This is such a useless video. My controller connected fine for a year then suddenly stopped. Stop telling my to move the router and tell me how to re-set the rain bird controller!
They do. You should hear folks piss and moan when you offer the $600 timer vs. the $200. Everybody wants a freaking Porsche, but y’all want a VW price. Rain Bird makes some of the best irrigation equipment in the world.
Video shows incomplete information and lack of practicality. Moving gateway router and modem cannot be done easily. Installing a range extender is a solution but is still an issue with connecting to the rainbird wifi module. App show communication error. Is port forwarding needed? Is static IP for the module needed? Module doesnt accomodate this. Issues connecting to the module are well known. What would be the customer friendly solution? Make a module with an antenna.
My ST8x just stopped working with the schedule. I can remote into it with my phone and manually start it. It does detect the wifi and connects fine. I add and remove times and saves the changes but never turns on for scheduled watering.
I can't even connect to the WiFi controller to set up the app. Two mobile phones checked. That is standing next to the controller. Well it connects to rainbird wifi broadcasted but the app just doesn't go further showing a connectivity error. Total flop.
I bought the arc 8 and it won’t even let me connect it to the app without the wifi link. Bought the wifi link and the accessory port doesn’t even have the 4 pin connector to plug into the wifi link. I’m taking this thing back and getting a different brand that doesn’t only run off an app. Anyone else have this issue specifically with the arc 8?
ESP-RZX controller wprked well for 5 years. Now i cannot get the app to connect using AP. App sees the access point, tells me its connected (wifi on phone details Rainbird AP) but will not let me step through config any further! Quite frustrating after many years of service and lack of detail on web to assist in this situation!

Have you made any changes to your current home network or updated security settings? Have you upgraded the network router?
The powered button/led blinks red and green and the system is not starting. Can you please give me some advice. We are using an - ESP xld m50 controller. The led blinks red and green and the system is not working. We changed with another controller its working. But when we are using/fixed this controller its blinking the red and green colour in the led. Is there any process of checking to resolve this issue.
What I did. Got an older android. Installed the program, connected through bluetooth first. Then was able to connect the unit to the Wi-Fi. At the same time I took my regular android phone (which all of a sudden quit working after 3 months and I couldn't get it to connect at all), uninstalled rsinbird rebooted and reinstalled, at the same time was setting up the old one. The older android wouldn't finish installation after it connected but my regular phone all of a sudden recognized the unit, and started working normal, even all my old settings were still there. Didn't have these headaches with Orbit, won't but this again. Rainbird warranty says, "warranty only valid if you are not satisfied with 'UNUSED' product". How are you going to know unless you use it first?
Hi Marc! This is a communication issue between the controller and LNK WiFi Module. To get this solved, please do this in the physical controller: clear the Memory by pressing the Back and Next Arrow at the same time until the time defaults back to 12:00AM., If the issue persists please contact us at (800) 247-3782 from 5 am - 5 pm PST from Mon - Fri.

Got it. Could you please try these steps? 1. Get a red/green pattern on the LNK Module 2. Go to WIFI SETTINGS and connect to the Rainbird network 3. Open the Rainbird app and tap on the pencil icon 4. On the Edit screen, tap on the controller settings (three wheels) 5. Tap on controller info and change the password. Minimum 4 characters-8 as maximum. 6. Press DONE and then tap on network settings 7. In green letters there is CHANGE WIFI SETTINGS, tap on it. 8. If the permanent hotspot is ON. Please, turn it off. 9. Select the network from the list below and enter WIFI password and press NEXT. If this does not work. Go to home page and tap on GARBAGE ICON. Eliminate connection. It would not erase start times, run times and water days. Only images and name of zones will be deleted.
Absolute POS. The entire product development team should be fired. Always losing connection, always "in another connection" besides mine, and always SLOW AS DIRT.
I can’t believe that this module (that costs 100 dollars mind you) is so poor at staying connected to the network. I set it up, and it worked fine for a total of 1 day. Next thing I know, it’s communication error after error. Garbage product.
This thing is awful. Save your money and buy something else, what a waste of money. I bought the WiFi thing because my house came with a RainBird controller. This thing gets misconfigured every week. I had a Rachio in my previous home and I never had to worry about it after the set up. I am planning to switch and just toss this in the trash where it belongs. I am not even going to try to sell it cause I’m ashamed to pass this thing to somebody else. Plus the app seems like it was designed in MS paint
wow.....how useless is this.....spend hundreds of dollars to move router around....i have an idea......get rid of rain bird controller.........my manual watering suddenly stopped working after about 2 days purchase and set-up......want back and forth between hot spot and wifi.........was working...now not working.......time for a return to store.....this thing is crap.......
ditto all the other comments - Rainbird has a horrible app. Do not buy the WiFi connector, it is worthless. Rachio works flawlessly so use that if you want a remote connection to your irrigation. Rainbird is fine if you just run it in manual mode.
Rainbird Wifi is crap. My controller is in the garage. Am I supposed to leave $100k worth of vehicles in my driveway just so Rainbird Wifi works? GTFOOH!
