Thanks for the review Karl! Appreciate the feedback and honesty! Just to address a few comments, firstly the material is all 304 stainless steel so nice and strong. The first batch was UK shipping only while I trialled a few international shipping options. Once the next batch is made on June 10th, they will be available internationally. Regarding the clutch spring, unfortunately I had a supply issue with the original thumb nuts which had a bigger section to capture the spring which I can't get anymore. While this isn't an issue once installed properly and the spring is under compression, I can see that this can be improved. To remedy this I'll 3D print some seats for them for the next batch on June 10th. For the accelerator springs, the red spring is more for people that run longer endurance races and may find it fatiguing after a while. I will also look into adding an optional stiffer spring for people that do want that extra stiffness, however most people seem to find the black spring comfortable especially when wearing socks instead of shoes. I'll also look at what I can do for the getting more weight from the clutch while keeping the pressure plate feeling, this may be as simple as using a stiffer spring, so I'll look into that. Although just to note that in the top hole (with the most bite point feeling), the pedal is still around 40% stiffer than standard. Cheers, Rob

Thanks for honest review. I was thinking about buying these pedals, but since I consider simracing a hobby, I will spend a little more and go with DC or Forte and won't wonder if I could make them better with some mods which in the end would cost the same.

I got the one for the accelerator pedal, and I have to say it actually feels much better. It's a rather different type of feel than 'just harder to press down' imo and for me I prefer a bit stiffer feel so this was perfect for me. Thanks!

@10:45 A capture spacer/washer in the clutch would help keep the spring centered, as well as increasing preload, which would result in a heavier pedal feel. With a longer spacer you could perhaps get the heavier feel you desire, while also moving the pivot up to increase the desired clutch plate sensation. 1 3d printed part away from a solid upgrade. Different lengths could be made or shim/washer stacks could be used to adjust preload.

It's a nice kit for what it is, but I'd expect some sort of locators to keep the clutch spring in place. Especially at £90... If they make some modifications such as what you've suggested, I may pick them up down the line as they look the bollocks when installed. Great vid as always, Karl. You've been very helpful for me in picking my next set of gear and for the mods I had on my old G29 setup (with TrueBrake and GT Lite cockpit). I've already got my Fanatec CSL Pedals with Loadcell kit and my Mclaren GT3 wheel. My CSL DD is in the post and my SimHound chassis is on order. Can't wait...
@gasracing4000
@gasracing4000 2 года назад
The DD is amazing. Ive only the 5nm, but its still very strong when using custom feedback profiles. The McGT3 wheel is also amazing (best for the $ hands down), but I also picked up the 200$ WRC round wheel which is important to have, because many cars just aint proper to drive with the bowtie. They have a 120$ round wheel thats all black, but otherwise the same as the WRC wheel, I would highly recomend. A sub woofer and transducer are huge upgrades for the $ if you can be noisy where you live. Used subwoofers are a dime a dozen, but buttkickers and other transducers are harder to find a deal on.
@BBGunOcelot
@BBGunOcelot 2 года назад
@@gasracing4000 I have 2 Dayton audio transducers currently that I had on the GT Lite, 1 front and 1 back. Looking to upgrade to four on the new rig to simulate the four corners. Even just with the 2 it gave me so much more information that was lacking through the weak G29 feedback. Definitely made me more consistent on that setup. I had to invest in a 2m x 1m 2 inch thick 6lb foam sheet for the rig at the time as I'm upstairs and the vibration was driving the wife crazy... Lol! I've got the 8nm DD coming, and I'll be looking at a full sized wheel for other games down the line (I mainly play ACC at the moment). Appreciate the info, bro.

I have the money for either but I don't have enough to just go wasting on things.

Its really great and innovative when a company comes out to try and make a product better. But to be honest, if someone wants to go down this route, I think it would be better to buy a better product than the csl pedals in the first place. Once you have spent the extra money and fiddled around, it would be better in my opinion to get something that it is already superior.

This looks very similar to the user posted mod on the Fanatec Owner's Group on FB post for CSL Pedals throttle DIY mod, that costs $12 USD on Ali for a pair of adjustable gas dampers (tension adjustable, to compress the spring on each damper with a knob) and $10.71 USD per pedal at the two major hardware stores, with no need to 3D print anything, for a total of $34 USD to apply to two pedals. Nothing to modify or remove on the CSL Pedals for that mod, install takes 30 minutes. It makes the pedals heavier, and the spring tension is adjustable with a knob on each damper, it does make the pedals feel better but it doesn't transform them. I would suggest the DIY user mod for the price buy I doubt I would pay $110 USD + shipping (likely to be at least $10 USD to ship to the USA, but likely closer to $20) for something similar to the user posted mod. The price for some of these addon parts for CSL Pedals nearly makes no sense for $80 to $200 USD pedals. Either mod is good if you feel like there is not enough tension on any or just one of the pedals, I just don't think $110 USD + shipping is worth it. Just know it isn't going to transform the pedals to a whole different class. I went from CSL LC Pedals fo Heusinkveld Sprints lately and my gosh are they incredibly better in every aspect! If you were to add up all of the costs to have all of the CSL LC Pedals modifications by buying a CSL LC Pedals, CSL Pedals Tuning Kit (just to for the metal pedal plates), this or the other 3rd party produced throttle and brake or clutch based mod that was out first which are both around $130 USD after shipping, and the pair of elastomers, I was looking at $450 USD or so, which is only $100 USD less than my Heusinkveld Sprints. And if I were to rate both pedals sets at least for me in stock form, the CSL LC Pedals stock would be a 5.5/10, the mods minus the 3Drap elastomers changes, so just using the stock CSL LC elastomers in that case, because I was not willing to pay close to $60 USD for two such simple pieces of material to try them, would be a 6.0/10, and the HE Sprints would be a 9.5/10, which is quite a large gap. I also feel like the HE Sprints will last way longer and be more reliable and they are fully adjustable in every aspect including the pedal angle and tension which makes the difference in total price not even close to being with spending the money modding CSL LC Pedals to that level, IMHO.

@racesimengineering5827
@racesimengineering5827 2 года назад
Thanks for the comments! I decided against gas dampers due to the return rate being too slow which can hinder your throttle control. The majority of the cost from this kit is in the clutch, both the upgraded spring and the upright sections needed to get the feeling of a pressure plate. You can only get a linear feeling on the clutch when running the DIY mods as they rely on using the bottom mounting holes in the pedal base - you need the mounting point to be raised in order to get a pressure plate feeling. In terms of cost and what to buy? In the UK this kit + the pedals with loadcell comes in at £300 compared to £410 for the V3s. If you have the money outright, then you may want to spend the extra £110 for V3's or the extra £200 for HE sprints. What this kit does though is allow you to start with a cheaper pedal set if that's all you can afford or if you got it in a bundle, and then incrementally upgrade them to a set that can at compete with higher end gear. Cheers, Rob Race Sim Engineering
