16 year old Rafa’s level is much higher than the next generation. However, it’s unfair to compare, athletes like Roger, Rafa, Novak appear once in many decades.. truly golden generation for 🎾
The next gen has beaten Rafa multiple times. So you mean Rafa at the age of 16 was better than Rafa in the recent times? Don't just say anything for the sake of it.
@@John-yt8cl I don’t know why you think I’m comparing Rafa from past to now..lol I’m curious to know. I simply meant that, level of Tennis by these legends in their very young age was much higher than the new generation.
@@MSYF9 Re-read your comment. You said that 16 year old Rafa's level is much higher than the next generation. However, the next gen is consistently winning titles and beating Rafa. So does that mean that 16 year old Rafa was better than the Rafa of recent times?
Well his opponent on this match has definitely felt less and less shitty about this loss over the years, as more and more French Open Championships have been played...
Literally watching this as I watch Rafa play the 5th set of the AO Final against Medvedev. With his own Rafa brand logo all decked out, aged. Wow man this guys had a career and a half.
You still don't know what you re dealing with do you..the perfect clay court specimen. Unbeatable. No remorse, no fear. You have my sympathies... 20 years later everyone gives up.
This boy was to become one of the greatest tennis players, of all time. Even at 16yrs old, he chased every ball and showed his spirit. Nadal just amazes me. I wonder what Puerta said, about Nadal, after the match.
@@helenclarke4735 The drug test also showed that his performance was not better because of it. The positive drug test didn´t help Puerta's performance. He was playing the best tennis of his life, and he was one point away to send that match to a fifth set.
The will to win is amazing. It cannot be taught. Can it be cloned? He's like Alien. The perfect creature. No remorse, guilt r emotions. The perfect machine
No shame in this loss for Rafa. He was only 16!!! If anything Puerta should not have been celebrating his victory, but scared that he almost lost to a 16 year old. True this 16 year old would go on to be one of the greatest ever, but still, he was technically only a boy...
Amazing to see that he has not changed at all...so casual when he gets that prize from who ever was handing it to him... arguably the best teenager in any sport...
Commentator mid-game : "we're having the chance to watch a future great tennis player" Good guess, but no one could know that this youngster would win 22 Grand Slams in the next 20 years of a great and long career up until now!
I have the feeling that Rafa should go back and watch these matches again and be inspired and refreshed. And restarts with ease on a new journey at 20 GS for others to play catch-up. Jaiyou! Rafa.
That's without question- Nadal is on another stratosphere when it comes to clay... when he has lost, which is extremely rare, he wasn't at 💯 percent or someone got lucky as hell!
Wow. It's abundantly clear just how gifted Nadal was at 16. He hit the ball damned hard even then. Although his style is very different from Federer's, he's no less talented. Based on this performance alone, I'm not surprised that he wound up winning 20 majors. In fact, I don't recall seeing ANY 16 year old male playing this well. Some awesome drop shots here also - which shows that Nadal, even at 16, knew a thing or 2 about finesse and delicacy.
Puro espectáculo. Puro tenis. Puro Nadal.
OMG his stank face at the end while he's holding that crystal scotch tumbler is hysterical. He's like "Yeah, I don't give a damn really, can I go now? Ugh I got to take a picture, I dunno whatever." lol.
Nadal entered the professional level really early, and naturally he started as the whipping boy for the more experienced and accomplished players. But because of his mountainous determination and drive, he kept persevering and established for himself an indomitable mindset. I think this is what has truly set him apart in the years that have followed.
Pure joy watching Rafa since 2005, 14 RG and 22 GSs. GOAT of ALL time without a doubt. No one will ever surpass this classy genius in ANY sport. Love you Rafa. We’ll done and huge congrats, plus best wishes for the health of your foot. 🙏🏻❤️👏
Adorable clever boy Nadal. So serious and concentrate on Tennis. at sixteen, as if on 2020, just more and more brilliant, and deserves the love and respects, of many people in the world, including me, from Israel:-)
ha ha good observation... i think he celebrated out of relief... the kid was giving him too much trouble... really what a phenomenon Rafa was in his late teens and early through mid 20s... djokovic was lurking in the shadows all the time - he was there in the 2006 FO too...but he was not able to move the force called RafaNadal... surprisingly he managed to cut through both rafa and Fed in the next decade... was it only by change of diet... unbelievable...seems too good to be true...
@@smashthestateX Do you even play tennis? That’s like saying 16 years old Federer is more difficult to beat than 35 years old Federer. That’s just silly.
is incredible to think he turned Pro at 2001... and he became famous on 2005 winning RG to the same rival... 4 years of challengers and ATP tournaments being a teenager... the life of a tennis player must be so tough...
