We start the second half of the season in brilliant form, and arrive at the 1-mile flat track of New Hampshire. While I'm not feeling as settled as I was at Chicagoland, I've got good pace.
Then the race begins, and all bets are off...

That broken 2nd gear really set the tone for this one.

Should've known from there really how it was gonna go...

The one upside of the madness, it's good entertainment. 😂

Boy howdy, that was a rough one 😅 The overtaking looked like road course driving, locking up into corners under hard braking. Ive never gotten on with this track. It was home to the 2nd worst nascar race i ever saw. The race here after Petty and Irwin Jr's deaths when Nascar used the restrictor plates. Ugh. Only thing worse was 08 Brickyard. Anyway, on to the next! PS... if you happen to receive a UPS package from Dale Jarrett i WOULDNT open it. Might be something toxic in there lol 😆

Yeah it was pretty rough, but annoying because if I'd tidied it up I could've done well. But really struggled to get settled. Hope to make amends when we return. I am now automatically distrusting of ALL UPS packages regardless of sender now. 😅

1:56 That was a great prediction for the race. You can at least blame it on the 2nd gear, as we all know it surely caused all of those spins, lockups and crashes.

A lot of foreshadowing in this one. 😅 For sure for sure for sure, all on the 2nd gear completely. 😂

By the thumbnail, I deduced that either this was going to be an insane Baker W OR a disasterclass by someone, either Baker or the AI. I should have known this was going to be "fun" the moment 2nd gear decided to implode. My reasoning being "It's just 2nd, how many times do you need to use it?". Then the yellow flags fell. If there's a positive is that Dale Jarrett got his race constantly screwed (always a positive) and that Joe Nemecheck got his race constantly screwed (I'm sure Josh is pretty happy with that result). I can't quite remember how good or bad New Hampshire was for me. I do remember thinking that the front end had to be very stiff in the name of stability. I'm probably going to be the weird one that says "This track isn't that bad" ... even if I spun-DNF'd out of it at some point. Anyway, on to the Poconos again, and hopefully no engine drama.

It could've easily been all of those things. Alas... Yeah, at least the pantomime villains got screwed over. Still annoyed though that today could've still ended well right up to [REDACTED] but hey ho. Even after that race I don't necessarily dislike the track, but just need to be aware how tight the AI get in on the corners, no room to drift a bit wide. Actually looking forward to trying again later in the season.

I always found Loudon quite difficult in a stock car. I preferred it in Indycar. Longer straights and relatively tight and flat corners don't feel good in a NASCAR beast.

I didn't know IndyCar raced here, I really can't imagine that. Yeah this was not a comfortable drive, but I also didn't hate it. Just hard to find a rhythm.

@@TheOutsideLine They did in the early 90s, and the circuit sided with the IRL during The Split. There was an unsuccessful revival in 2011, which saw a restart on a wet track and Will Power’s famous “double bird” to Race Control. But the 1993 race is considered one of the best short oval races in Indycar history. I’d recommend giving it a watch.

OOOHHH that's where that image is from - amazing! A key part of racing history for that alone. 😂 Oh nice. Considering I've watched the season review of 1993 many times (Mansell's year with Newman Haas) I can't believe I didn't put 2 and 2 together. Just watched that part of the review back and the section about New Hampshire isn't the longest, plus the track looks a bit different, so I can see how I missed it. But I'll check out the race itself!

6:07 where link? *Insert that chimpanze meme here xD Also, that first lap is the reason I absolutely hate this track and replaced it's second date with Kentucky in my season😂 Edit: Well, pretty much the whole race is the reason I hate this place

FFS I KNEW I FORGOT SOMETHING. 🙃 It has been fixed. Also added it on a card too which was my plan all along but guess who forgot because he's a low-rent RU-vidr 😂 Lap 1 was fine for me. Lap 2...

😂 After all that I don't hate the track surprisingly, but it's definitely unforgiving, and not the smoothest to drive, hard to get a rhythm.

@@TheOutsideLine I have only ever scored 2 Top 10s at this track in any NASCAR game, apart from my win in my season and a Top 10 in a Mark Martin champoinship attempt I'm usually qualifying upfront and go to around 25th-30th by race's end🤣I just can't figure out how to run consistently there
