Early 90s the bbc remove him from his radio 1 show even though ratings were huge. 2022 the bbc remove him from his radio 2 show even though ratings were huge. Problem being the bbc don't need or care about ratings.

Vine cannot hold a candle to Steve Wright who was an innovative, trailblazing, talented star. The exact opposite of Vine.

No mention of Kenny Everett, in all these tributes on all the mainstream tv channels….apart from Pat Sharpe on 5 News tonight (Feb 14) who…at last, mentioned the great Kenny Everett…first and then Steve Wright…

Steve said he owed everything to Kenny Everett, as he was his mentor. So innovative - and being a Liverpolitan, naturally funny.

I loved both of them, Kenny and Steve, both legends, both sadly missed.

@@JD-cw4qg You can see the direct influence of Kenny on Steve. I rarely loudly laugh. I might titter and that is it. They only one in my adult life that made me laugh out loud was Kenny. That incisive clever Liverpool wit occasionally came out inside him. BBC people when setting up Radio 1 in the 1960s, clandestinely went to see Radio London and Caroline. They were amazed that Kenny Everett was a one man band doing work which engineers would do at the BBC. He mixed and spliced tapes, setup recording equipment, made the jingles, etc, etc, all by himself. Unlike Steve, Kenny did not have the USA stations to constantly use for influence. These days US stations can be heard online. Steve would listen to any English radio broadcasts for influences, so that meant the USA and Canada.
