The greatest question in the history of music...."had the 4 of you ever been in the same room at once since the breakup"?....all Beatles lovers wanted to know.....great job Howard...!!!
@Philippe Prioton That was his nice way of saying "no". Because they never were all together at the same time after the August 1969 meeting with John announcing he's quitting the band
You can really see in Get Back how much the thought of The Beatles no longer being together affected him. Drove him to tears, I’m not surprised he was so emotional at that time
I love this man! He's this genius, but has an organic kind of humility ...yet, he makes no apologies for being this brilliant composer of music and often poignant lyricist.
I love how Howard never asks Paul simple questions, like the ones he gets asked every day He asks him questions we all want to know and now we know the answers
I love how over the past five years or so Paul and Ringo have been right out there in the media reflecting on their time in the Beatles. It's refreshing seeing them relaxed and talking truth and going around all the drama and speculation causesd by the old school media and documentaries.
Macca was peaking musically in the late 60's, his output and 1uality of songs was pretty incredible. But he was also the smartest businessman in the band.- he was smart enough to see what a conniving thief Alan Kein was, and he eventually the abeatles from losing everything by handing over the Beatles management to him. Time has proven him right and the rest of the boys must have realized eventually how much Macca saved their assets...
People still hate Macca for it. Doesn't make sense. He was literally trying to save their asses in the future tense, but idealism ruled the day. I hope John and George acknowledged this in later life.
@Flying Up agreed! When they paid "taxes" owed finally all of them but Ringo joined raid area 51. Which is a death operation set up by cuthulu the God of squirting vagina!
@Flying Up Howard is a sellout too, yeah. He was eviscerating Linda's singing back in the 90s when Paul wouldn't go near him with a 10 foot pole. Something changed.
We will never know the internal dynamics of the core group...but, Ringo was the new boy in the band. The other three were closer as friends solely on the basis that they hung out from 14-15 years of age. They went through the early years of Hamburg together etc.
@@kallekula1860 Ringo was also in Hamburg with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. In fact, he even played drums on a few occasions with The Beatles in Hamburg. So, there was a history going back further than just Ringo joining in 1962.
@@TheJthom9 Yes, this, of course, is common knowledge for any Beatles fan. But, it is not the same thing as hanging out on an almost daily basis since age 15, is it?
Ring n George wasnt bossed around by John and Paul. They were like one person working together making records and planning how they could get from a to b. Together. They had enough People to help them with that and they had People to the dirty work, and the dirty worker could pay someone else to do the dirty work if they wanted, but i believe it was very cool to do any work for the BEATLES. I would love to work for them for free. I would probably pay for it.
What I love, is the freshness of the interview...Its not at all easy to do, and there is an understanding and appreciation of what each other has done and is doing....not just from Mr Stern, but, from Mr McCartney...What you have is Legend and stories to be told...what we get are two icons making art right before us, as if we are in the room ....it is the height of all media, and incredible fun ! Thank you!
More peeps can relate to drive my car.....when I was single, if a guy let me drive his very cool car, that meant he REALLY liked U. the man I have been married to for 39 yrs, switched cars with me. he had a VERY cool car & my car was a piece of shit :) Love my man ;)
When Paul said we were weaponizing songs at each other. To add to the long list of all the “firsts” The Beatles did, Paul and John were the OGs of diss tracks lol. So for everyone who thinks The Beatles suck or aren’t transcendent, diss tracks have been a major part of rap and hip hop. You can thank Paul.
This interview needs to be saved somewhere forever and ever, PAUL MCCARTNEY is the greatest singer songwriter of all time ,his god given abilities are bar none..... So far anyways.......
@Jack McLane I know you're right. I guess it's just the way he poses the questions. Like how he says, " I heard a rumor that *this* happened..." it makes it sound like a big secret that nobody's supposed to know.
Actually, paul was going ro do something different but he chose to blend with stern, since macartney has a great musical ear it sounded like they both did the same thing. Listen to the very beginning, paul starts hitting more notes and then blends in. But very good observation, anyway.
Peter Cho My opinion is that Paul made the right decision, but may not have had the right approach. George always mentioned that “he [Paul] is still 9 months older that me!”, so it could have sounded condescending to George.
Stern asks some questions that aren’t necessary. Paul has come full circle with things yet Stern is rehashing too much of the bad times. Like asking someone about their divorce from almost 50 years ago.
McCartney often contradicts himself regarding to what extent he patched things up with Lennon before he died. He usually says that they had unresolved issues, and that usually their phone conversations would end with one of them hanging up on the other. He says they could only have fairly friendly conversations if they discussed trivialities.
So instead of 'golden rings' the boys got "Golden Slumbers" and it all worked out in "The End" "Because" they were able to make "Something" "Come Together" on Abbey Road 🎸
Jack Public Cynthia is more conventionally feminine that Yoko; John certainly picked a woman who is closer to his Aunt Mimi and mother Julia, both unconventional women.
Paul might want the world to believe John broke up the Beatles, but it was Paul who brought them to court to break them up. The Beatles were under contract until 1974 and Paul sued so he could leave. At first, the others thought of keeping the Beatles going using Klaus Voorman as bass guitar. Source: The Beatles Forever by Nicholas Scaeffner, and you can get a good used copy on Amazon for $1.00. I have the original hardcover that I paid almost $20.00 for when it came out
Sometime later John, George, and Ringo drove to Pauls house and threw a brick through his window, as the three all laughed, If the story is true, you can guess who heaved the rock. John.
@@DanielLopez-fj9yz I think he's referring to the fact that he kept on interrupting Paul when he was speaking. He was using Jimmy Fallon as a comparison because he is notorious for interrupting people. If you don't understand a joke, just move on, don't act all superior and condescending.
My Guess is that Jimmy always wanted to be a rock star, and that he secretly hates the 9-5, even though his job is the near most awesome ever, and that he was recruited to be in a band.
I don’t think they were massive on drugs at that point. I think he literally had a cup of tea. It’s what we do in Britain, it solves all life’s problems
