Everyone is saying that the first two images he shows are more communications with the slugcat but I like to imagine it’s him looking up google on how to solve this like “Talk to small white creature” “Slugcat” “Slugcat Karma” “Slugcat intelligence” “Slug cat speak English” “How big is slugcat brain” And then he just goes *alright fuck it neurosurgery it is.*
Its really cool how he interacts with the slugcat in a iterative way, first try talking, then talking slower, writing, another language, Symbols, drawings...eh fuck it, neurosurgery.
I've seen this cutscene like a dozen times by now and man, you are totally right! I thought the writings and images were just a visualization of his computer processes.
I got the mod that lets you meow. And this was my first playthrough, I did NOT expect him to ask “is this reaching you?” And then he responds to my fervent meowing with “judging by your meowing, I’ll take that as a yes” I started laughing. I didn’t think meowing had any gameplay impact other than attracting predators
Here's how i interpret what he was saying. 0:20 "Little creature on the bottom of my chamber. I assume you're looking for a way to ascend?...... Do you even understand me? Un-der-stand me?... most likely not." 1:49 "It's no suprise you can't understand that given your primitive brain but I suppose I can create a method that translates my words into something you can understand"
I feel like I can translate what he’s saying, or at least the tone At the start it’s obviously gibberish. 0:31 he says something, then repeats it slower. Probably “can you understand me” Then probably talks to himself and acts condescending to slugcat. Then he tries written language He starts with small text. 0:58 slightly larger text, probably still “can you read it now?” as it flashes 1:03 this is a different writing system. It’s more scratchy and organic instead of blocky and perfect font pebbles used first. He goes back to the original script, small again. Probably a condescending comment. 1:14 CAN. YOU. READ. THIS. Then he starts doing that electricity ticking thing, like he’s thinking harder. 1:24 whatever the fuck this is. It looks like a map. I think it might be a picture of himself, or some kind of internal code script visualized? Obviously it’s more advanced than whatever was before. The first slugcat he ever talked to already understood him, so he’s never done this before. 1:33 “you come here, to me, to get enlightened?” or something. Slugcat come here for karma. I give max karma? 1:41 probably a “is your brain to freaking small to not understand any of this?” or something along those lines. “This is your brain. Use it.” Then he starts ticking like crazy, probably thinking “fine I’ll try to do what NSH did to the pink slugcat” Then magic technology wonder slugcat understands pebbles now.
I believe 1:24 is like an orientation photo, for the AI it's self. Kinda like how when you line a camera up to an imagine to calibrate it. But, the devices are so old, the machine is slightly off center. (I dont think its a map because of the icon in the top left.) I think it's kind of like a grid pattern, that he would normally use to self scan and diagnose, but he is trying to use it to scan slug cat indirectly, instead. I say this, because if the image was properly aligned, it would be the perfect size to fit as an overlay, then after the 'scan' it shows us a picture of slug cat, indicating, if I had to guess, the self diagnostic scan detected a slug cat, and displayed it as the error / result?
@@pipervonauger i guess he studied the brain before give slugcat the mark, maybe he uploaded minimal language and telephatic stuff. Also, looks like the enrrgy shock he uses when is angry. I guess he send sooo much info to slugcat brain that overload it
@@kirikon5171 the interior is definitely harder hitting I'd say. Going through the underhang into Five Pebbles is better I'd say, although the Wall doesn't have the zero gravity thing so it's a lot easier I'd say.
I just got to this guy today, and when I tell you it is the coolest shit I've ever seen in a game, it's an understatement. To go from braindead animals to a mad scientist in a few minutes is so cool. I wish I found him on my own. I got to the top of the wall on the first save file, but didn't know how to stick spears in the ground, so I left after getting the echo. I got a lot more experienced after that, learning to roll, flip, slide, actually kill lizards, etc. I got down to the depths too, but ended up softlocking my save trying to get out. So I had to restart and managed to get to the top of The Wall in less than 10 cycles and 2 deaths, compared to the 60 cycles and countless deaths it took me before. A shame I couldn't get there on my first file, but... it is what it is.
I didn't know you could throw a spear downwards, so after finally arriving at the top of the wall (which took me ages) I couldn't proceed, so I came all the way back to chimney canopy just to get the grapple worm.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it's because he's a tortured crazy destructive powerful lonely male character and like a lot of girls you feel attracted to boys who are both cold hearted, powerful and sad because you feel they have both great value and at the same time they desperately need warmth which is something you feel you can bring, which triggers a sense of purpose in you.
