still saying the same thing. my mom had to call twice again to tell them to fix their mistake and that she had already called before and they were like "oh we're so sorry ma'am, we'll take care of it" before it'd happen again. it was both frustrating and kind of funny, like really, how desperate are you to get money from civilians that you'll keep harassing a dead girl to pay her credit card? 😂

A friend of mine had a dog that LOVED fetch, but one day after playing for a long time, just froze. They couldn't get him to move, they didn't know what was going on. They went to the vet and found out the dog likely had ocd/anxiety. He COULDN'T stop playing fetch, even when he was past his limit, and the freezing was from the anxiety of anticipating the next throw. 'You can't take something he loves from him completely, but you also can't let him do the activity as long as he'll go- because he won't stop until he has a shut down like he did before coming here.' So, the lesson here is, yes, animals have some of the same disorders we do (seizure meds humans take were developed for dogs first), even stuff we love can be a burden and restrictions on things, even enjoyable things, helps us and our loved ones be happy and healthy.

26:52 this is a very appropriate punishment for Bezos. Minimum wage jobs with Amazon work conditions. If he does something that would get him fired he has to start all over again. Actually this sounds like the Hell situation for billionaires in general. Also any customers they interact with are visitors from Karen Hell Edit: working minimum wage, Bezos would need about 2.5 million years to work off this punishment. I did the math! Note: this doesn't even include tax or living expenses. This is if every penny was saved. Google says minimum wage in the US is $7.25 an hour and Bezos' net worth is 150.8 billion. It'd take 2,600,000,000 eight-hour work days for him to earn that much. Now let's say he's doing the standard 40 hour work week. It'd take him roughly 7,123,287.7 years to earn his fortune.

I'm not American, but still identified with the lady who couldn't stop laughing over two to ten euros being 'expensive' for medication. System's still a huge step up from the American one for anyone who isn't rich, but for some reason, Canada's healthcare system doesn't cover many prescription meds. My province briefly covered them for anyone 24 and under (they introduced this when I was 26, of course), but the Conservatives immediately got rid of that the moment they were elected. Dental and eye care also aren't covered for adults under (I believe) 65, for reasons nobody understands - at some point, someone just decided I guess that eyes and teeth are optional body parts.
@tookitogo
@tookitogo 11 месяцев назад
Yeah. I don’t get that, either. I just spent $900 on new glasses last week. A frivolous luxury, obviously. I think the main reason why dental and vision aren’t generally covered by medical is because the history of the professions is different; dentistry is an offshoot of barbers (as is medicine itself), and opticians were entirely separate. For a long time the medical world saw itself as superior to the others, and I think by then we’d already started establishing the legal and financial foundations that modern healthcare is based on. The fact that dentistry and vision both contain some vanity products/services in their portfolios makes it easier for the medical industry to keep them separate. It’s stupid, I agree.

The better we get the more of the process we're aware of, and the more improvements we know we can make. It never ends since the more you train your skill the stronger your eye gets and there is always another level to reach you can achieve. It's also why I think people who don't make art have a harder time putting their feelings on it into words. I have a hard time with colour balancing and, because I know I struggle with it, I always see how other artists tackle their pallets and comment on it when I'm impressed. He had a freaking black lotus (pretty much the most valuable mtg card, it can go anywhere from 5k to 20k used.) in pretty much perfect condition. He ended up packaging all of his cards into 5 card packs in blank envelopes and selling them for like $10 each (for reference, I used to be a bit into it and probably have almost a thousand cards total, and my collection is very much considered small) and made so much money because there was a chance that the buyer could get such a rare card so cheap. Honestly a genius move, since he made more selling all of his cards like that than he would’ve selling them individually because he sold all of the like 10 cent cards for the same amount and that was like 80% of the cards. But seriously, look at the mtg card market, most go for less than a dollar, but it scales up quick. If you need a specific card it’s not too uncommon for it to go for like $50.

Also, interestingly enough, amoebas actually don't crawl, they actually use cytoplasmic protrusions called flagella and cillia that beat rapidly, essentially using them to yeet themselves across water. These same protrusions are also used to create water currents that draw in food particles.
