To clarify: this video is not sponsored in anyway, I do not have plans to do sponsors, and the ending rant is indicative of my feelings towards them on this channel. I do not feel they mesh well with the type of content I want to make, however, while this was poking fun at sponsors as a whole, please do not take this as me looking down upon fellow channels who do sponsorships. It's honestly a smart move and I see no problem with it, I just don't want to run my channel like that if that makes any sense!
I went to Wikipedia and saw that the last part of the reception part had been changed. "The game has also achieved notoriety for its extensive advertising campaign, most notably its sponsorships with a number of RU-vid *and Vimeo* personalities."
Can we appreciate him like he doesn’t do sponsorships, he doesn’t ask you to like and he doesn’t ask you to subscribe.... he just entertains Edit: I'm not saying that those things are bad in anyway I'm just appreciating the fact that he doesnt bother and instead just focuses on entertaining
Yeah but sponsorships arent inherently bad and neither is asking the viewer to like and subscribe. If reminding viewers to do that just didnt work and everyone thought it was annoying then no one would be doing it. They ask people to like and sub cuz it works.

Even though everyone talks about Raid: Shadow Legends in their sponsorships, in every video they publish. No one talks about Raid: Shadow Legends on its own as the game it is, unless it's about the ad campaign. Not even Scott The Woz coudl make a video about Raid: Shadow Legends without having to make the whole video themed about sponsorships. - This is very different from other video games that are talked about as the games they are. Raid: Shadow Legends is pushed very hard, but really to no end, as soon as they stop, everyone will forget about it.
With millions of people installing it just to see what the fuzz is all about, a decent amount are going to stick around for long enough to bleed dollars into the game's gambling system
"The game has also achieved notoriety for its extensive advertising campaign, most notably its sponsorships with a number of RU-vid and Vimeo personalities.[7] " We did it Lads
It got edited to additionally say "Due to this campaign, it has become an internet meme, with many RU-vid personalities, excluding a certain Wozniak, promoting the game at some point" Edit: And then it got changed :(
Whoever changed the Wikipedia description of Raid Shadow Legends to say "The game has also achieved notoriety for its extensive advertising campaign, most notably its sponsorships with a number of RU-vid and Vimeo personalities." is a legend. Edit: Between now and two months ago when I made this comment someone removed this from the Wikipedia page
God, Scott is the most hardcore RU-vidr ever. He refuses to let companies give him money, spends excessive amounts of money, and he is STILL coasting along just fine without any signs of a bad financial situation. Never change, Scott.
This is not my real name. In his Wii Play episode, he almost sold copies of Wii Play separately from the Wii Remotes bundled with them, but then at the end dumped them onto a desert road as if they were drugs
He said with sunglasses god damn it. Gecko with shades is completely different this is unbelievable and I shall be informing your mother and the local authorities. You’ve driven me to pure heights of madness you shade wearing bastard
He admits he's afraid of getting sponsored because he worries that we won't respect his opinion... I just gained a tonne more respect for this beautiful nerd
For as much as he was making fun of it, there is now a thumbnail from a successful channel that will be floating around RU-vid recommendations forever. Plus, he shows gameplay and mentions it being a 2019 mobile game of the year. Also, he always refers to it by the full name. As much as Scott is lampooning the game, he is hitting a lot of marketing bullet points. If this video wasn't sponsored, then I'd be shocked. But I'll say this: if it is, good for him. If Scott is putting out a sponsored video while staying true to his brand, then get that money, bro!
I am tired of these boomers whining about how Minecraft good Fortnite bad tik tok gay and raid shadow legends is awful shit like that. Dumb Nintendo fanboys
If it was sponsored, he’d have to clarify that the video was, in fact, sponsored, and he’d also likely have some code so *YOU CAN DOWLOAD THE GAME AND GET 50K FREE SILVER AND A NEW HERO WITH CODE “SCOTTMANFUN” TODAY*
Most gaming channels: “Lootboxes are a cancer that ruins games!” Those same gaming channels: “Download Raid! Sure, there are lootboxes, but it’s a lot of fun!”
I guess, but I'm not sure anyone's really seen a RU-vidr promote a product in a short advertisement that's clearly not a review, and then actually buy the product. It's the anti-promotion. ...Well, maybe small children.
@Tetra Cubia Eat or not, most of your favorite youtubers are corporate shills. I have more respect for two-dollar hookers than anyone shilling a shitty mobile game.
While Raid: Shadow Legends is not a great game, most of the other sponsors are pretty good. By the way, this comment was sponsored by Squarespace, the best place to make your online presence.

I wouldnt be suprised if Raid: Shadow Legends had an ad in the title screen for Raid: Shadow Legends. Btw. This comment was sponsored by Raid: Shadow Legends.
I'm gonna be honest, if Scott actually had a genuine sponsor, it'd probably be slightly difficult to tell if it WAS genuine or not It's almost as much of a mystery as whether or not he unironically loves Madden 08
I want to be more mad about how Raid is everywhere, but knowing how much that sponsorship pays and with the state of RU-vid, I really can't blame anyone who takes that deal.
I blame anyone who takes that deal the game is super manipulative in trying to get you to spend, its because of youtubers advertising it that kids and gullible people get sucked in and then don't realise how much they are spending....... STUFF LIKE THIS IS WHY GAMING IS SO BAD NOW, if we say this is okay then every game, mobile console or pc will think its okay to do the same thing I urge anyone who sees a raid shadow legend ad on a vid to click off as fast as possible when youtubers start losing audience retention due to it they will stop advertising it one pay off isn't worth losing your continued support from your fan base
Tristan The vr Gamecat I don’t think that’s really helping anyone more than it is hurting people’s favorite youtubers it would probably be more proficient to comment about it directly on the game rather than the blind fire mentality
I think he'd be the sponsoree. The sponsor is the one sponsoring his video- funding it for their own, indirect gain. He'd be getting sponsored, so he's the sponsoree.
His viewership is so consistent that he probably lives really comfortably. He gets an average around one million views a video, so I think his ad revenue must be pretty good.
Deuce Moncura I know right? Plus they always talk about there “incognito” design. THATS STUPID! If someone is trying to get your attention and you have these things in your ear it’s going to look like you’re ignoring them. Sure you can out only one earbud in but I feel like that kind of takes away from the experience.
I got a pair of wireless head phones similar to raycon for $20 at Wal-Mart. I love how all the people getting sponsored by raycon never say there price just that it's cheaper than "premium brands"
you guys noticed that Scott mostly does 10+ minutes long videos, yet he puts 0 midroll ads in them? He videos are not even monetized at all, what a a legend.
How to win over viewers with absolute integrity: reject any temptation to be sponsored in the first place. And all in an April Fool's skit, too. Scott is truly the chosen one.
There isn't anything wrong with doing advertisements, what is wrong is advertising obviously shilling things and lying about it. I honestly do not believe a single soul has actually enjoyed this mobile pay to win trash.
Scott has almost 1 million followers, its easy to refuse sponsors in that position. Now if you're a 100, 200k subs channel, you either go Patreon or go sponsors (some do both, which imo is kinda disgusting). Making youtube videos takes a lot of time, and when it becomes your main job, you're at the mercy of RU-vid's algorythm, so sponsors are a way to secure your rent, your bills and ... well, the basic minimum.
