The purpose of mitzvot (Torah precepts) is to establish a connection between us and the Creator, emphasizing that this connection must be shaped according to the terms established by the Creator. He is the one who defines the parameters of this relationship. It is not up to us to determine how we will relate to God, because whenever we try to impose our own conditions, the result is invariably adverse. Our approach must be one of humility and submission to His will, recognizing that true connection with the Divine occurs when we follow the paths He has outlined for us. We can reflect on the verse in Deuteronomy 6:5, which says: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." This verse highlights the importance of loving God with our entire being, following the commandments and guidelines He has given us, as a genuine expression of our connection and commitment to Him. In other words, we must connect with God by following His commands, recognizing that He defines the terms of this relationship and not us. There's no such thing as, "Oh, I connect with God in my own way and He accepts it."

the Chazal - Ibn Ezra dispute over the dates/chronology appears to be a delightful preoccupation of our beloved Rav Breitowitz! BTW, in the Toynbee-Herzog debate (@McGill University, 1961), I clearly heard Toynbee saying "I am not an antisemite"! Wonderful shiur!

Unfortunately the USA is seeing discontent in Israel. May the dictum of those who bless Israel are blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed, as soon as possible. How would the USA like it if Israel would interfere in the USA elections and war effort like the USA is doing to Israel now.😅
